Wow

I've changed my mind on led screens. Edit- meant super amoled. Ive always prefered LCDs like the One X

This thing pops and is so vibrant.

I know this thread has no real point other than observation.

but I've trashed Samsung phones in the past iver plastics and led screens. No more. The Note II is the best Android device period.

The Nexus 4 it replaced, good riddance.

Congrats on a new toy. I always play with one in awe whenever I go to a mall.

A question: Is it considered a tablet or a phone on Play store? For example, Adobe released Photoshop Touch for phones and tablets, respectively, and they don't allow you to install phone version on tablets or vice versa.

Curious how devs will deal with the emergence of phablets.

Yea and reception is decent as well as speakers (not just volume but also clarity).

One catch on development is if you want spen support. I'm personally running cleanrom which is basically samsung offering without the local carrier hacks.

It's treated as a phone. It's not big enough to be considered a tablet. I personally view the Nexus 7 as the minimum size for a tablet.

I've had my Note 2 for a couple of weeks and I am in love with this thing. The screen is stunning and the S pen is so useful. Congrats on your new device, hope you get real enjoyment from it!

Yeah, I love my Note 2, also. I was on the fence over the size, but after using it for a week straight while on vacation, I realized it was not too big. Now when I see other phones, including the GS3, which I had before the Note 2, I think they are tiny children's toys.

When I use my Nexus 7, the Note 2 looks like a tiny child's toy.

When I use my Nexus 10.. etc etc

What a dumb thing to say.

You've GOT to be kidding.

Not at all. It is a weird phenomenon. Once you get used to the size of each phone, your previous screen size seems so tiny.
Iphone 4s 3.8", droid charge 4.3", galaxy nexus 4.65", galaxy s3 4.8", note 2 5.5".
Surprisingly I felt the same going from the nexus to gs3. The nexus seemed alot smaller, which it wasn't.
Everyone says my note 2 is huge, but it feels normal sized now.

Yeah my droid was like, what, 3.7? Compared to a dumbphone that was enormous. On the other hand, it was 854x480 which at that size looks awesome.

I moved to the HD7 which is much larger but also lower res. It didnt look as nice.

So, in that sense, you can move up in size provided you dont lose resolution.

i felt 3.5 was small before i purchased a smartphone and i rahter have a 4.7ish screen than 5.5; but the note is so much better in every other way. I.e, i see my self going back to 4.7ish in a year or two. THe difference is that with a 4.7 phone I feel comfortable in one hand; with 5.5 the width really pushes it (height is not much of an issue here)

I have a Note 1 (wish I had a Note 2 lol) and I always tell people that. Everyone is skeptical but many people feel the same way after they give the Note a fair shake.

I really need to meet one of you guys here because every Note II I've seen has had awful screens. I was at BB on 23rd and 6th Avenue today and there was a Note II in Korean on display and the damn thing was so blue. But people here say the screen pops. My OLED screen pops so I know what y'all are talking about but I've never meet a Samsung screen that popped vibrant color. Even my cousin just got a GSII on T-Mobile and that thing is blue as hell. If anyone lives in New York please calibrate the BB Note IIs and GSIIIs because the screens are horrible...

You're like the only person in the whole world that thinks Samsung OLEDs are terrible screens.

Nope, that's a very common feeling among Note owners. It makes sense too, as everything but phone calls benefits from and takes advantage of increased screen size.

I'm not saying that in regards to every phone. Just the GS3. The GS3 is not a significantly smaller device than the Note II. Now, if he wanted to say "after using the note2, my old iPhone 5 felt like a kids toy", fine. I can see that. But the SGS3 isn't exactly a tiny device.

We get it, you hate Samsung screens... as if we haven't realized this by your 1,000 other I hate Samsung posts. Since you hate them sooooo much, you would think you could resist clicking on a post about Samsung by now?

I have one. Have used many different wallpapers. Am not seeing the blue tint. And yes my eyes are good. I got color tested about 30 times in the Navy. My job does not allow color blindness.

I doubt I'm the only one. I'm just amazed at what I read here. Their OLEDs are truly horrible but people here love them. I think it may have to do with the fact that Samsung OLEDs are all you guys are accustomed:biggrin:. Now I know how the French feel when they compare their eating habits to ours (Americans).

Hate? Nah, I like their screens on Apple's iPads. I just don't know what you guys see in their OLEDs. They are truly horrendous. Check out HTC's One S, which has AUO's OLEDs and let me know what you think. I have a One S and 2 other smartphones but I enjoy that one a lot. I don't admire Samsung as a company but I respect their hard work. I just don't have any respect for their OLED line so I am really perplexed by what others see in them. IMHO, there is nothing vibrant about them.

I like their other products. When I build my next supercomputer, I'll make sure to put their 512GB 840 SSDs in there, stripped:biggrin:. But I will never touch a Galaxy series phone until they fix the awful OLED screens. Like I said, someone should drop by BB on 23rd street and calibrate their screens so I can check it out. It's teh closest BB to where I live...

The only things imho that are benefits of the Note II are web browsing and watching videos. How is having to use 2 hands for everything else a benefit? Texting on a Note/Note II with 1 hand's impossible unless you're Shaq. I can do anything on my iPhone 1 handed while eating a burrito with the other. And when I feel like it I can use both hands.
