Yes.

I have close to 40,000 points.
I'm thinking about getting something from MySony.com, no need to fill out form, you can choose to credit during checkout.
I guess I'll get myself a TV.

I also have a Sony card and I would like to redeem my points towards a TV at BestBuy or Circuit City, how does one go about doing this?

YEAH,..PROPS TO FLIM FLAM,...over in Fat Wallet,..he's the first person I heard that type of information from.

I thought it was just rumor on the street at first, so I was a bit apprehensive; but after reading these posts, I think I should call up my credit card company now!

Thanks guys!

It turns out that half of the Sony cards are going to be switched to another card under Citibank. The other half are going to remain Sony cards, but are going to move to another bank (I don't know which bank). So, if you really want a Sony card, you can still get it, but not through Citibank.
When did you receive the notification? And if they're only moving some people, I bet they're just dumping the people who pay in full each and every month. But if they're moving me to a different bank, wouldn't I also be notified of the change?

I'm guessing the June 16 date is likely the date when points stop accruing but you'd have a little time to redeem your points. The program TOS say you should have a year afterwards (or 90 days after cancelling the card) to redeem existing points.

Can you buy a Sony product anywhere? I remember it saying something about a legitimate reseller. Anyone have a list of stores?

YES. you don't need a list of stores. buy anything with the sony brand (im not sure about sony-ericcson) and you will be credited for the purchase, and your points will be readjusted.

Where's the link to the reward items on the sony website? I used to be able to find it, now I can only go to the registration page.

Or can someone give me a detailed step by step method of redeeming the sony points in a brick/mortar store...

it looks like they took teh point redemption form offline. the only form they have left is for triple points when purchasing a sony product

those b*stards

i am going to call them soon to find out where it is and how we can get a copy of it

oh, their login doesnt quite work either, i had to fanangle the link to even get to the correct page (notice how the link says UnRegistered, get rid of the Un and it gets you where you want to be).

Yes, it's true Sony is going to have a "better" program (whatever that will be).
However, it seems like it won't be a Citi card anymore.
If you go to Citi website, you can no longer find Sony card as one of the reward cards.

If you want to redeem your points, I think the easy way is go to MySony.com.
Sure, their prices are about average only.
But if you can find what you want, there is no need to fill out a redemption form.
You can choose to have it credited during checkout process, they even credited me tax.

i take it back -- the form above has both the triple points and the sony card credit. it is a checkbox on the form for you to specify. but, their website is still screwy

she also confirmed that all points will be transferred to the new program...and she also mentioned it gonna be a better program also...so we'll have to wait it out...
so don't redeem all ur points just yet

Well, you have to wonder how it's going to work.
On one hand there is Citi, and on the other there is Sony.
Obviously, Sony will have to look for another CC issuer.
However, Citi will probably issue you a new card as well.
I don't want one CC to become two CC's.

Well I hope they give us some information soon about the new program and how we can redeem the points. I thought we were able to cash the points out on our own, without having to purchase anything. But then I have only cashed the points out once, and that was when I bought the Sony TV. I used to think that this card was the best available, still not bad but too bad I have to purchase only Sony products to be able to redeem the points.

Oh and thanks for the heads up, I don't read anything from citibank anymore since I pay my CC online and don't bother to read the statements.

i've spent many sleepless nights over this... but here goes:

1) tell all of your friends and relatives you have sony points, so if they are in the market for any sony products, make the purchase for them and redeem your points. then get a check back from them. sony points have magically become cash. since you get triple points back (3% back) you can also give half or all of that to your friend for the trouble...

example: charge $200 for playstation 2 (i know they are less now, just an example).... redeem your points. since i have $200 in points, i basically have used all of my points so now i have 0 points and a playstation. give playstation to friend for $200 check... sony will give you triple points, so you have 3*200 = 600 points=$6 in your account again... you can give $3 to your friend...or just keep it all.

2) buy anything sony; redeem points; sell item on ebay... you'll lose some cash but i figure that the price you pay for "cashing" your points.

Hmm, I don't know you can get points back for redeemed item, interesting.
You don't have to pay shipping or tax right?
I guess I'll get my 20" TV and a PS2 controller.
I'll probably be using Shell MC as my main card now.
1% cash is better than $1 for expensive Sony item.

You don't get triple points back on a redemption (I don't remember if they let you keep the points from the purchase). They're exclusive to each other so you end up with:
- playstation, 0 points (maybe 200 pts), $200 charged to card, $200 credited back from redemption
or
- playstation, 600 points, $200 charged to card

Select the SONY CARD hyperlink under
http://www.my.sony.com/links.aspx (You'll need to register at mySony.com)
to find items you can redeem your points for (free S&H).

However, you'll get better selection (and possibly value) by purchasing SONY products on your SONY CARD at any B&M & submit a claim form.

Yeah, but I'm too lazy.
Free shipping and no tax is good enough for me.

yes you do. i've done this before. plus...

And remember, the Sony Points you earn by buying the item can be applied to the purchase.

by doing this...

I am requesting (choose all that apply):

1. TRIPLE/BONUS Sony Points...
2. A CREDIT* to my Sony Card account ...

so, not exclusive. have fun.

<jaw drops>. Damn! They subtly changed the form! I redeemed points back in '00 and they rejected my claim when I selected both (the claim form back then was this convoluted mess of garbage and involved sacrificing a live chicken) but they let me resubmit with choosing only bonus points or a purchase credit. So now you can get both?!?

Gah, I'm going back to kindergarten so my future self doen't get shafted like this in the future.
