Thats great news, but what about the checks we are getting now for the manu. ? Should we wait to cash those?

I bought a Cendyne CDRW at Staples in May and got my $40 rebate check from Rebatehq about 2 weeks ago, I didn't cash it because I read that they just went bankrupt. Well I called the Staples store I bought it from last Friday and talked to the manager about it and he first asked if the check bounced so he already knew about the problem. He said that as of last Wednesday that Staples made sure the money was their to pay the rebates and to go ahead and cash the check. He gave me his name and said if I had any problems with it to call him. I went ahead and cashed the rebate check today(Monday), i'll post back if it bounces or goes through.

That's good to know. All of this talk about OfficeMax and my $30.00 rebate check is from Staples! It should be arriving any day now.

At the very bottom it says " We apologize for any delay you experienced in receiving this check. However Cendyne Inc the sponsor of the rebate, has been placed into a receivership by the california courts, and has ceased funding this rebate program. We are happy to inform you that Staples Inc, the retailer from whom you purchased your cebdyne product, has chosen to fund your rebate check in the place of CenDyne, in order to ensure the best possible experience to you, as valued Staples customer."

Thanks for posting that! It is very good news. I was fairly certain that OM would take care of me, but was concerned that there was no "official" word from Staples. Until now.

I got my check today, there is a note on the check that Staples has chosen to funded the rebate check.

Today I recieved a $40 check fom Staples for a CDRW I bought from them several months ago with a note telling me they were under no obligation on the rebate as it was a Cendyne rebate, but for the sake of good customer relations they are making it good. Yes! I just got my $50 rebate check today for the 4x Cendyne DVD+RW drive. On the top of the check, there was a Staples logo and on the bottom of it where you tear off the tab before you cash the check, there was a note from Staples basically saying that Cendyne is no more, they won't be paying out my rebate, but since I bought the drive from Staples, they are paying my rebate for Cendyne. Cool!

Would be better if they would just sell them for less, most aren't even going to bother returning it still good profit. One of the most reason people return stuff for refund is when they realized that they can get it for less elsewhere. This is much hassle thats why I never bothered buy anything with something attached to it even if i means free AR, with them holding onto your money for 2 months or more, it makes my skin crawl.

All these checks from Staples are great. I even got one myself. However, I've got more $$$ tied up with OM/Cendyne deals. I hope to see similar posts regarding OM soon.

BTW, aren't OM and Staples connected somehow? I have a vague recollection of that. If that is the case, then I'd expect OM to follow suit.

I'm glad that I decided to only buy Cendyne drives from Staples after April (and just 1 drive). I got the $40 check today.

I also took photocopies of the April Cendyne DVD-ROM rebate to Fry's today. The girl looked at the rebate and just said that the "home office" will take care of it. Usually they call and resubmit it, but she said they're aware of the problems with Cendyne and I didn't have to explain anything. Fry's corporate did take care of the flaky DSD rebates last time I had trouble and I got paid for those. At least it looks like I will get all Cendyne rebates paid.
