Notebook

Hi,
One of my friends is interested in getting a Notebook. What is the best that is available presently keeping the given config in mind

PIII 800
256MB RAM
20GB
DVD/CDRW
56K + Ethernet
15" Display

I was going thro Compaq presario 1700T and 1800T.
Well 1700T has everything i need but has a 14.1" Screen and Type II PC CARD

As for 1800T the RAM is upgradable to only 320MB.

I was also looking thro Dell, but they seem to be all costly and havent heard good lately after they brought down Inspiron 5000 series.

So if someone has a better view on this please help me out. Price my friend is looking to invest around $2500. So Please let me know.

Well, I like my new Dell Inspiron 8000. Though I have a feeling I would like any laptop with a GeForce 2 GO.

BTW, if you want a Dell Inspiron 5000 check out Power Notebooks they have the same exact laptop.

me dad just bought a new dell inspiron 2100 and he likes it alot...it real small its only drawbacks are a small screen and dvd is external..

I say he definitely look at Dell. Just wait for one of those promotions which they seem to be running quite often and you can probably pick a laptop of that caliber (800MHz, etc) for about $2000-2400
