And remember, the Sony Points you earn by buying the item can be applied to the purchase.

by doing this...

I am requesting (choose all that apply):

1. TRIPLE/BONUS Sony Points...
2. A CREDIT* to my Sony Card account ...

Hi, everyone. glad to see so many people's contribution to this thread. I have a form I saved on my hdd at the end of last year or very early this year when I bought a Sony remote and requested a credit. On this form, it has 4 options:

=========================================
I am requesting (choose one):

_____ double Sony Points on Sony merchandise

_____ triple Sony Points on Sony merchandise purchased from a participating retailer

_____ a purchase credit for an item purchased at a participating retailer

_____ triple Sony Points and a purchase credit for Sony merchandise purchased from a participating retailer
=========================================

You can choose only one but the last selection allow you to get the point toward to your redemption purchase -- unless Citi changed programe. I got this when I purchased a 15" LCD for my daughter a few years ago ($490 at that time for a 15").

If someone can tell me where I can put this form, I would like to share it with all of you. I emailed to 2 who pm'd me already. Just don't kill me if Citi doesn't allow to use this version any more.

(Can I post the form here? It is a word doc so very easy to put in here. Advise pls.)

too bad I have to purchase only Sony products to be able to redeem the points.

i've spent many sleepless nights over this... but here goes:

1) tell all of your friends and relatives you have sony points, so if they are in the market for any sony products, make the purchase for them and redeem your points. then get a check back from them. sony points have magically become cash. since you get triple points back (3% back) you can also give half or all of that to your friend for the trouble...

example: charge $200 for playstation 2 (i know they are less now, just an example).... redeem your points. since i have $200 in points, i basically have used all of my points so now i have 0 points and a playstation. give playstation to friend for $200 check... sony will give you triple points, so you have 3*200 = 600 points=$6 in your account again... you can give $3 to your friend...or just keep it all.

2) buy anything sony; redeem points; sell item on ebay... you'll lose some cash but i figure that the price you pay for "cashing" your points.

I was thinking of another strategy which borderlines fraud but, my idea was to convince whichever B&M I decide to go to and ask them if I may "purchase" a Sony product, then "accidentally" lose my receipt. I could then return the merchandise for full store credit and purchase anything I want. The form does not require a UPC but just the number and just as long as the charge stays on the credit card which will eventually be credited. I dunno, I'm seriously thinking about doing this.

If you don't want Sony products, maybe you should consider other cards that either gives out cash or gc...

I've used it before to get Sony products, its just that what I am specifically looking for now, a non-Sony product is better.

The example I gave was a generic one intended for everyone.

They better figure things out SOON! June 16th is right around the corner and Citibank already has their new Diamond Preferred Program on deck to take over for the Sony Rewards program. I've got 20,000+ Sony points to redeem and so far I'm less than impressed with the details on the new program thus far, so I want to see that I could get the Sony points moved over.

Edit: I know they're offering the Diamond Preferred Program because I got mail from Citibank stating so. The mailing said my Sony points will be transferred to the new program and I'll be getting my new Card around June 16th.

I got 11,000 points I want to get rid of....

help???

I've purchased thru www.mysony.com and applied points. At checkout, use your Sony card to pay for the purchase. There is a little checkbox at the bottom that says apply Sony points (or something like that). Don't miss it, since you won't see the option again. It's before you complete your order.

I can't guarantee the box is still there since the Citibank/Sony relationship is ending soon, but in the past the points would be applied within one statement cycle. Minimum points you can apply is 1,000.

mysony.com has so-so prices. The best deals are the "Spotlight" items which seem to offer the biggest discounts.
