notebook cooler for 17"?

Has anyone heard of a notebook cooler like Antec Notebook Cooler, but for the bigger laptops like my 17" toshiba p25? Thanx in advance

A couple of people I've talked to say that those things don't work much better than if you lift the notebook 1" off of the desk surface with something. Basically, if you have good amount of space between the notebok and the desk, it will cool a lil bit better. Otherwise, those "notebook coolers" are just an extra source of noise.

Thanx, I didnt even think about the noise factor that it will add. I dont think I will be getting one of those now.

I have a podium coolpad for my laptop... It's adjustable so that you can kick the back end of the laptop higher off the desk/surface if you wish. I usually just have the least amount of risers under the back half, simply because it keeps it the flattest, which is what I'm used to when typing. With the extra air flow under the laptop, it keeps it much cooler. If you're concerned, during the summer heat, just get a room fan to blow towards your system to keep more air moving. Since you'd probably have that going already it won't be a source of extra noise.

Yeahh, I have a small desk fan on only when I play video games or burn a DVD. Where did u get that podium coolpad?

Got the coolpad with my laptop... Most stores (in my area at least) have them someplace in the store. Especially if they sell laptops. This time of year, I don't need any extra cooling on my laptop, which is nice. During the middle of summer, if I don't have the AC running, I need the extra cooling on the laptop. Of course, during that time of year I don't run my tower unless I need to and then I shut it off as soon as I'm done.

I think, for online ordering, most of the large vendors will carry the item... Compusa has it listed on their web site, check to see if the one closest to you has it in stock. Otherwise, try places like pc connection and other online sources. I'm sure you'll be able to find one easily enough, and probably cheaper than [in]compusa sells it for ($30)...

I have a 17" notebook (gateway M675) and I'm looking for a serious hardcore cooling solution. My notebook gets hot enough to burn bare skin after a few hours of heavy use. I need to run my notebook 24/7 but have to set it to auto-standby right now to prevent overheating. For the life of me, I cannot find a super powerful cooling solution for a 17" notebook. Most are all for 15" notebooks or smaller and advertise "quiet" and "efficient" function.... I'm looking for something POWERFUL. I don't care how loud it is or how much it costs. Any help/info on this would be greatly appreciated. I have a feeling this is going to end up being a build-it-yourself project...unfortunately.

Well, I found out the reason why my notebook was heating up so bad. The mobo went out on me. I took it to best buy after the monitor wouldnt work anymore and they replaced three things on it. The LCD, the mobo, and an inverter. Now, it doesnt even get nearly as hot as it used to. Its almost better than brand new now If it starts to shut down when your doing things then u might wanna bring it in to have it looked at. It will continue to get worse and worse.
