Note 2 - Alternative Stylus Pens

Hard to believe there's no popular thread online that is strictly about the Note 2 and what stylus pens do and don't work with it. There is a thread about the Note 1 but they are not interchangeable.

So, does anyone know what other stylus pens work with the Note 2? The regular S Pen is nice, but I'm looking for a pen that's thicker and more comfortable to hold.

Samsung sells one that fits your description and has an eraser on the end that is auto-detected.

The one Samsung sells doesn't say Note 2 on the box, just Note. AT&T has it in their stores, I've tried it and it does not work as well or as accurately as the bundled S Pen of the Note 2. Tried multiple just to be sure, all of them performed the same. As in, they are not as accurate or pressure sensitive.

That thread is for the original Note. Considering Samsung's own product does not work with the Note 2 as well as the Note 1, I'd rather find a thread about the Note 2.

The tech is different from the Note 1 to the Note 2. The Note 2 has much more pressure sensitivity, that's why not all stylus pens will work equally on both.

According to this thread on XDA, there is this Bamboo Stylus from Wacom that works very well on the Note 2. However, official reps from Wacom say it will not. Hmm, do I believe the XDA member or the Wacom rep...

Well, it says it is compatible with the Note 10.1, which uses the EXACT same stylus as the Note 2.

Anyone know if there's an alternative pen that fits the Note2 for storage, but has a rigid tip (like those of the old Palm Pilot)? The flimsy tip of the Note2 stylus is annoying. I'd rather give up the hovering ability (whatever Samsung calls it) for a more rigid tip.

Nothing else fits in the storage area. Not sure what you are considering "more rigid" than the hard plastic tip on the s-pen? There is nothing flimsy about it. It is a white hard plastic tip that has zero give. If you are talking about the slight amount of back pressure movement, that is for the 1024 levels of pressure sensitivity. All wacom enabled stylus will have that.

Yes, that's what I'm talking about (the part in boldface). The tip feels terrible compared to that of an actual pen, or the Palm Pilot stylus. I'd be happy to get rid of the pressure sensitivity for a totally rigid tip.

It actually feels like using a retractable pen to me, which I prefer over a stick style
