Mine arrived on Friday afternoon. It looks like they took unsold ones, took the battery out, put an R on the end of the model number, and sent it out. They have a UPS sticker and an outer plastic envelope that you're supposed to take the paper out of and put inside the box before sending back to them.

My APC BE-350 is broken in just 2 month, when the first time my house lost power. I was thinking "Oh well, this tiny thing should last at least 3 mins, enough time for me to backup." But the computer is actually OFF. When the power backed up, the "Replace Battery" indicator started flashing, for days. So I have to take out the battery. Now it ends up as a surge protector, at least I hope it will protect...

Sound like it's overloaded.

Thanks for the heads up. I had one NIB that I bought at Staples a few months ago and have not used yet. Glad I never hooked it up.

haven't gotten mine yet, i was checking on how others were doing. had to get 2 units replaced, CS 500 from the MC deal and CS 350 for my store.. what a pain.

i love their compensation plan, just unplug it and take the battery out, have no ups for over a week or two, but at least IT WON"T CATCH ON FIRE!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Murve:
You may want to unbox the unit, plug it in, and charge. These UPS's (like most) have Lead-acid batteries in them. Lead Acid batteries do NOT like being drained-they like being fully charged. Letting them sit there and discharge like that WILL perminately shorten their life.

My replacement arrived today. I am now using it.

It came with prepaid, self-addressed UPS Ground shipping. I'll just have to carry it to the nearest UPS drop off location.

Has anyone (like me) got their replacement without any UPS prepaid sticker or any instructions on shipping it back to them? All I got (both inside and in the pouch on the outside of the box) was the new unit, their little quality-assurance printout, and a half-page with my shipping address and the RMA number. Guess this means that I don't have to ship it back, but I wanted to check with the group before I throw away the old fire hazard model.

Oh, mine shipped from Warwick, RI, in case they've got a couple locations shipping these out...

Got mine today, also that address (post above), and it included an instruction sheet and a return UPS shipping label.

I got mine yesterday and it didn't have the UPS return label or instructions either. No sweat though, as I wasn't planning on returning it to them.

Any of y'all going to keep using the old one?

I received both of mine Fri., but 1 was definately RECONDITIONED as it had a bottom corner dented in like it was dropped or something, has scuff marks on it, the rubber feet on the bottom are moved out of place, and there are two differnet test tickets, one doesn't even belong to the serial number. So, I'm calling them up cause I want one that hasn't been abused.

Edit: The new one runs more hot then the older one. Hum....

Got mind today but it only comes with the units "no battery"? So are we suppose to use the old battery with it?

Yep, you're supposed to take the battery out and put it in the replacement. You kind of have to yank the battery out to get the two wire clips off of it.

update: The new one has settled in and is the same temp as the second old one.

Got mine today, and noticed that it had a patch of sticker "scunge" on the top......as if the label that reminds you to place the battery inside the unit was taken off, then a new label placed back on the unit. Could be reconditioned, for sure.

I wonder if they'll take the one I send back, recondition it, and send it back out to someone else as a replacement unit? Too bad I can't figure out a way to send a "message in a bottle" that way, just to see if I ever get an answer back! LOL
