It would have been interesting to see if google could give correct answers to some of the jeopardy questions. I tried the final jeopardy question but all the results are about the show
If the producers and IBM decide to do this again they should let viewers make suggestions for categories. During one of the segments explaining Watson's programming they said that music can be broken down into fundamental parts but it can't be heard in an "emotional" way. I'd like to see a category of instrumental songs where they play only a brief excerpt and you must identify the song being played. Watson would run out of time trying to analyze the details.

There is already software that identifies songs from short recordings called Shazam. The iPhone App sends clips over the cloud to be identified and works amazingly well. Still, IBM would probably have to work on the identification speed of to get it down to a human's speed.

stop calling it the cloud, it's the internet
**Warning, spoiler for today's episode

how the hell is dairy country getting the show faster than eastern standard time places? What a messed up schedule.
Trebek was on Regis and Kelly. He said that Watson rings in four milliseconds after it is allowed, unless he hasn't processed the question completely yet. Four milliseconds is an incredibly small window, so basically Ken and Brad only get in when Watson can't figure out the question fast enough or correctly.

The brain can't even react that fast. The time it takes to tell your finger to push the button is longer than that.
Watson would be perfect for either Wheel of Fortune or Cash Cab (or Cash Truck?) :awe:
wheel of fortune is outrageously easy IMO for a computer... cash cab would just be like googling for the answer...
Watson is somewhat amazing. On one hand its not hard to understand that ten different servers in parallel, can hold almost all human knowledge inside of Watson.
But when Watson is maybe beating humans because it can beat the speed humans can buzz in, then it begs fair testing of that is it buzz in speed only.
