I've had shipments where the FedEx guy just plopped my box in front of the door and left without even waiting to see if I would come to the door.
FedEx, UPS and USPS drivers do that around here if the shipper did not specifically call for "signature required." Requiring a signature is normal for commercial addresses, but costs extra for residential deliveries. I've watched them from my second floor window, they'll scan package on their truck, then walk it up to the door, put it down, ring doorbell and then take off right away.

To me, Newegg has been going down hill recently.
They've been slowly sliding down that hill for a while now. For a few years more and more items listed on their site say "manufacturer's warranty only" meaning once it is ordered, you're on your own. You're SOL even on stuff that arrives DOA. Go to the site and try to RMA, won't let you on "manufacturer's warranty only" items. Guess what? Some manufacturers are pretty difficult to deal with. Anything "OEM" is a vendor warranty and the manufacturer doesn't want to hear from end users. Also, many motherboard manufacturers do not want to deal with end users. Pricing is another thing with Newegg... besides their magically increasing prices on popular items, used to be that you could just buy from them and know it was cheapest or close to cheapest, don't have that fuzzy feeling these days. I'd overlook the slightly higher prices if I knew they would stand behind what they sell. Then there are the magically stacking shipping costs...

Just hope you never need to make an insurance claim with UPS. It is nearly impossible to get them to admit fault. If you read the fine print of what you are signing, you will see that they have ridiculous requirements as far as packing goes in order to collect on insurance.
UPS has a page on their site with guidelines for proper packaging. Just follow that to
reduce your chances of them denying claims. I've had claims denied with both UPS and FedEx.

People can't complain about individual drivers. When I was growing up we had the same UPS driver forevery until he retired. He was great and we would give him warm cookies and milk and he always had something to talk about.
Yeah, twice in the past decade we've had long term UPS drivers that did their job properly. We'd get accustomed to their "usual" delivery times and knew them on a first name basis. Don't know why, but in the past year or so (before I moved) we were getting random drivers at random times of day.

However, out of a whole system build I only ordered 2 things from newegg because they were jacking me on shipping for the whole order. They never did that before with a lot of things being shipped for free when they were small or didn't weight much. Now they seem to be padding the shipping costs a bit.
Uh, they've been doing this a lot. Things have a "per item" shipping charge. Order two of an item, get charged double shipping, even when you know it won't cost them double (unless a case or monitor).

What really irritates me is the whole verified address thing. I understand the reasons for it, but that doesn't make it any more convenient. Neither my bank nor either of my CC issuers will accept additional verifiable addresses. Noone's home at my place during the day, and the nearest FedEx is a almost an hour round trip (more with traffic) and even farther for UPS.
I got around that in the past by having my CC bill mailed to work. Never had a problem... mail would be handed to me instead of left in the mailbox at home. Vendors never had a problem with delivery - some places even charged less shipping because it was a commercial address. Never had packages "left on doorstep."

Regardless of the carrier, I sit on my tail, order something I wish to have and a few days later it is at my doorstep.
Yay for online shopping.

UPS... anyway, i used to think FedEx was better but I've had cases delivered by both and have arrived with the box damaged and sometimes even the cases themselves...
Yup, they all have faults.
My own thoughts and experiences... I've had stuff damaged/delayed by pretty much every shipper. I think of shipping companies as I think of broadband or cellular companies. All companies have horror stories. You just have to find the one that works best in your area, and stick with them.
