solution when they get here - dont deposit it, just go to a check cashing place. pay them their $2 or whatever, better than bounce fees.

what'll happen if it's bad check?
I've got $80 out right now on Cendyne rebates. A $50 rebate for a 4x DVD drive from Staples and a $30 rebate out for a 52x cd burner from Officemax. Both rebates are being handled by Rebateshq.com and are in their final stages of approval. I had to call Rebateshq last week for another rebate and asked about the Cendyne situation. The CSR is putting in a note and doesn't know anything about the rebate's not being paid out.Well, for starters your financial institution will charge you a returned check fee, usually around $6-10.

Anyway... If I get a Cendyne rebate check and it bounces, I'm taking the cancelled check immediately over to Officemax or Staples and showing it to the manager along with my other documentation. I will not leave the store until the manager pays me for it.

We apologize for the inconveniences that this message may cause you, but unfortunately
CenDyne is closing its doors and going out of business. This is why, there will not be any
more warranty services provided to customers.
I also tried skipping the Cendyne support page, and filled out RMA request at Verbatim's site.
The response was the same.
So it seems that other brands are using this Cendyne collapse as a way to get out of their own problems.
This Verbatim drive is actually a BenQ.
I talked to Robb Evans and Associates (1-818-768-8100), on Thursday I was told that there was no money and resubmitted rebate checks were "not" being paid.Originally posted by: jdepew
I just went by OMax yesterday and spoke with the store mananger. He checked the OMax intranet and found they had posted on 8/28 that the account from which the checks were writted has been re-opened and that customers should re-deposit the checks and they will repay for any returned check charges.
So, you DO have to go into your local store and they'll send an internal email to some corp office to get your fee paid out.
Lets hope it works this time.

When you send in Cendyne rebates, they do not go directly in to Cendyne. They go to a rebate submission company called "Parago".
Right now the rumor floating around is that OM corp is going to pay Parago to honor the Cendyne rebates. This is not set in stone, but we hope this is what will come of it. If you are having a problem with a rebate, take it back to the store in question [Omax] and request to talk to the store manager. They will [hopefully] contact Parago on your behalf and see if they can work out the rebate problem.
Don't just go screaming into the store yelling about getting your $50 [or whatever denomination it is supposed to be] just because Parago denied you. Irate customers are not fun to deal with and usually get treated worse then customers that come in with their heads screwed on correctly. Please be courteous, we didn't tell the rebate companies to reject you, we just work at your local B&M.
