Sceptre 50" Class LCD 1080p 60Hz HDTV, X505BV-FHD for sale in Walmart with FREE shipping. Faster shipping is just under 3 bucks. Amazing price and amazing TV for the money.

I did some research, and no one, neither Newegg, nor BestBuy or Amazon has anything as big, with similar features at similar price. Not even close.

Sure, Sceptre is not a Japanese TV, but it's got good reviews on Amazon and Wallmart websites.
It is not a "smart" TV but if you got a PS3 or a Xbox 360 or a media player/HTPC you already have all the smart TV you need.

Price is $399 -Admin DrPizza

Not 120Hz? Whatever... If you do some research, you will see that most broadcasts are well under 120Hz and Blu-Ray is well under 120Hz as well. Most people cant tell the difference between 60Hz and 120Hz on a TV. Besides, for $400 I am not complaining. Snagged one today, and will update when mine arrives.

I owned a sceptre 32" for about 4 years..the backlight went out, but for the price I got it for when I purchased it (I think $199 shipped at a NE black Friday deal), I never complained. It was nice, had a crisp picture and the speakers were so much better than the Vizio and Olevia's I have owned.

Very nice deal. Wouldn't get it as my main TV, but at that price, it's a great deal for a guest room or similar.

Meh. Huge bezel, thick body, runs hot, not the greatest price around, and black friday deals are right around the corner. You can do a whole lot better for a Tier 1 TV in the coming weeks.

Yeah you can find a better plasma for about that price. I paid like 600 for a panasonic 3D 55 inch at costco 6 months ago. The picture is 500% better than this one.. 60HZ is terrible. For someone going from SD - HD its awesome. For anyone used to HD programing 60 hz is very very noticeable.

Whether or not this runs hot you cannot know unless you own it. If you want a thin bezel and light body you have to pay at least twice as much. Black Friday will not bring a better price. I am 90% sure of this. You may see awesome deals for more expensive TVs on Black Friday, but you will not see a 50 inch cheaper. PM me if you do. I'll go eat my hat.. or something...

But HD programming is at 60Hz by default! PM me if you see a 50 inch plasma for same price or less any time between now and Black Friday. I'd love to see one. $400 and $600 is a big difference. Also plasma suffers from burn-in if you keep the same image on for too long (as with consoles). LCD doesn't have that issue. Plasma does give better picture than LCD - everyone knows that, but 60Hz is not noticeably different from 120Hz. Because broadcasting is at 60Hz your 120Hz TV artificially adds extra frames to create a smoothing effect.

Currently I have a 60Hz and 120Hz TV, and I do not see any difference between the two when viewing HD. If anything, the 60Hz 46" Samsung looks better than 32" 120Hz Toshiba. And its not the size.

This would be a hot deal had it not for the coming BF around the corner. I own a 42" Scepter which I got for less than $280 last BF. The colors are a little saturated but good enough for everyday SD TV viewing. The backlighting has a lot to be desire of. Had this been an LED, I might jump on it.

Now, will that hat, or something, be au natural or cooked? Salt?

Only ask because WalMart has an Emerson 50" 1080p LED LCD TV for $288 on Black Friday. Looks like that price is a tad lower than your $400 50" TV, and should be fairly comparable as to picture, bezel, etc. (Page 15 of WalMart's BF circular, viewable online at WM's website, among other places.)

That did take a minute to find. Of course, you'll have to brave WM on Thursday night to get one......

I can EASILY tell the difference from 60hz to 120hz going from my off-brand Element 55inch TV to my LG 55 inch tv as well as quality. While this is not a bad deal I would definitely expect to see some other awsome prices in TV's coming up over the Holidays.

I'll see your Emerson at WalMart for $288, and raise you an Element 50" 1080p 60Hz LED HDTV (ELEFT502) at Target for $229 (page 1 of BF ad)
I say he puts ketchup on the hat and eats it.

This thread has obviously fallen off the rails, but to be fair, the OP's deal is something you can get RIGHT NOW without leaving your chair. As someone pointed out above, all of the BF deals require you to enter the 7th layer of hell (Walmart on BF).

And, fwiw, the price WAS in the OP originally, even if it wasn't in the headline. Just required reading the entire post.

There is also the Element 40" LED for $178. To me, that's a great deal if the quality of the TV isn't that bad. Not sure if it will be store only. If it is, then I may or may not get it.

(Sorry for not staying on topic).

That's the whole point! The Sceptre you can get online, in the comfort of your home and not get trampled in the process. Don't know about you, but I'd pay $100 for that. I'll eat my hat when you find me a TV for the same price I can order online. ; )

So are we going to see a pic of the OP eating hat or something?

Not yet. Besides, I put that "or something" in there for a reason. : P

Uh uh uh! I should have been more specific. Getting killed in the process of getting that TV isn't really a better deal. I guess I should have been more specific about finding a TV for less that you can order online or in the store with no danger of death by trampling.

We own a Sceptre 32" LCD (720p) which is about 6 years old, it's a no frills model and it's been relatively problem free. I just wish I didn't pay $599 for it, ouch that hurts when I think about it.

Speaking of BF, here are the televisions that I could find, not sure if all the BF ads have been released yet or not. The "cheapest" model that I would consider is Best Buy's LG 55" LED for $499 but it's an early bird.

Early bird should not count, trample etc BF door crusher is like stipulating rebate via lotto ticket, almost no chance you get it.

I should apologize to the OP and clarify a bit too... when I said "black friday deals", I didn't explicitly mean just the stupid doorbuster stand in line freezing your ass off for 12 hours camped out just to get a shiv in your back for one of the three TVs that they have in stock that four hundred people are waiting for deals. I meant the ~1 week prior to and ~3 weeks post black friday deals that are usually about 80% just as good as the black friday deals that you pretty much don't have to stand in any lines for, stores usually have plenty of stock on, and you don't have to worry about any sort of bodily penetration just to acquire.

I'm honestly hoping that we'll be seeing a Best Buy Insignia 46" or 50" LED for around the OP's TV's price in the coming weeks, as that would actually be a stellar deal on pretty much all fronts, and no stretch of the imagination. But yes, the OP does have a point. If you need something NOW, and don't want to deal with lines, rebates, gift cards or other oddities and can live with hot, heavy and big (even the big ones need lovin')... it's a fair deal.
