*NOT HOT* OfficeMax Sold to Paper Company

I know this isn't *techincally* a Hot Deal, but I thought it was worth posting, since it pertains to so many hot deals on this forum. OfficeMax has been sold to Boise Cascade for $1.2 billion. You can read more info here:

This is surprising news, and it is not yet known how this will affect OfficeMax stores around the country. It is unlikely Boise plans to close stores, but significant restructuring could happen.

P.S. I guess you could technically put this under "Brag and Moan," with Boise bragging that they got a good deal on OMax.

Thanks for the heads-up conehead. I didn't see the previous topic in the forums, but I will expect a lock on this.

Personally, I think it's a bit dumb to be half-assed with the "hot deal" rule. IMO a post like this or the previous one is much more useful than somebody who just posts a regular price on a product at NewEgg, or repeats a price in a Best Buy ad. Neither one is really a "hot deal." But I digress, I am not a Mod. Lock at will.

The reason OM's up by 20% today is because Boise's offer included a 25% premium over Friday's close price. Expect the price to stick to $9 until te deal is sealed...
