Mad Max. Saw it at the drive-in with my wife. 5.5/10.

Just not that interesting. Turns out that driving in a STRAIGHT LINE FOR TWO HOURS is only marginally more interesting when there are constant extremely repetitive fight scenes that are obviously sped up movements. Story was hella crazy weak. Very unimaginative or creative. Script was near non-existent but what was there was decent enough.

That being said, costume and set design were outstanding. Really some amazing work done there.

Is was Mad Max, what did you expect? It is a show about a world where gasoline is nearly non-existent but everyone still seems to drive around at top speed in monster trucks.

Still a great movie. I give it 8.75/10

Tomorrowland - 7/10

I thought it was a good movie overall. Cool scenes, really good acting by the 2 main kid actors.

Ending was super weak though, which is what the majority of critics pounded it for. I'm not as tough as them though, I still think it's worth seeing. The message behind the movie is what's really important I think.

I don't think the collapse has gotten rid of all gas yet. This happens between Mad Max and The Road Warrior, and even then, there were refineries with hoards of gas. They also have a "bullet farm", which is likely just a community built around a bullet factory.

Some of the best parts of this movie were his Ford Falcon and him trying to use a sawed off shotgun. =)

i dont want to diss your rating, i'm just thinking though that it would be a good idea to standardize ratings.

for example .. just a thought. first draft, mmk?

10 - revolutionary.
movies which change your perspective of life, and of filmmaking. they have a profound effect on both the viewer's personality, and on society as a whole.

9 - exceptional.
a really well done film that does perfectly what an entertainment product should, yet falls short of delivering that extra which stays with you forever.

8 - excellent.
a complete and well done product. you will remember it fondly for a long time but it will not have a significant impact.

7 - good.
just a good film. nothing spectacular, but an evening well spent.

6 - decent.
no real sense of satisfaction, but all in all not a wasted evening.

5 - bad.
too many faults, sense of wasted time and money, a bad choice.

4 - really bad.
somebody needs to get fired for having ok' this piece of crap.

3 - horrible.
makes you angry that this shit exists, and your life is worse for having watched it.

2 - FUCK YOU.
hurts you while you watch it, and after you have watched it, and hurts others around you.

1 - star wars prequels.
has a significant negative impact on society. new filmmaking measures will be put in place to make sure nothing like this happens again.

Big Time in Hollywood, FL (TV) - 8/10 New show on Comedy Central. Unexpectedly hilarious. Has a continuous story through the season. Lots of cameos and Cuba Gooding Jr. (playing himself) is awesome in it. You can stream the entire season from the Comedy Central page.

Ex Machina -- 6.5/10 -- The other 3 people I went with were stunned at my tepid enthusiasm for this flick.

Inherent Vice -- 5/10 -- Probably even more than Ex Machina, my opinion of this movie suffered in relation to my expectations. I saw this a while ago, and was too disappointed to post about it. This is one movie I will watch again at some point, hoping for a better subjective experience.

Inside Amy Schumer -- 8.5/10 -- The third season of her TV show has been consistently good. Also, it seems like entire episodes plus discrete skits are on youtube.

Think you don't like her comedy because reasons? Check out these examples:

The Universe Bill Nye explains, "Scientists once believed the universe was a chaotic collection of matter. We now know the universe is essentially a force sending cosmic guidance to white women in their twenties."

Girl You Don't Need Makeup A boy band explains.

Football Town Nights "Can we rape at away games?"

Last Fuckable Day -- with Tina Fey & Julia Louie Dreyfus. "Are you that girl from the television who talks about her pussy all the time?"

Amy Schumer Doll "What's in your purse, Amy?" "Birth control, lexipro, dusty candy corn, and a business card from a tech guy who 'gave her a vibe."

I don't want to diss your standardized ratings, except to say that your asbergers-based attempt to bring objectivity to subjective appreciation is doomed to failure. I give it a 4.32/9 That's right, out of 9.

Dawg Fight (Netflix) 4/10 - From the makers of Cocaine Cowboys they explore back yard fighting in Miami and follow a group of fighters some of which make it to minor league MMA matches.

Really lacked anything that I would consider to make it a "documentary". It really was just "Hey look at these guys beat each other's face in a yard". Wasn't impressed. I really want to give it a 2 but while this movie bad, there are far far worse.

Only got a half an hour in and decided there was nothing redeeming about it - and I like both MMA and documentaries lol.....

I tried loving Ex machina myself, I actually did, but I think a 6.5/10 about as high as I'd go also.

I saw most of the twists coming, and nothing really seemed groundbreaking to me.

I still save a 10 for something I've never seen yet myself.

Interstellar 6/10 - I really don't get it I guess. Some good overall acting and such, cool story, but basically "fuck science" and all.

Kurt Cobain: Montage of Heck 6/10 - I really wanted to like this. I'm a 90s teen and a musician of that same era and style, but it was just too artsy for me. Lots of reading various notebook snippets and artistic drawings. It had some parts that were seriously annoying at best.

Not surprised Dave Grohl didn't interview. Kinda rushed through the music focusing more on Kurt himself, fair enough it is a documentary about him. But nothing *new* really.

12 Years a Slave - 6/10: It did manage to keep my attention, but I thought it was overrated. I would have liked to see more development of the main character, pre-slavery, and would have left out the "flashbacks to family life." I just didn't care that much about him and the time jumps were more of a distraction from the part of the movie I wanted to watch at that point. The lady that
kept crying non-stop when her kids were sold off
seemed pretty forced in there. Also, I thought the Brad Pitt cameo was miscast.

I enjoyed it, but I'd say a 6 also.

Were a few unusual things in there that probably weren't common knowledge.

Yeah, Dave is enjoying his success much more independently from a project like that these days.

Huh. I thought it was fantastic. I'd probably give it an 8/10. I'm a big fan of Cobain, have been since junior high, so maybe I'm a bit biased. I thought it gave an insightful and more human look into him as a person, instead of some rock god. I'm not sure what he'd think of this could he see it, but I liked it a lot.

I didn't think the movie was all that great but it's known for having good science. A theoretical physicist helped with the science in the movie.

Hrm. Maybe I guess. I always just figured the
gravity of being pulled into a black hole was enough to crush pretty much everything
. I could be wrong though, not like I do that for a living.

And leaving a planet with 1.3 Earth gravity will take more energy than leaving Earth, yet they just hop in their car-like ship and go without any of the theatrics they had blasting off from Earth on those huge rockets that look like Saturn V. Let's not forget that they are also fighting gravity from the black hole as they fight their way away from its time dilation.

The "science" parts Kip Thorne advised on were almost entirely in the way a black hole bend light and the way a super-massive spinning black hole can dilate time on a planet that isn't being pulled in.

Floating solid clouds and love being a universal constant that transcends time and space are just fantasy. I thought we all knew that.

New Mad Max Film... 7/10. Nothing special.. best action film of the last 20 years? I'm not seeing it. I'm not a real action buff though I tend to rate films based on how much they 'move' me...

On another note I find it funny how offended people get on imdb if you diss their movies. Relax... music, movies, and food are all personal taste and you are not nearly as important as you think you are, nor are your personal tastes. I don't care if people crap on movies I like. Get over it.

mad max: fury road 8/10

I liked the campiness of it.

the cyborg in charge of the gang.
the accountant reciting the mounting losses as the chase goes on.
the war drum truck, complete w/guitarist playing on a flame thrower guitar.
and the one armed chick. (that's cgi, right?)

would liked to have seen more of the swamp and the people on stilts. everyone reacted negatively when they entered that area.
wanted to see why exactly.

why does the girl's name (Furiosa) remind me of Vin Diesal?
