Just thought I would let everyone know that megatoners.com has gone from being GREAT to **** I just got my most recent order only to find that megatoners.com has ripped off the bottom flap off of all the color cartridges (9 out of a 18 cart order,) now of course this wouldn't normally be a big deal but, the bottom flap is where the EXPIRATION DATE IS!!!!

Obviously this is not a good thing and more importantly this causes me to seriously rethink if the prices at megatoners aren't so low for a different reason than bulk buying.

I have called and left a message but as of right now I would reccomend against ordering from megatoners until I can find out what they are doing over there in NY.

I ordered friday, got my ink today. Ordered two black and one color. All 3 of mine are fine, although they are the "G&G" brand
I have an Epson C40 and I am hoping they won't clog the print heads

I'm just upset that I was defending the heck out of them in a few threads recently, now I have to eat crow.

By the way the G&G cartridges were fine the problematic ones were "High Performance" never got those carts before.

What type of cartridge did you order? The Epson cartridges I have gotten, probably fifty of them, have all been good with reasonable expiration dates that were not ripped off.

I've only had bad experiences with ink from megatoners and 123inkjets. If you value the quality of your prints and the longevity of your printer, stick with the real stuff.

Yeah I know, but this area gives the most exposure to any deal, hot or otherwise.

They were epson's as well. I have probably ordered similiar amounts, with similiar results, I have always had great service until today. Which is why I said that at least until I get a response, that people should shy away from megatoners.com

I will respond as soon as they do.

Agreed. Ordered many color & black cartridges for EPSON 875DC and Canon i320 from megatoners. Those 875DC ones are G&G brand and i320 ones are no-brand (only can see 'made in China'). Photo prints look fine separately, but if you compare them side-by-side with pictures printed by genuine cartridges, you will see the difference easily. And I did clean the print nozzles after replacing the cartridges.

If you want the best photo quality out of your printer, unfortunately you need to use genuine cartridges

Mark, I ordered 18 ink cartridges (6 were color) for my Epson 860 from megatoners.com early last month and I too received the "High Performance" color cartridges with the bottom flap torn off. Since I only paid $31.50 for all 18, I didn't pay much attention to the torn packages because I thought maybe they were using old boxes for packaging. But you are right; this is where the expiration date is posted. Maybe that's why the cartridges were so cheap. I just installed one of the color cartridges earlier today and will see how it turns out. Let me know what you find out from megatoners.

Thanks for responding ULI I thought maybe they might just be picking on me.

I would reccomend that you too contact megatoners.com, even though the cartridges may work now, they may not in a year when you reach the end of your batch.

Call megatoners and ask them what the deal is. I'm curious as to their excuse. Maybe these had some sticker on them they had to take off.
Then again the expiration date is suspicious. They will probably work anyway.

I've ordered 8 sets of cartridges from Megatoners. True, the quality of the ink isn't all that great, but when all I do is print out papers and the occassional web page, who's to complain? 8 x $20 (retail of Epson) = $160. 8 x $3 (megatoners) = $24+shipping. I got the Epson 880 during the Dell deal a few years back, which cost me $40. The "real" stuff just isn't worth it, unless you're printing out photos.

Bad inks hurt more than just the print quality. They clog you print head. You end up doing more clearning than printing.

Megatoners used to carry the "Fullmark" brand. It was ok with my Epson Photo. But "G&G" color cartridges are really bad. You should not even try you luck. I have less problem with the black ink.

I see many here have taken the FUD campaigns of the manufacturers to heart. Probably believe every word Micrsoft has printed about Linux as well.

When the focus with most aftermarket ink cartridges is not to create a high quality alternative, but the cheapest possible alternative with little concern of quality, it only helps the printer manufacturer's campaign to keep people on genuine cartridges.

I'd rather pay $6 for a high quality aftermarket cartridge than $2 for a crap cartridge from Megatoners. Problem is, paying triple what Megatoners charges is no guarantee you'll get a better cartridge. These other places are likely just selling the same crap at a much higher markup.

Sounds like they were about to expire soon. Another possibility would be that they bought-up store surplus and a price tag was attached, I?ve had this happen before from other bargain sites. I?d call them and ask what?s up. Knowing this, I?ll look somewhere else until I hear a good explanation.

I've always had good prices and prompt service from www.extracartridges.com. They also have some sort of referral program (never invesitgated it) and send out monthly emails that actually have valuable sales.

I have no association with them.

I also buy from extracartridges.com. We use their cartridges in 3 Epson printers in our office and 2 Epson printers here at home. I buy the black cartridges which come in the blue box and are the cheapest. For color I buy the Nectron brand from them which is slightly more expensive. All of their cartridges have long expiration dates of 15 months or more. Never had the slightest problem with them.

The order almost always comes in 2 days because they ship Priority Mail. If you buy more than 10 cartridges at a time, they use UPS. But if you request it , they will ship Priority Mail on the more than 10 cartridges order.

I highly recommend them. I am not associated with them in any way.

Right now they have a special on the blue box cartridges thru Jan 15th. Go here.

atlascopy.com sure has alot of info on their site. They say they buy from a company that specializes in formulations that closely match the printer manufacturer. Is this just bullshit or true? This ink thing is fascinating. I wonder if a manufacturer like Canon mixes their own inks, or just buys them by the tanker truck from some company, or does some of both. Anyone got some inside info on how this works?
