Ah, thank you UPS for only delivering 2 of the packages that are supposedly on your truck and telling me you are missing a bunch of stuff when I ask where the other package is. And thank you for stacking way too much crap on top of my case and LCD like you do every other time you deliver something.

The only way to improve on ups is if more people use ups. People who are use to fedex say fedex is bettter. You got fedex hater and ups hater as well, these people either have the worst luck or just very spoiled consumer. They need to get a grip that their both shipping company like Intel and Amd, like comparing apple and oranges. Neither is worse, neither is better.

Yes, UPS is definitely business-centric. My office isn't a good place to have things delivered for various reasons. Maybe the UPS employees around here just hate doing the residential routes so much that they try to piss off every customer. But whether it is caused by vengance, ineptutude, dishonesty or whatever, they suck big time compared to anybody else.

I gotta say, I like FedEx a lot more than UPS. As mentioned by several others, my UPS packages have always arrived looking like they barely survived an Afghani thermobaric cave bombing. My last UPS box came in with the tag half ripped off. The guy had to pop the tracking number in manually as the sticker was so demolished it couldn't be scanned. And this was a COMMERCIAL delivery - I never have stuff delivered to my home because there's too many shady people near my apt. building.
Just about all of my FedEx boxes look like they're being handed to me from the shipper directly. I've never had a creased or torn box from them.

I ordered from SVC.com on Monday and had it shipped UPS. I expected it to get here(Illinois) on Friday. Well it would have but it said a late train has delayed it until Monday. With Fedex shipping the same distance, I would have had it Wednesday or Thursday.

FedEx, UPS and USPS drivers do that around here if the shipper did not specifically call for "signature required." Requiring a signature is normal for commercial addresses, but costs extra for residential deliveries. I've watched them from my second floor window, they'll scan package on their truck, then walk it up to the door, put it down, ring doorbell and then take off right away.

To me, Newegg has been going down hill recently.
They've been slowly sliding down that hill for a while now. For a few years more and more items listed on their site say "manufacturer's warranty only" meaning once it is ordered, you're on your own. You're SOL even on stuff that arrives DOA. Go to the site and try to RMA, won't let you on "manufacturer's warranty only" items. Guess what? Some manufacturers are pretty difficult to deal with. Anything "OEM" is a vendor warranty and the manufacturer doesn't want to hear from end users. Also, many motherboard manufacturers do not want to deal with end users. Pricing is another thing with Newegg... besides their magically increasing prices on popular items, used to be that you could just buy from them and know it was cheapest or close to cheapest, don't have that fuzzy feeling these days. I'd overlook the slightly higher prices if I knew they would stand behind what they sell. Then there are the magically stacking shipping costs...

Just hope you never need to make an insurance claim with UPS. It is nearly impossible to get them to admit fault. If you read the fine print of what you are signing, you will see that they have ridiculous requirements as far as packing goes in order to collect on insurance.
UPS has a page on their site with guidelines for proper packaging. Just follow that to reduce your chances of them denying claims. I've had claims denied with both UPS and FedEx.

People can't complain about individual drivers. When I was growing up we had the same UPS driver forevery until he retired. He was great and we would give him warm cookies and milk and he always had something to talk about.
Yeah, twice in the past decade we've had long term UPS drivers that did their job properly. We'd get accustomed to their "usual" delivery times and knew them on a first name basis. Don't know why, but in the past year or so (before I moved) we were getting random drivers at random times of day.

However, out of a whole system build I only ordered 2 things from newegg because they were jacking me on shipping for the whole order. They never did that before with a lot of things being shipped for free when they were small or didn't weight much. Now they seem to be padding the shipping costs a bit.
Uh, they've been doing this a lot. Things have a "per item" shipping charge. Order two of an item, get charged double shipping, even when you know it won't cost them double (unless a case or monitor).

What really irritates me is the whole verified address thing. I understand the reasons for it, but that doesn't make it any more convenient. Neither my bank nor either of my CC issuers will accept additional verifiable addresses. Noone's home at my place during the day, and the nearest FedEx is a almost an hour round trip (more with traffic) and even farther for UPS.
I got around that in the past by having my CC bill mailed to work. Never had a problem... mail would be handed to me instead of left in the mailbox at home. Vendors never had a problem with delivery - some places even charged less shipping because it was a commercial address. Never had packages "left on doorstep."

UPS... anyway, i used to think FedEx was better but I've had cases delivered by both and have arrived with the box damaged and sometimes even the cases themselves...
Yup, they all have faults.

My own thoughts and experiences... I've had stuff damaged/delayed by pretty much every shipper. I think of shipping companies as I think of broadband or cellular companies. All companies have horror stories. You just have to find the one that works best in your area, and stick with them.

I have had a different experience with the mfg warranty only. Every item I have needed to RMA I have done it through Newegg. Doesn't matter if it's marked mfg only or not.

Re: my late package several posts up.

Just as i figured, the UPS guy didn't show up on day 4 with my UPS "3 day" shipment. Monday is day 5, if he bothers to attempt delivery before or after 6 pm at all.

UPS came today and delivered my new tennis shoes and some strings for my racquet (big tennis player). Everything came perfect. UPS guy was nice and cordial. Definately a UPS happy story.

Yeah this thread has turned into a AMD vs Intel type thread . I could write paragraphs about the shipping industry (I work for one of the carriers listed in this thread...) But I'll spare you and yes, should be locked down since it has turned into a "UPS is better for me FedEx sucks, FedEx is better for me, UPS sucks... teh Newegg is going down teh hill

I'll go to the Newegg site, log into my account, click on RMA, choose invoice... the drop down menu doesn't give any options for items that are marked "manufacturer's warranty only." I've telephoned them in a few cases and had to argue with the CS person. Been ordering $5k-10k/mo from them for a few years... no more.

Yeah. Ups can kiss my ass.

Same here. Also, Fedex = pickup location 2 miles from my house, open late. UPS = pickup location 15 miles from my house, closed at 5:30. I hate UPS.

FedEx was one of the reasons I ordered from Newegg -- it's gotten so I don't even comparison shop, I just go right to Newegg. Or I did, anyway. I guess I'll see what the difference is in shipping price, and if it's substantial I'll start shopping around. This is disappointing.

If you check reviews (pretty much anywhere) from stuff bought from Newegg, you will see that almost everyone gets their stuff a day early using Fedex. UPS on the other hand NEVER comes a day early. And the boxes are usually more beatup from UPS, in my experience.

I guess this is personal preference, but Newegg should not make the default UPS when they have used Fedex for years. Its not right to do to their customers who are used to Fedex.

I know where I live, UPS doesn't show up until night, which I just hate. Fedex will show up around noon, every time for me. They are also faster. Both Fedex and UPS are both the exact same distance from our house also.

One tip, if you have something heavy to ship, the cheapest way by far is Fedex Ground. I shipped back my 19" lcd monitor to Newegg, and it was at least $12 cheaper than UPS.

Always loved Fedex until they broke an expensive piece of wood I shipped. Then when it was shipped back to me they lost it entirely. It seems some runs are done by independant contractors who collect all the records and then have to be tracked down to place a claim. When the dust settled I got exactly $120, altho I had $500 on the original package, because as they explained when they return murchandise They Don't Insure it. And the runaround was right up there with your used car salesman when you want to take the car back. Also have mixed feelings about UPS where I hear the same thing happens.

I have only ever lost one package during delivery and that was by FEDEX
coming from Newegg.
The driver got all bent out of shape ,he insisted he dropped the package off,
the office is staffed continuously and packages are received there only.

Delivery time to the door depends on the people packing your truck for delivery.

It still shows they have two different methods of shipment and they mention that you have the choice of either one.

http://www.newegg.com/CustomerService/FAQDetail.asp?Module=4

FedX have delivered all of my orders. I rather like them over Ups. Ups has tried to deliver someone else?s order three nights in a row, I told them they could use my phone to find the person/address directions for the deliver each one of the three nights and they turned that down, only to come back and try again. I had an order shipped from Amazon on several books and quite a few DVDs worth several hundred dollars. I tracked the order daily and it finally showed it was delivered. It was not. I had a heck of a time trying to get the head customer service office to give me the local number so I could track their truck down. They gave up and gave it to me. the driver told me he knocked on the door. I asked him why didn?t he knock a little louder, or use the doorbell. I told him I was in a room, ten feet away from the front door. Someone wanted those DVDs real bad I think.

Gah! I just checked a few random items to see how much more expensive the FedEx shipping is now than the UPS option, and the difference is usually running about three bucks. Per item.

Newegg will no longer be the default choice for me. I hope they read the forums.
