If you look at the revised chart, the story is basically that response times keep getting quicker among flagship devices... but only from Apple, Samsung, LG, and Sony.

Microsoft are doing well to.

But yeah, progress is as progress does.

And a round of applause and free beer for the OP for being a good guy.

Although I still think my titles were better.

My rooted LG G2x on 2.3.4 runs a constant 60 fps with an overclocked Tegra 2. Actually faster than my mom's Note 2 running 3.4. I do keep things kinda bare bones though, no automatic updates, email clients nor things of that nature.

As for touchscreen latency, I have no new devices on hand to test with, so I'm not yet spoiled.

Keeping things bare bone, clean, and organized is the key to smooth android and good battery life. Two thumbs up.

Overclocking your screen controller can also lower your touch sensitivity scores...

I remember reading a how-to article on PS/2 mouse overclocking by hacking Windows registry.. like a decade ago. It made you shoot faster in Quake 3 or something. It was a very intriguing read although I forgot everything about it.

You guys are cracking me up.

However, everytime people bring up GPU, I call BS. Windows Phones were responsive and fluid with 1ghz cores and Adreno 205 GPUs. You do not need some state of the art GPU to make the UI smooth. Hell the iPhone 4 and its weakass GPU achieved 60 fps smoothness long time ago. It's only recent OSes that have become more bloated show the age of that phone.

Well, I guess it's a free country and you are ALLOWED to call BS; however, you would be wrong.

The issue with Android is that prior to 4.0 (ICS), the entire UI was non-hardware accelerated; meaning that the only job the GPU was doing was actually outputting the frames. With ICS, hardware acceleration was actually implemented into the UI and not just within applications.

IIRC, Jelly Bean and "Project Butter" added support for triple buffering and for vsync to lock the framerate.

Android prior to ICS was using the CPU for rendering. Both iOS and Windows Phone have been hardware accelerated all along.

For what it's worth, I do not notice any difference on my Note 3 with increased touch sensitivity off (default) or on. I also did not notice any difference compared to the HTC One, or my wife's iPhone 5.
