thanks for the tips stingygrrl and thyme. unfortunately i'm running on win98 so i can't try out the program that you linked to thyme. i may just end up email the url's if that's enough for amex.

Hey Macho, Why don't correct your post to "I was wrong?"

I just successfully Pm'ed and asked what the change was. THere was none for me becuase my printer prints dates at the bottom of the ads. That was the reason acc'd to several CSR's. Further, you can simply email them the URL. What's the big friggin deal?

In my experiences with BuyersAssurance (also probably applies to its clones), they will take any coupons and/or promotional gift certificates (like Amazon promos) off of your pricematch. They also figure the cost of shipping against you.

Although I still have gotten far more than my initial investment back, it sometimes pays to know all the factors that they will assess against you.

Also, the CSRs at BuyersAssurance have no real knowledge or power. Anytime that I had a real issue that needed to be addressed, I was told that they would forward my concern on to someone that could help me. They will also respond to e-mail requests for help.

I just tried for file by Best Value Guarantee claim for my Coolpix 995 from Photoalley.com against the RegencyCamera.com ad. The CSR asked if there was a rebate involved. I decided not to lie and she told me that items with coupons or rebates are excluded from the price match. When I complained that I've never heard of this before, she said to send in the claim anyway and that it is up to the examiner to decide. Yikes, that may be $250 down the drain!

In case anyone is interested, I did get a hardcopy letter dated December 12 saying that my BVG claim was being denied because "We do not cover rebates under the program." Then, I come back yesterday from vacation only to find a check from Amex for $250 under the BVG program! I guess they either relented because too many people were upset or they made a mistake and processed my claim anyway. In any case, I am !

I have tried to use the price matching with the Amex Blue, but they seem to have a reason on why they cannot fulfill the request. So all I can say is goodbuy to Amex, because it just is not worth the headaches of following their procedures that they have posted, only to find (in my opinion) they have changed the rules yet again.
