When more and more people jump on this deal, it will turn sour.
Luckily, when I saw the price of nikon 995 up, I fired my claim right away with my cart printout. I got the check last friday. Now I can enjoying the camera while feeling sorry for american blue.

They always give you a claim number when you call in. It's the "auditors" that will catch the PM and may or may not honor it based on the rules. Just because you file it does not mean you will get it. It still needs to be approved.

optical, did you have the amex rep verify and approve the price match on the spot, or does it depend on you sending in the supporting documentation etc.

Amex used to allow the rep to verify the website price while you are on the phone with them. They told me while I was doing my pricematch an hour ago that they will no longer allow that. You will have to fax or mail it to them.

quick question--when requesting a price match through amex blue, do you have to take into consideration the shipping cost for the store with which you're doing the price match? the reason i ask is that i received free shipping and no tax from photoalley, and i'm wondering which store i should use to PM. some stores have cheaper prices for the camera, but more expensive shipping costs. just want to make sure i make the right decision here. thanks!

Amex only considers the price of the item at both places, they don't care about tax or shipping.

Will the claims work on non-register credit card ?

If I registered only one credit card with any buyer assurance(beside amex one) and if I buy an item with another credit card, can I make a claim for that item?

Thanks.

I have a question about Cnet Advantage program.
Does it work exactly same as AMEX blue if I only pay $4.95/mo? See, I have a Student AMEX blue, and this card do not offer price protection program.
Do you think it is worth to join the CNET Advantage program since I do not have AMEX Blue?
Please give me any advice.
Thank you.

What are the Amex cards for anyways? Everyone always talks about them, like with pricematching and stuff? Can someone enlighten me? Thanks.

First off, Buyerassurance changed their TOS without notifying anybody (I believe) this makes this not such a hot deal. Also, Do NOT FORGET you can always ask to speak with an examiner and have them go to their website. If you remember they started doing this a while ago. They made you talk to an examiner though. They can verify the webpage right then and there (i believe)

CNET advantage AKA Buyerassurance? are very vague in their TOS, they don't tell you exactly that they do in certain situations... For example you buy two $50 items and use a $25 coupon so a total of $75 for both. Well if you pricematch one they will take $25 off the one you pricematch.. Thus saying you paid $25 for one time and $50 for the other. Now, if this is the case, then that means technically if you bought two different items they would take the $25 coupon off each one, saying you paid $25 for each. Also, I ask them questions on their policy... The tell me to read the FAQ and the TOS... all it says is that they go up to $100... They don't mention coupons anywhere in there, they just make it up as they go to screw you.

Hmmm...just how would one speak to an examiner regarding a Buyer Assurance claim? When I asked Buyer Assurance if I could contact the examiner directly, I was told that even THEY (Buyer Assurance) could only contact them by email.

I saw this at the techbargains web sit a couple of days ago:

"After you file an Amex pricematch request, you can now email them at amexclaims@awgais.com with the url and/or web pages of the lower prices."

Is there any other great Price Protection program beside CNET Advantage & AMEX Blue?
CNET doesn't have any further information about their program..
kinda confused me..

Sorry, the Examiner was for AMEX itself not buyerassurance.. Buyer assurance is very unorganized. I asked them if I could see how much of my $2000 limit I had left, they told me I had to add it all up myself. They coudln't tell me....

CNET ZDNET MYSIMON all are BuyerAssurance and vice versa, they are intentionally vague. In fact, most of those sites you can't even get a decent TOS before they get your CC#

This may be a dumb question, but could someone tell me how I can save a web page as a PDF file to send to amex for pricematching via email? I think Smoot mentioned that he did that, but I can't quite figure out how to do it. Do I need to purchase the retail version of Adobe Acrobat to do something like that? Thanks.

Sure man..

Instal Adobe Acrobat. It will then show up as a printer along with your other printers.

So when you go to print a web page go to " File>Print " this will pop up a dialog box that has all the printers listed. (if you just click your printer icon it will go to your default printer automatically) Now Simply select "Acrobat PDFWriter" and click "print" it will now bring up a "save PDF as" dialog box. Give it a file name and a destination then click "save". BINGO!

I recall that the CSRs generally aren't against letting you have the pricematches, but rather their managers are sticklers...
I did a few BVG pricematches (3 of the same product) and the CSR did everything quickly but generally, if you have a date somewhere, they let it through. I seriously doubt there are too many people dirt digging BVG... and I recall that the limit is $1k? I've already used 750 =p

here are some other ideas:
email them the URL or take a screen print, paste into a program like paintshop pro, save that file with a name and email that as an attachment. You can also save pdf files but I'm not sure if the free reader does that or you need the whole program.
I would use the method that doesn't require them to have special software to open it. One would assume they have acrobat reader, but who knows?
in MS-Internet explorer, you can also go to FILE> SEND> Page by email.

This program may let you create PDFs. No guarentees, as I've never personally tried it.
