Except on this CPU. Since it is Slot 1 and 100 fsb there is some demand for it even though faster CPUs can be bought for less.

A 1Ghz FCPGA with a 133MHz bus and a slot adapter is about $40 cheaper. Any suggestions on slot adapters?

I have a slot 1 100FSB mobo and was told that if I decide to get a fcpga chip that has 133fsb and chose to set the slotket to be in 100fsb mode I get a performance decrease.

I assume that is correct because the multiplier is the same but with a decrease of the FSB I would get less perfomance. IE: 10 x 100 = 1000/1GHZ. I'm not sure what the multiplier is for the 133fsb chips. Tell me if I'm wrong. Thanks.

It would be 7.5: 7.5x133=1000
Therefore, you'd only be able to run the cpu at 7.5X100= 750Mhz, not a wise investment.

My MB can be set to 133 MHz, so I'm not going to take the hit. Thanks for the MWave link; the ones on sale locally only support up to 100MHz.

Checked on Pricewatch.com

Several companies are carrying the Slot1 1ghz for 165-175+ ship.......

Edit: The NewEgg link posted right above this post points to some memory for me...not a CPU

Kanio1, how do you get your BH6 to run a P3 1GHz proc? I have the oldest version and it only supports up to 600 with the newest bios. The revision 1.1 board supports up to 850 MHz.

Goto this site for info on BH6 boards, Click Me
Some of these guy's/gal's have run processors well beyond what is recommended.

Good luck

oh hell, how do you NOT get a BH6 to run a 1000 ? Those boards are STILL going strong and with a P3 1Ghz can pretty much run any game out comfortably now. Make sure you are running the SS Bios and you will have no problems at all.

Well I might as well jump in here. I'm looking for a FC-PGA P3 1GHZ at 100FSB. I'd prefer not to overclock my BX6 R2 hence the 100FSB. I've been searching the web for these for weeks. Of course I am assuming they would be cheaper than the slot 1 version.

They make them. Anyone seen where to buy them?

Socket is cheaper than slot and I was under the impression that socket is more easily cooled.

What is the advantage to slot?

I don't supposed the BH6 with SS bios would run the new Celeron 1.0A...would it? I think this is the Tualatin core with .13 process and 256k (in effect a P3 with 100 FSB) of L2 cache. If not, would the old Coppermine 1.0 Celeron run on the BH6? This could be an interesting upgrade for my old system.
