I skipped the note 3 so didn't notice
-
Yea I have my magazine screen disabled; but the point I was making is all the icons (dialer, and app) have a 'similar' flat design; I prefer the note 2's icons which are slightly more 3d (if that makes sense) - the edges are rounded and the colours are deeper.

I had a Note 2 back in the day as well - I'd say a lot of the outdoor visibility improvement happened with the Note 3. The Note 4 is better in this area than the Note 3, but the jump isn't as big as the N2 -> N3.

If you're referring to the My Magazine screen, you can disable it complete in Home Page Settings.

Ah I'm using the Lolipop icons in Nova Launcher so I forgot what the stock icons looks like.

I just wanted to post this screenshot to remind everyone of the uselessness of Sunspider benchmark when comparing different phones, let alone different platforms. Taken on a display model @Bestbuy.

Second Google result for me - appears to be the same N910T model. The hard part is finding it in stock:

http://www.bestbuy.com/site/t-mobile...&skuId=1015007

XDA thread:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/note-4-tmobile/general/t-mobile-note-4-700-best-buy-t2937987

Just want to say thanks! They finally got it in today and I ordered online. I actually was going to buy it in a Tmo store for their price, but they denied me financing and had to put in a ticket because I was obviously eligible. That forced me to wait and be able to catch this.

So I've learned that it is impossible to buy a non-carrier Note 4 in the U.S. at any cost. (if you want LTE, of course)

What is wrong with Samsung? I was planning to gift a brand-new boxed Note 4, preferably without bloatwares. Not possible. I am done searching. What a waste of time.

I'm losing patience with Verizon and the Note Edge. My GS4 is literally falling apart, I cannot make it much longer. I've already waited a month and a half but I'm going to just cave and get a Note 4 soon...

What about the Note 4 Dev edition for Verizon? It will work on any gsm & get LTE on Verizon & Tmobile.http://www.samsung.com/us/mobile/cell-phones/SM-N910VMKEVZW
Just get a plain back off the internets if you don't want the verizon logo.

So I finally got my wife a new phone via RMA. The second time was a charm, they replaced it with a new one. The new one worked great today so I think that is settled.

I found her a Super thin qi charging pad and a three coil stand that I just gave her. If it works good in a few days I will outright recommend it, as it let's you put on hard cases it's so thin.

Also it got pushed a few updates and things seemed smoother. This thing really is the best phone on the market right now. Glad I still got her a 64gb card on Cyber Monday.

Cool - I half expected them to just reflash the modem or something and send it back to you.

And yeah - being able to add 64GB of storage for $30 or less to go with the 32GB internal is great. I'm waiting for the 128GB cards to come down a bit.

I am waiting for the quality to go up. I don't like the speeds of the only option out there. It's not just Android though, the 128gb iPhone has crappier flash memory than other models. We just aren't there yet.

But her 128gb pen drive hooks up easy via OTG and opens directly into a file manager. Thing plays a Blu Ray rip with ease via VLC.

ROM I'm using right now (Dynamic Kat 3.0) added a Material-type theme. I kind of like it, though it needs some minor updates for some missed areas.

How do you do OCR with the note4; basically I want to take a picture of some text (serial number) and convert it to text...

Too late. The lucky person got a notebook instead. IIRC dev edition Note 4 comes with other limitations which are not desirable for lay persons.

That is great to hear. I agree that this phone is the best one in the market and from hardware standpoint it comes darn close to my ideal phone within today's technical boundary. I just wish the extraneous situations and the software were more consumer friendly. Carriers charging different $$$ does not help the matter, either. ($825 @AT&T )

Don't know about the Note 4 but there are a lot of apps that will do that.

Simple one: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.thesimplest.ocr
More featured one: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.intsig.camscanner

Do not forget about tax and other potential fees. (activation? smartphone access? protection? wtfbbq^#*_@%^!?) AT&T even charges for "detailed billing." (You have to pay to see your bills.. think about THAT)

Ouch, no way I pay that. Not when the T-Mobile version works fine and can be rooted.

Totally - if you don't have one already, I'd just keep on eye on the $699 T-mobile version at Best Buy and grab one when it's available. $25 to get it unlocked and you're done.

Hope it works well. The problem I've heard with the super thin coils is they generate heat, so it'd be nice to find one that doesn't bulge the back too much but also doesn't potentially damage anything. If I could fit the slim case I have around the Samsung qi battery cover I'd have the perfect setup.

How is the qi charger working?

So far so great! It being off center in the phone reduces that margin for error for throwing it on the dock, but it charges great and fit in any case. Much better than what I had for the S4.

The pad comes from here:

http://www.ebay.com/itm/121479153725

But might be cheaper on Amazon:

http://www.amazon.com/Bessky-TM-Wire...2W/ref=sr_1_37

And I am using it with a three coil dock like this:
