I've been patient with Cyberwings. However, after Saturday's promise was broken, I think I've had enough. I just lost $57. Dammit!

I remember the hot deals thread where a few people including myself posted to caution everything that this sounds too good to be true, and is probably a scam. A few people didn't want to believe it outright, and said we were clueless. But the majority of the people who signed up for CW said that it could be a scam, but its only a few dollars, and what do they have to lose. Well, forward to a month or so later, why are some of you guys such crybabies? Get over it....you said before it was only a few dollars...and in the worst case, you'll just lose a dollar or two...well, now you lost it! So get over it. Instead of trying to get paypal to magically give your money back and following this thing every second of the day, get on with your life! It was obviously a scam from the start...and for those of you guys that are naive enough to believe in it in the first place you deseve to lose a few dollars.

rootaxs,

I've used RackShack and it's parent company for 2 years, and my understanding is the same as your's.

Also, while I've seen mention from CW of a 'disclosure' agreement. Uhhh... I don't remember signing one, and I've never seen anyone else here mention it.

But, there is an agreement. And it basically says you who rents it, are respondsible for what goes in and comes out. Spamming for example, is frowned upon. Big Time.

See, these guys really are establishing a community and trying to supply the needed bandwidth.

Did all the RS accounts go down at the same time ? Assuming they were brought on line with different anniversary dates, how does that happen ?

And since the standard drag is a hundred bucks a box, you'd think maybe one could have been kept up. You know, in case you wanted to keep your 'community' informed.

(Even at that rate, his initial 'loss leader' rate could never have been maintained, with modest bandwidth considerations, let alone the bug zappers that followed.)

preCRT has linked an article discussing the Cobalts, above. I agree that a real company can only keep their production equipment off line for a limited amount of time. I'm just not sure how in the world RS could accomodate those who would like to get the data files backed-up and d/l'd. But if an effort were to be made, it would need to start pretty quick.

Ya know, there are nicer ways to say 'I told you so' without being such a complete asshole. Try them sometime.

Count me and a couple of friends that lost some money ($3.90). I called and PayPal and they said to dispute the charges even if it has been more than 30 days. If they get enough complaints they will look into it. Hopefully they can track this guy down.

Edit: I don't know what you do prior to 30 days. But I think yoiu use the Buyer Complaint Process after 30 days.

I am one of the several hundred he told. I admit I do not like being told over and over that I was told but I think that calling names should be beneath us. Now if you can point me at our ex provider, I will be glad to serve the papers on him, follow him around with a vidio cam and crew, question each and every person that we see him come in contact with for our documentary on small time scams.

Let your States Attorneys Offices know, there are even feds who want to know about him as this smacks of interstate fraud. Do not call names, kick his butt with every agency we can get involved. He may have our money and we will never see it again, but we can make it very hard for him to keep any of it. His lawyers will love us tho.

I just disputed the $19.50 I paid to CW thru 2checkout.com. Don't know what would happen, but that's all I am going to lose. If they reverse the charge, I guess 2checkout.com will lose out. I feel sorry for them, but that's the risk they get when dealing with unknown company.

people who spent more than $10 here... (myself included... I think I spent like 11-12 bucks) are PLAIN STUPID!

If it looks bad...it probably is! Sure, I enjoyed the SHORT service that I got...but MAN.... what kind of MORON REALLY believes that this is going to LAST?

Long time reader coming out of lurk mode just to throw in my $0.02.

I'm reasonably OK with the fact that I will never see my $20 again, and I managed to keep a good copy of my data on my drive (woohoo!). I am more concerned with the fact that I fell for this scam. I really feel awful for ya'll who lost so much more than I.

Last week, I decided to move to Dixiesys, and so far so good. I don't have to worry about biometric scans, empty promises, or madmen who are prolly sitting on the beach in Cancun sipping margaritas at my (our) expense. My site hasn't been down, the setup was quick and easy, and for $4/month I am getting both of my sites hosted. That's all I wanted in the first place.

Now I want a chance to kick CEO Shawn square. Just once. Bastard.

According to the TOS we signed for the account any "disputes" will be fought and a $50 fee will be charged. Not that they would follow through. I'd rather lose 4.95 than $50.

CEO-Shawn can pay for anything... after all, he's king in his Cyberwings world of make believe. I'm sure the lawyers and see the injustice against Shawn and help him out of sheer principle.

I've taken the advise of many people in this thread and picked Dixiesys. They've been perfect, prompt, and courteous. Oh, yeah -- they've been UP too.. And they're running July specials, too.

why don't we just start our own hosting community.. we could get anand to throw together a few parts and stick it in with his other servers.

most of us just a simple site... almost no bandwidth, and almost no space.... just features out the wazoo....

that would be cool...

but hey... the soap opera's not over.

Who knows, when this is over, we might be watching a movie about it on the BIG SCREEN

The only thing i would pay to see is for a ceremonial ass kicking of CEO.

Today has to be nearly the end - Geek posted a customer's phone number in the channel (that is still under moderation, by the way). If there is anyone who thinks that this is the way to run a business, then education and common sense have failed greatly...

we should put together a money pool for whoever kicks Shawn's ass. Of course we need pictures for proof. I personally will put in $10 for someone to kick his ass. I imagine that we can put together $1,000. We know what he looks like.
