Here goes... Some of you are going think that I am nuts but I'm going to ask someone out there anyway.

I live in TO here in Ontario. I have an A7Pro mobo here with a bad BIOS chip in it. Here's my problem. Asus will not give me a new BIOS chip for it since it was their flash program that screwed it up without me havin got pay for it since I live here in Canada. I'm in need of someone that lives in the U.S. to get that chip sent to me for nothing. I don't want to have to pay for something that I shouldn't have to pay for. This is just ridiculous. If anyone has any suggestions for me, I would be thankful for any feedback.

If you live in TO go down to china town. Within 2 blocks west and south of Spadina and College there are about 50 computer shops and they all stock alot of ASUS products. Bring your board down and they should be able to help you. Maybe it will cost $10 or $20 or something.

Btw, your post makes little sense. Why the hell wouldn't ASUS support a board in Canada?? They sell tons of stuff here.

It's not that they don't support it. If I lived in the States, they would send me the chip for nothing. But, because I live in Canada, I have to pay for it to be shipped to me and I have to pay for the duty on it when it comes across the border. I don't know about you, but I really don't think that it's fair that I should have to pay for everything when someone that lives in the U.S. doesn't have to pay anything for it....

I know that area that you are talking about anyhow, I go down to Factory Direct down there once in a while just to see what's hangin' around in there. Anyhow, I still don't think that it's right that I should have to pay for something to get it working when the board is still under warrany!

Sorry to sound like a dick, but one of the things that can possibly happen when you flash the bios is it can mess it up. You are told that at least 2-3 times in the readme for the flash process. So by running that program you are agreeing to the possibility of that happening. Since you are ordering stuff from the US, and you live in canada, you have to follow the rules, and pay the import and duty taxes.

Next time think long and hard about flashing your bios. Were you having a problem, that you needed to? Or did you just download the latest and greatest?

I needed to since there were some lock ups that were going on in the BIOS setup screen. I know all about the do at your own risk stuff. It was recommended by them that I do it. That's what makes me so mad about it!
