I had no idea 2001 was filmed in 70mm. Film stock was generally crappy at the time.
True, though apparently the one I saw was meticulously restored. Anyway, I am probably overthinking it.

Yeah, from what I can see it is very mixed, though most Tarantino lovers still love it and non-fans hate it. I'm trying not to get too worked up either way, though I do typically love his stuff.

I'm a Tarantino fan and actually raised mine one point the other day.
It's new and the 70MM probably looks great though. Didn't see that.
I'd have to say it isn't one of his brightest moments myself.
Eh... I'd say The Revenant fits the Western genre more-or-less to the 'T.'Not a Western.
It's on Amazon Prime, so no excuses not to watch Ex Machina...unless you don't have Prime.
Which is a terrible excuse.
Did anyone see The Hateful Eight in 70mm? Trying to decide if I should use my last day of freedom tomorrow to make the 40 minute trek to a 70mm screening, or just see it within walking distance.

Ex Machina - I already reviewed this. But I don't understand the love for the movie. It was good. But not great. A solid 6/10 maybe.
It would have been better if the owner of the company was a robot and the actual Turing Test would be to see if the human realized that he was a robot. It would have made for a much better movie.
i thought it was dull and did not like it at all.
I completely agree
70mm Hateful Eight roadshow 9.5/10 (probably be 8.5/10 if I saw it using a DCP)
The wide ratio Ultra Panavision was flat out amazing. Exterior shots were breathtaking and even it was creatively used on the interiors. Print condition and presentation were excellent (I chose somewhere it would be).
If you're a fan of his work you'll like the movie. The scene leading up to the intermission is some of his best work ever and a knockout Samuel L. Jackson performance on par with his Jules Winnfield in Pulp Fiction. The Morricone score was also totally fabulous.

Same.

FWIW: reviews also tend to say this but I found the movie to be hilarious even though pacing was kinda crappy.Zoolander - 4/10
Nope, not for me.
Yup, the original 3 films are finally starting to show their age. It's hard to appreciate them anymore. Must have been amazing to be a teen and seeing these from 1977-1983 though.Star Wars: Episode VI Return of the Jedi - 7/10
n7 finally sees the final Star Wars, six days prior to seeing the new one.
As he expects, he's not really a fan of the franchise overall and still thinks people primarily love it for nostalgic reasons.
Star Wars: The Force Awakens - 7/10
JJ Abrams with the fan service continuation movie. Entertaining, but i don't see myself caring about any more of the bajillion new ones Disney is going to pump out.

ugh, I was turned off by the dismal reviews and 3.5 hour run time but this review intrigues me as I much enjoy QT's camera work (sometimes more than the movie itself). Decisions decisions...
