Man, Jurassic World looks like shit to me. I have zero interest in seeing that one.

Shame, that, because the original was a great idea really well done.

But dinos!
I have to see it because dinos alone. Trailers really don't seem promising, at all, though.
This made me feel a wee bit better...

But i'm not reading any of the reviews until i see it.
I was just gonna ask what a "Mannboys" is but I think I realized it as I was typing this... fanboy of Michael Mann, amirite?Blackhat - 5/10
Fucking Mannboys piss me off. This is a preposterously unrealistic boring unfathomable joke.
I'm very cautiously anticipating seeing JW tomorrow night.
Not reading any of the reviews since the embargo lifted this week, but i don't have the greatest feeling (and haven't since the trailers).
Really hoping to be wrong.
Lower your expectations for Ex Machina.
I absolutely love it, but it seems my opinion is very far to one side while there are a fair number who aren't very enamored. Average is probably somewhere in between. Good but not great.
For me it just apparently hits all the checkboxes that i don't even know i have.
Hard to fully explain.
Mad Max (the original): 5/10
So having never seen a Mad Max movie before, Fury Road was awesome enough to peak my interest in its predecessors. Seeing the original rated at 90%+ on rottentomatoes, I thought I was in for a similarly epic experience. I got a late 70s B movie with bad writing, inconsistent universe and bad audio. Granted I suppose it's impressive given the shoestring budget, and it certainly wasn't horrible, but given the ratings I was expecting a lot more. Not necessarily another Fury Road extravaganza, but at least a tightly written, engaging movie. As it stood I had to try and pay attention through some parts of it, as well as decipher the plot and who was who, and that's never a good sign. Movies shouldn't require reading a manual.

I am convinced that it is doing well because people see it and then are told that they actually did less than 90% of the movie in CGI.
JW has two problems in my head:
1) Those stupid ball shaped transports. Make something that clearly can not work well. How would that physically go up a steep incline? Mud puddles? It just breaks my brain when you could have JUST USED A JEEP which is kinda what you would want when having to drive offroad a lot. I'm assuming if this place were real that you would not be driving around in Priuses. Seriously, why not just use a Prius. it probably would be of more utility than the ball thing.
Wow, that was long. And ...
2) Genetically engineered dinosaur that has above average intelligence. Why not just genetically engineer sharks to increase their brain size, but then have this side effect of making the sharks smarter and more dangerous. Actually, that would be a great plot to a movie. Oh wait .... It's not Jurassic world it is Deep Blue See 2.
Anyway.... It's currently holding at 73% on Rotten Tomatoes. So probably worth seeing in theaters just for the special effects and crap.
Polygon had a good review. Basically good but you don't care about the characters like you did with the original Jurassic Park.
The more I think about it (which is probably too much) the more I dislike Ex Machina. I mean, it was well done, but the entire motivation of the AI and the helper was just moronic. It makes no sense.
It's really good.
I started the first season and quickly powered thru it and the second.
Really good show.
Jupiter Ascending - 6/10
An entertaining mess. Lots of potential that didn't really pan out.
Avengers: Age of Ultron - 9/10
Ridiculously fun time. Liked it a lot more than i expected to.
Really hope there'll be an ultra extended cut as Whedon could easily have used another hour or so with the large cast.
Mad Max: Fury Road - 9/10
What an epic spectacle. Great movie, this one twice in 8 days.
Initially wasn't as big of a fan, but really appreciated it more the second viewing. Max and Furiosa's relationship in this is remarkable.
I know ONE person IRL that i can somewhat trust for movie advice. The rest of my friends have such bad taste in movies i've learned i need to just smile and nod.
Waiting for these to hit bluray ... I'm guessing it'll be a while?
Unless you've got a nice home theater setup, do yourself a favor and see Mad Max in the theater. The effects and acoustics are well worth it.
Well.... off to see JW with my daughter!
Same here, I don't get the love for the first one but Road Warrior is definitely the movie that made Max Mad badass.^^ first one is hard for me to get through, but you need to watch The Road Warrior, that movie is awesome. You can skip the third one.
