if only everybody's attitude was like yours, tenchim. way to laugh at your own mistake.
kidding.
kidding.
And remember, the Sony Points you earn by buying the item can be applied to the purchase.
by doing this...
I am requesting (choose all that apply):
1. TRIPLE/BONUS Sony Points...
2. A CREDIT* to my Sony Card account ...

too bad I have to purchase only Sony products to be able to redeem the points.
i've spent many sleepless nights over this... but here goes:
1) tell all of your friends and relatives you have sony points, so if they are in the market for any sony products, make the purchase for them and redeem your points. then get a check back from them. sony points have magically become cash. since you get triple points back (3% back) you can also give half or all of that to your friend for the trouble...
example: charge $200 for playstation 2 (i know they are less now, just an example).... redeem your points. since i have $200 in points, i basically have used all of my points so now i have 0 points and a playstation. give playstation to friend for $200 check... sony will give you triple points, so you have 3*200 = 600 points=$6 in your account again... you can give $3 to your friend...or just keep it all.
2) buy anything sony; redeem points; sell item on ebay... you'll lose some cash but i figure that the price you pay for "cashing" your points.

I was thinking of another strategy which borderlines fraud but, my idea was to convince whichever B&M I decide to go to and ask them if I may "purchase" a Sony product, then "accidentally" lose my receipt. I could then return the merchandise for full store credit and purchase anything I want. The form does not require a UPC but just the number and just as long as the charge stays on the credit card which will eventually be credited. I dunno, I'm seriously thinking about doing this.

If you don't want Sony products, maybe you should consider other cards that either gives out cash or gc...
