i thought googlegear was a reputable company, why would they mislabel their products? and how exactly can u tell what kind of memory you're actually using?

I think they made it pretty clear that the memory they sell is Samsung RAM chips on generic PCB.

If I'm understanding you right (and I'm not mistaken, I might be), KT133 can only really utilize PC133 RAM. You need to buy a 266/266a board to utilize PC2100...and if you want to go the DDR333 route, i.e. PC2700, you should buy a KT333 board.

heh... my mistake... I meant to type KT333

I own both genuine samsung "ctl" and googlegear "generic" samsung 256 mb pc2700 ram. After both were burned in at 2.6 volts, both hit 400 mhz ddr cas 2.5,3,3,1T on default voltage (2.5volts). And it turns out that the googlegear generic samsung ram is even more stable than the genuine ctl. NOTE That these results are on default voltage (2.5v). Although it may just be me, it seems that any quality "samsung" chipped ram is good as long as u burn it in or give it a little voltage juice. Here are links to the reviews of each ram stick.
SAMSUNG "CTL" REVIEW
"GENERIC SAMSUNG" REVIEW (this memory is exactly identical to googlegear memory i bought)

How does one burn in their memory? I have read in numerous locations about a burn in process, but no one discloses how this was done.

If you're not sure if it's hot then it probably isn't. It's a long time since $80 for 256MB of any type of ram was hot.

I'm not sure if she's hot, but I have this girlfriend...

Well burning in memory nowadays is overvolting. I was totally surprised that running my memory at 2.6 volts for a while on another computer allowed my mem to overclock much better on this computer @ 2.5volts.

Thanks Xtacy,

I will overvolt my RAM for a week or so and see if it performs better at more aggressive mem timings, I had overvolted it before but only for a few hours as it did not seem to improve stability

It also depends on the ram too. Some sticks won't improve at all. But from experience and all the online sites, i would say that samsung pc2700 improve from overvolting.
