Not sure about upgrading

I've been thinking lately about Intel's new CPU (Nehalem). It's obviously not going to use the old LGA 775 socket, so that means when this beast is released most of us will have to upgrade our motherboards if we want this chip. Right?
Other than that we have a new graphics card series coming soon, along with DDR3 RAM making it's way into the standard.

With all these new pieces of hardware coming out does it mean that I'll pretty much have to remake a computer to accommodate this new generation?

I think it would be silly to wait. When all these new products launch - all the current stuff will still be fast and good. I just ordered a bunch of new parts myself last night and im darn sure gonna be happy with it for at least 2 years. Plus, with all the prices on these current parts so low, i think it's the prime opportunity for building. For every new set of hardware that comes out, there will just be another set on the horizon.

How much value do you hold to having the latest and the greatest?
In all honesty, the hardware that is out right now will suit most anyone's needs. Waiting 6 months to build a *slightly* better computer is probably not worth it when you consider the performance gain is going to be very minor *for you to notice.*
