Went and saw the new Oz movie tonight, and it wasn't too bad. I thought it could have been a bit shorter without really sacrificing anything, and I thought the movie could have had a bit more foreshadowing with Theodora. Oh, and more shots of Glenda. As for what to give it? Mmm maybe a 7/10?

Sex Drive. 7/10. I gave it an extra point because of Amanda Crew and her laugh in the movie, seems a bit on the geeky side as far as the laugh goes.

Oh and Seth Green as a sarcasm loving Amish person was a pretty funny cameo.

That was one of my favorite movies the year it came out. I hadn't seen a decent teen sex comedy since the first (and only good) American Pie movie, but Sex Drive hit all the right notes. It was a bit flat in some parts, but it made up for it. Seth Green was definitely a great addition to the movie.

I think the only decent comedy in the same vein that I've seen since then would be... Take Me Home Tonight.

Yeah that was the best episode of snl I've seen in a long time.

I didn't think anyone even watched SNL anymore. But with this sort of praise, I'll have to go find this episode to check it out.

Its one of those shows where at a minimum I need to wait for a complete blu ray season to be released. Watching an episode and waiting a week would drive me crazy.

I do wish they'd get to those damn White Walkers already!

Can't wait for the new season. It's tought to wait a week, but so worth it. Someone kill a Lanister

30 for 30: You Don't Know Bo

10/10 - I love these 30 for 30s. Watched about 20 minutes of this one and it is well produced. I was a kid when he was a big deal. I understood he was a good athlete. BUt people in this documentary are saying he is one of the best athletes if not the best athlete ever. For example, I guess you could tell him a nuance about a baseball technique that many pros take a year to learn and he'd have perfected it in two days. Can't wait to finish it later tonight.

Saw 2 movies this weekend.

Dead Men Down -7.5/10. Typical dude gets revenge on bad guys that harmed his family but with a little twist. Had potential but was just meh, especially the ending was sucky.

21 and over - 5/10. How could this movie get the greenlight? It tried to be a buddies movie and funny but not at all, too "forced" IMO. Too much male nudity but the two topless scenes saved the movie.

sherlock holmes game of shadows - 2/5 - just not a big fan of these movies. i just don't like the setting and time period in general either, but my wife wanted to watch it. i'd skip it if i haven't seen it.

puss in boots - 4/5 - i'm a sucker for cgi movies and im a sucker for cats, and also a fan of the character from shrek. just enjoyed it and thought it was a fun movie.

wreck it ralph - 5/5 - really liked it and the story as well. LOVED all of the video game references.

hunger games - 4/5 - had never seen this until now and i enjoyed it a lot. it was different than i thought it would be. i probably would have given it a 5/5 if the end was a bit different.

We've only completed 7 episodes.

He didn't ruin anything. That last sentence was a request, not a statement.

Even worse then.

Uhh, it's a "request" that gives away that it hasn't happened yet in the first two seasons so I can stop sitting on the edge of my seat wondering what's going to happen to
The Imp
or any of the others. I don't know how I could have been any clearer when I said it ruined the suspense of that happening. If you don't see how that's a spoiler for an ongoing series, then do the world a favor and don't post anything in this thread!

I'm going to spell it out for you because that's how I hope to keep from going back and forth over this:
If I read this before episode 6 at the
trial of The Imp, I'd already know that he isn't going to "fly" from the Eyrie.
I would not have been in any suspense that it might happen what-so-ever. If I knew it before Stark
fought The Queen's brother outside the brothel, I would have immediately known that the battle probably ended with Stark losing.
Get it?! THAT'S how it's a spoiler. Sheesh.

The point of posting opinions here is that they benefit those who haven't seen it yet, so no post belongs here that will spoil the topics at hand. You can take appropriate measures to discuss and counter the opinions of others, but use spoiler tags for God's sake. The person he was responding to was specifically doing the exact same as me: waiting for blu-ray box sets to be released before watching a season. Season 2 is a brand new release and as a direct result a lot of people were just starting Season 1 and/or 2.

I'm not saying that it's going to be a chore to watch them and set up for a suspenseful 3rd season, but I am saying that those unopened discs next to me are something tangible that cost money and I just watched a good portion of the included entertainment value evaporate. Also, if someone says something similar before the season 3 box set is released (I don't have HBO), what then? Continue this cycle of reduced entertainment value and wasted money? FFS, don't recommend that I watch something, let me get financially invested in it, and then act like this is purely a discussion for those who have already seen it!

I hope this doesn't ruin anything for you, but the entire Game of Thrones saga is the figment of an autistic kid's imagination. Winterfell is really just a snowglobe.

The Living Daylights - 8/10: A friend loaned me this Blu-ray with the proclamation: "Dalton is my favourite Bond"! I said he was nuts, but of course never having seen the Dalton Bond films, I was not really able to argue with any sort of conviction.

So I sat down to watch this yesterday with that claim in my head and damned if I didn't love the movie and Dalton in-particular as the gun-toting martini drinker.

As someone who grew up with the Moore Bond films, and liked them, I enjoy a nice bleu cheese stuffed olive in my Bond martini and this had just enough of the cheese blended with the fun and excitement that are part of the Bond franchise I know and love. Dalton played into it perfectly; actually bringing some personality to the role, unlike some of the other Bonds, yet maintaining the cool charisma that is a staple of the character. Maryam d'Abo was actually quite enjoyable as the Bond girl and was helped by looking strikingly like a former crush of mine Olivia (ahh the Wonder Years days), even though they are barely related. John Rhys-Davies makes everything better, so having him show up periodically was a great treat. The villains? Fun and over the top, like they should be.

Yeah, it was a bit long and lost me for a few minutes when they hit Afghanistan, but this had everything I want in a Bond film and while I'm no aficionado, or even one of the biggest fans of the series, it has vaulted near the top of my favourite Bond films.

Now to see Licence to Kill!

I tried it couple nights ago couldn't get past the first 20 minutes. I bought Seven, have watched it once, and TBH I found it chilling.

That may be the first time I've ever heard someone say that about The Game. Most complaints come from stuff later in the film and how it gets to be a be bit much. Oh well, to each their own.

Sex Drive. 7/10. I gave it an extra point because of Amanda Crew and her laugh in the movie, seems a bit on the geeky side as far as the laugh goes.

Surprisingly funny. I liked it too.

Saturday Night Live w/ Justin Timberlake (3/9/13): 10/10

JT is amazing. I'm jealous.

Good show. Loved seeing all of the other five-timers.

Have you seen 3? IMO
It's the weakest of the bunch. Doesn't have the character of the first two. Neither does Salvation, but I thought it worked as standalone story in the Terminator universe
.

I didn't mind 3. Liked it way more than 4 and even slightly more than 2, but I know I am alone there. 4 was the worst; so damn boring. At least the third one was kind of ridiculous and fun.

Prometheus - 8/10 - My kind of movie. Visually stunning to me. Couple plot issues for me, may just be my lack of understanding... Probably was all hashed out in earlier discussions, but I had avoided them until now.
1)
Why did the bad robot poison the guy?
2)
I don't really understand what the black liquid was supposed to be. In in the intro it showed it disintigrating the guys DNA, but in the movie it poisoned the guy, then impregnated the girl with a facehugger (and didnt make her sick)?
3)
The bad robot knew she was impregnated with an alien lifeform, and refused to grant abortion, yet didnt do anything to stop her from doing it on her own? Did not seem interested in her after that point in general, but initially seemed very keen on her carrying the fetus...
4)
How could the two members of the initial party get lost? The group was being monitored by the ship, who also had a map of the structure.
5)
How did the geologist come back to life?
6)
Its not clear to me if the aliens were the weapon, or if the black juice was the weapon and the aliens crashed the party.

I thoroughly enjoyed # 3 (don't watch the TV-edited versions). Salvation is intolerably bad.

Your questions are some of the many reasons people didn't like this movie. I'll try to answer as best I know the answers:

1.
David was tasked with finding a way to prolong Weylands life. As an experiment, since he didn't know what the black goo did, he put it in the scientist. The scientist said he was willing to do anything....

2.
It was kind of like a building block of life. It could also destroy life because what it seemed to do was break things down to their basics, then rebuild them at random. No one truly knows...but this was my take on it.

3.
I understood why he wouldn't abort her (played back to Alien, it was part of scientific curiosity). After she aborted, it was indeed confusing, however by then, they had found the live Engineer, and their priorities changed to that. His orders were explicity given by Weyland and everything he did was motivated by that (we just don't see them given on screen). The only thing he and Weyland cared about was speaking to the Engineer at that point.

4.
Huge plot hole. The "idea" was they were stoned and being stupid..but yea..I think most people agree...this part to push the story forward was dumb

5.
He fell in the goo. It rebuilt him...not sure into what...but that's what it did.

6.
The black goo seemed to serve 2 purposes, destroy and rebuild, however they never really elaborate on it. The thought (from the dead corpses with holes in their chest) is that the aliens were a spawn of experimentation the Engineers had been doing with the goo. We really do not know if the Aliens were the intended outcome or an accident.

Hey let me get an abortion and get my belly stitched up. I don't even think they stitched up my actual womb and the insides, but who cares.

I'll be running around in full strength capacity in minutes!
