You mean that Shaloub was stoned through the entire filming, or that the character he played was actually stoned throughout the story, and they just edited out the "getting stoned" and "references-to-being-stoned" scenes?

Because either situation would offer an interesting new perspective on that film.

His character. Originally, Galaxy Quest was supposed to be rated R and they decided to scrap that and dropped some parts and redubbed some of the more course language. Shaloud getting stoned was one of them. There is a very noticeable one where Weaver clearly says "fuck this" and it was just dubbed over to like "forget that" or something.

The Fifth Wave
7/10?

I mean, the movie was ok. It was fairly fun, and except for a ~5 minute sequence in the beginning the effects were well done. No horrible acting or anything, it was just kinda empty. I would have given it 5/10 since it just didn't suck, but there was enough in there to bump it up 2 as long as you aren't looking for any real story at all.

A directors cut of the R rated GQ would be awesome, and yea, I always felt that Monks character seemed...a little off, so when it was said he was supposed to be stoned the entire movie, it all made sense. The "screw this" dub is right as they go into the chompers and don't know how I missed it all these years

I saw the preview for it and thought "damn, this looks cool as hell!" But a few days ago I happened to check the Rotten Tomatoes for it and it was getting completely raped. Although I don't put a whole lot of importance on their ratings it's nice to kind of get a feel for a movie. I'm still not sure on whether or not I'll see it.

Finally go to see Kingsman: The secret Service 8/10

I held off on seeing this for some odd reason. I actually enjoyed it very much. Didnt realize it was rated R. Which is why i probably didnt see it in the first place.

straight outta compton - 10/10 - movie was awesome. i didn't know the story of them because i was too young to realy know what was going on at the time but i was a huge fan of cube and dre when they were solo. i had no clue about the falling out and stuff, and i didnt realize how quick eazy e fell off. the guy who played eazy completely stole the show, he did a great job. just loved the whole vibe to the movie and liked the way they ended it with the credits and the straight outta compton song/video.

Meh. It's very sugar coated and hardly "the story". Very self aggrandizing.
They sure made themselves look like misunderstood angels.

And yes, I like and listened to their music growing up (as much as a white kid in suburbia Wisconsin can)

Finished the second season of The Bridge (Bron/Broen) - 9/10. Freaking love this show. Thankfully there is still another season to watch!

Also started watching the original X-Files. Only about 4 episodes in, but that show is pretty amazing, even though it is over 20 years old at this point. The characters are so great and the stories are fun interesting. Hope it stays that way!

Is this on Netflix or Hulu or Amazon or something? I've never seen even a single episode, but based on what I've heard I think it'd be something I'd like.

The entire show is on Netflix up here; I would assume the same for you folks down south.

It's not a bad movie, but don't get tricked into thinking it's an action movie, or a horror movie, or really even an apocalypse movie either. It's mainly a setup for a sequel that could be any of those things, and it has it's moments where you think it's leaning towards a sixth sense twist or some sort of phycological thriller, but it never materializes.

It's like world war z and 127 hours both went off their ADHD meds but instead of making them hyper they just completely lost any focus.

i watched (almost entirely)

The Iceman http://www.imdb.com/title/tt1491044/reference

story of Richard Kuklinski, mafia killer and general bad guy.

a ... an average film, very accurate historically, not particularly exciting. i still think, if you gonna make a film, you need to exaggerate a bit; give it a little ooomph.
Instead, films like this wind up being a documentary, minus the voiceover.

Nothing you haven't seen unless you have never seen a mafia film, ever. Still, not garbage.

Would not recommend, 6/10

The Voices - http://www.imdb.com/title/tt1567437/

This movie really caught me off guard! Not sure how my wife even came across it but after 15 minutes she had to get me to watch it too, and I am glad she did! I think Ryan Reynolds did a really good job, within the confines of the movie, playing his role. Most of the supporting cast was good as well. It is a really good dark comedy, and I think they did a great job balancing humor on the sharp tipping point between comedy and serious. My only disappointment was
the ending. I wish they spent a bit more time wrapping it up better story wise, and I would have also liked to see more of what reality really was for him like how they did for his apartment.

Over all it was a solid 7 for me!

Probably. Was supposed to see it tonight, but snow, etc. Although the tv show was on for, 3 seasons I think. So there was probably a lot of additional material.
