The Three Stooges (2001 I think) - 6/10 - It was a slow and boring movie at the start (2/10) but act 2 was a 10/10. It was interesting to learn the history of the 3 stooges. There were alot of things that I didn't know about. For example,

Anyway, I think anyone that had a love for the three stooges would like this movie. If you don't know who they were you might not like it as the style of comedy is not for everyone. It's more about the time period. FWIW: I used to watch reruns as a kid in the early 80s.

a place beyond the pines (2013) 7.5/10

Pretty good, has it's flaws, in particular a very egregious deus ex machina. Good casting, good acting, some surprises, didn't know where it was going, didn't try to guess. Don't think it had one humorous moment, it's a dour drama. Worth a watch.

Gravity (2D): 8.5/10

Despite Murphy's Law being in full force with some artistic license, the environment was excellent. Loved the soundtrack. Great movie. For a space epic this surpasses 2001 in my book (there, I said it). I could easily see myself giving this at least a 9 in 3D and regret not getting a chance to see it in IMAX...but my next TV purchase will be 3D.

What the hell? This is really good. They showed it on TV, thought I'd give it a shot since you can't go wrong with $200 million movies. It's very entertaining, fairly good pacing, lot of CGI, and fun. I remember the TV ad placements and didn't know what the hell was going on. Too bad a lot of people thought the same for it to flop in theatres.

That's just it: he walked off the set and refused to do it. It was going to be another bad movie in a string of bad SNL movies (Superstar, Night at the Roxbury, The Ladies Man, etc) and he knew it. To make up for contractual obligations, he made TCitH instead.

you're next - bad/10 - what a terrible movie. i can't believe people said this movie was any good. the acting is flat out awful, and the story is just retarded. it really makes no sense and people do irrational things the entire movie. it reminded me of how stupid people acted in the purge, basically the same stupidity is in this movie. and the name "you're next" makes absolutely no sense at all either, especially the way that for some random reason, the killers spell it out in blood a couple times in the movie.

anyone who didn't see the "twist" coming must not watch many movies. i don't even think i'd call it a "twist" either. stay away from this awful flick.

Yup. Just finished watching this an hour or so ago, after wanting to watch it for a while, and I was very disappointed. I had heard/read good things about it. I'd give it maybe a 4/10

The last question sort of sums it up. The script was a little awkward as it just felt very jumbled and the characters weren't terribly endearing. Although, Leonidas was pretty much the only good character in the original, so that's not surprising. There was a rather interesting orchestrated version of Black Sabbath's War Pigs during the ending stylized credits, which even though I'm not a big Black Sabbath fan, I'm tempted to pick it up. The rest of the soundtrack is rather fierce too!

I think it's pretty hard to beat the original 300. I enjoyed it for what I knew it would be..

Was not expecting that at all. Apparently she's done a bunch of nude/sex scenes in her career. Pretty nice set of all natural titties.

Seems like Pixar is going downhill. Cars 1 was great. Cars 2 was meh. Planes lacks the charm, humor, flow and story of either of the cars movies. Don't get me wrong. I don't expect much from kids movies. But for a long time Pixar seemed to always be able to bridge the kid/adult gap. No longer, it seems. Anyway, Planes was a major disappointment.

I couldn't even watch Cars. I don't understand this theme at all. It's boring and I fall asleep. It must be profitable though for them.

Planes wasn't a Pixar movie. It was a Disney production that had nothing to with Pixar studios and it's normal attention to quality.

As for cars, sometimes you need a few cash grabs to pay for the Wall-E's and UP's that they have made. Wall-E and Up are far more "adult" movies than they are easily digested and understood by kids.

planes was a pretty weak movie.

hunger games catching fire - 8/10 - very entertaining movie. i thought the new arena was pretty neat. the movie did not feel like it was 2 hours and 15 minutes long either, it flew by to me. i did have one kind of gripe about it though, but i just kinda chalked it up to being a movie in general and kind of had my own logical explanation for it and i didn't let it bother me. the very very end of it also had a very "matrix 2" feeling to it.

at the end when the arrow that had the lightning charge hit the top of the dome and blew it all up, wasn't the lightning coming out of the dome as well? so it can come out of it but once it gets the charge back at it, the whole thing blows up? was just kind of silly to me but i just chalked it up to being maybe the lightning generated inside of the dome and not from the edge of the dome, even though it appeared to be generated from there since that is where the sky appeared to be. but with all of the other possible things in the dome that could happen, i just accepted it.

You could over analyze that scene but I think you should just chalk it up to suspension of disbelief.
