Note 4 vs. Nexus 6

A 1080p Nexus 6 would mean they actually made the device for the new version of Android, ala Nexus 5, rather than slap the Nexus name on an already being made motorola phablet like they did do.

A 1080p MADE FOR LOLLIPOP Nexus 6 would certainly have a LCD screen, as Material Design pushes hard away from the dark colors an OLED loves towards the whites that OLEDs can't do well. We have seen that for LCDs that are 1080p do use less power than those of higher resolutions because a less powerful backlight is needed.


If the Nexus 6 would have actually been planned for a while it would have looked like every other Nexus released recently, it would have come with a 1080p LCD screen, it would have had a 64 bit CPU to actually take advantage of the new 64 bit Android, and it would have been priced somewhere near other Nexus devices.

It we are all being honest with ourselves it is obvious that the Nexus 9 was the planned Nexus for the year, and the Nexus 6 is what happened when Android Silver fell apart. Heck, maybe the Nexus name was going to be a tablet thing going forward, who knows.

Fair points - I was thinking of a 1080p AMOLED but you're right in that ambient display is a Moto feature, not a Google/Nexus feature.

A high quality 1080p LCD screen in the Nexus 6 certainly would be an interesting device and probably cheaper.

I don't know about the 64-bit CPU unless they were willing to wait until next year. The only flagship level SOC I'm aware of that's 64-bit is the newest Samsung Exynos.
