I don't want to diss your standardized ratings, except to say that your asbergers-based attempt to bring objectivity to subjective appreciation is doomed to failure. I give it a 4.32/9 That's right, out of 9.

well, 4.32 out of 9 is not bad for a first draft.

Highlander / uncut version (EU) http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0091203/alternateversions
great film. had not watched this in a long time, and now i noticed how many great shots are in this film. Lambert's acting is horrible, but somehow he manages to make up for it with perfect screen presence. Skinny french guy just fits the image of an immortal scot. Weird.
(i mean, Sean Connery somehow makes you buy the idea that he's an egyptian from spain, scottish accent n'all.)

8/10

Abraham Lincoln, Vampire Hunter http://www.imdb.com/title/tt1611224/reference
really surprised at this film. It's not camp as i thought, it's not a comedy as i thought. Really nice action, good acting, great costumes, decent story. Imho they should have omitted the abraham lincoln tie and made it into a simple vampire film, would have done much better at the box office.

Yeah I watched mad max again, 3D IMAX this time. 8.5/10, so good for what it is. Srsly those stunts. Those cars. That guitar player.

Also 8/10 for Birdman. Spectacular editing/camera work and killer acting by Norton/Keaton/Stone, monologue city. Would rate higher but really did not enjoy the last scene in the movie.

Life After Beth - 9/10: Aubrey Plaza dies, but then is not dead. I love Aubrey Plaza and I kind of loved this movie. Laughed a lot and enjoyed some of the cool gore too. I mean it's dumb and silly, but that's why it's so awesome.

Housebound - 6/10: New Zealand horror flick about a girl who is sent home for house arrest and the house is....haunted!! I kind of enjoyed the setup and it is quite funny at the beginning, but the latter half of the film was just kind of dumb and every single trope found in previous movies is just trotted out here and not all that interestingly.

Mad Max: Fury Road - 9/10: That was the quickest two hours I've spent in a theatre in a very long time. Love how it just throws you in and does not spend a tonne of time on exposition explaining all of the different things going on. The action was awesome and good lord did the movie look fucking incredible. Just beautifully shot. Great fun at the theatre.

Inherent Vice -- 5/10 -- Probably even more than Ex Machina, my opinion of this movie suffered in relation to my expectations. I saw this a while ago, and was too disappointed to post about it. This is one movie I will watch again at some point, hoping for a better subjective experience.

That's a shame. I was actually just watching Youtube clips of Inherent Vice so I could relive it. I freaking loved the movie and can't wait to watch the whole thing again on baby blu.

I'm not sure, but I think my (perhaps unreasonable) expectations got in the way, which is why I said this is one movie I actively want to re-visit.

The Homesman - 9/10:

Excellent flick but not for the faint of heart. Good look at the harsh life of pioneers and a surprising plot twist in the middle.

mad max: fury road 8/10

I liked the campiness of it.

the cyborg in charge of the gang.
the accountant reciting the mounting losses as the chase goes on.
the war drum truck, complete w/guitarist playing on a flame thrower guitar.
and the one armed chick. (that's cgi, right?)

would liked to have seen more of the swamp and the people on stilts. everyone reacted negatively when they entered that area.
wanted to see why exactly.

why does the girl's name (Furiosa) remind me of Vin Diesal?

Id hope so, or Charlize Theron had a really bad accident recently that reports paid no mind to

Ever seen Craig Ferguson's impression of Sean Connery in Highlander? Pretty good stuff. EDIT: actually this is just the beginning and doesn't hit the actual part about Highlander...I'll see if I can find it.

It definitely is. I saw some video that included a few behind the scene shots, and she had a green sleeve that covered the fleshy parts of her arm. It looked like a good bit of the prosthetic were real though.

Just got back from seeing San Andreas. I'll give it 8/10.

Yeah that's a pretty high score for it but I thoroughly enjoyed the movie. It did not seem like two hours sitting there, at all. Dwayne Johnson is a badass and great leading man, I think it's nearly impossible not to root for the dude.

The special effects were pretty incredible actually. Story wasn't that bad. And ho-lee-man. God was certainly on his A-game when he made Dwayne's daughter (Alexandra Daddario). Mother of God how can she be so gorgeous?

The movie reminds me of 2012, another disaster movie, and I thought this one was wayyy better.

Just got back too and I completely agree. I liked it much better than 2012 or Day After Tomorrow since it feels like something that could completely happen here. The movie was jam packed. I don't know if everyone watched it here because it's a California thing but apparently it was sold out all weekend.

the movie overperformed in SF/LA. Guess we like seeing ourselves get wasted.

Nineteen of the 20 top-grossing theaters were in the Bay Area and greater Los Angeles area, an unheard of statistic. (San Francisco and L.A. are at the epicenter of the action in the movie.) The lone exception was New York City's E-Walk theater in Times Square.

That's surprising, the trailer was fucking awful. I liked 2012 though, so maybe I'll see this.

LOL. I will have to check that out.

huh? she looks like that Twilight chick?
Eh, I don't think she looks like Kristen Stewart that much. Maybe a bit. While I think Stewart is pretty hot, Alexandra is about 1000x more beautiful.

Yeah I think if you liked 2012 you'll like San Andreas even more. Check it out!

hey, don't go bad mouthing Dark Crystal.

anyway, funny story.

went with 2 girls to the local theater, i wanted to see San Andreas because THEROCK!
wound up seeing mad max, because they bought the hype.

i loved it. they hated it and walked out. PROFIT!

gotta say, i thought it was going to be bad, but i was proven wrong. the writing is really good, the little bits that the war boys say like "i live i die, i live again", makes sense in a futuristic society trying to adapt. the mental distortions they exibit really drive it home. i didnt think hollywood was capable of writing this kind of stuff.

they did change the character of max, though. to me, he's just a guy called max, not THE mad max.

anyway. good film. new and exciting. 8/10.
