Yah, I heard about that. Probably means they'll kill it and will never do anything useful with the IP.
Bing maps is better.
Google has street-view which is the only reason I use it.
Don't worry, Google will cancel Google Maps anyways and roll the service into Google+
Stock navigation sucks anyways, I'm shocked people even pay for it....or Garmin/navigation/aftermarket units.
Google maps is free and even with the latest shitty updates IMO it's still much better than my shitty Garmin that's been collecting dust every since I got my Android hehe
You must have had an old Garmin model, Garmin > Google Navigation. The proprietary navigation for Pioneer head units is also better. Google's offering is free, that's the really the only plus it has going for it. I honestly would pay monthly for Garmin or Pioneer's service if they weren't free over using Google for free.
Really? You like paying $2k for worse nav than you have on your phone? Even if nav is relatively good when released, its hopelessly outdated in a couple of years. Plus they typically lack traffic data without an extra fee, have expensive map updates, etc, etc.

So you don't have navigation in your vehicle? I didn't know that was possible these days.
I don't know if it's a feature of the new Google maps or just something Google has started rolling out, but suddenly I'm getting user photographs as street view options basically everywhere on the planet. I was using Google Maps to scope out Jamaica before the wife and I honeymooned there at the beginning of the month and none of it had street view; now it has user shots from basically everywhere on the island. And it's global; I spent a solid half hour revisiting the best vacation I ever took by looking at user shots from the Galapagos Islands. Crazy shit.
It's going to make Geoguessr hard as hell though...
ever since i installed it my GPS has been searching for signal constantly
Is anyone else unable to link to places anymore?
I've been looking all over the place, searched the help database, but the old "link to this page" button appears to have gone. Which renders maps essentially useless on the desktop.
Maybe it depends on the model, but both myself and my parents have Magellan units, my girlfriend has a Garmin, and Google Maps on my iPhone 5 is better than all of them.
