Kung Fu Panda 3 [8/10]: The entire trilogy is great- it was getting real cliché by third time around, but they still managed to pull it off with plenty of jokes that are actually funny (unlike blatant pop humor seen in Deadpool), and Po's character stayed true to the end.

There has been lots of lame animation films lately. KFP3 is not one of them. As a matter of fact, this trilogy rivals Toy Story trilogy in quality.

Go see it!
9/10 velly cute movie for everyone

Just got done watching Bride Of Chucky on Encore. Movie started out funny then went to boring and then stupid. I'll give it a 5/10.

MM:FR is refreshing because it's exactly what it looks like. It doesn't pretend to be intellectual or have depth. It's just non-stop mayhem.

Zootopia was fantastic. 9.5/10

One of the funniest kids movies I have seen. The gags don't rely on pop-culture references to entertain the adults -- like a Pixar film (not like a Dreamworks film). This was actually created by Disney's non-Pixar animation studio; the one responsible for things like Wreck-It Ralph, Frozen, Big Hero 6, etc. They've really done a much better job than anything they've put out before and much better than any of the Pixar stuff since Toy Story 3.

I wouldn't rate it quite as highly but I have to agree. I don't think there were any moments I would consider truly hysterical but there was good comedy throughout. Very consistent. I saw this with a friend and she laughed at stuff that I didn't and vice-versa. So based on that I would say that if you have a sense of humor at all, you're going to like it. You might not laugh at every joke and gag, but there will be plenty that you will like.

Same, Zootopia (curiously listed as "Zootropolis" on IMDb http://www.imdb.com/title/tt2948356/reference ) was really funny, touching and beautiful to behold; but it was also quite cringey with it's all-inclusive message, girl power, crying, bad decision from the lead character that would rival a B- movie horror film, some "when did he do that?" moments too.

i'm gonna be generous and say 8/10 for adults.

I thought the nudists and DMV were hysterical. Same for the animal praising the other animal's
non-existent memory while remembering every detail himself and the otter lady being "too fast" for the fat nerd cheetah[/quote] (nature's fastest land animal).

Zootopia was probably a 7 or a 7.5 for me. Tangled and Zootopia show that Walt Dosney Animation Studios is nearly as good at broadly appealing humor as Pixar (with John Lassiter, they should be). My main issue is that the story was oddly contradictory in many ways, "good" characters routinely generalize and stereotype while preaching against it.

They didn't need a warrant to get a character's tax information but had to have an excuse to proceed without one later. Furthermore, they stressed that the character did not have the resources to obtain such information. The protagonist routinely blackmails and threatens others to elicit favors and cooperation. She abuses her power and eventually
forms a long-term relationship with a lawless crime boss.

:hmm:
These unintentionally bad messages sit right next to a ham-fisted SJW message that certainly could have been handled a little better.

The Witch - 6/10

I finally saw it. I definitely would have been annoyed if I didn't know anything about it going in. That being said, it was decent. Very well shot and directed with little plot.

Stupid movie, but it was quite entertaining and that's what movies are all about.

Valley Uprising (Netflix 9/10)

I'm super enthusiastic about all things related to climbing, so I absolutely, positively loved this documentary. It's informative, fun, funny, relates a ton of the history of big wall climbing in Yosemite, and kept me engrossed for 2 hours. Highly recommended.

Hateful 8 - 3/10

Boring beyond compare. If not for the scenery I would give it a 0/10

I have to be honest - my original score was 10/10 but figured the usual ATOT crowd would scoff. I'm seriously considering watching it again tonight, which is a pretty good indicator of how good I think it is...

Picked up a couple of new Blu-Rays recently.

The Revenant - 9/10. I thought the cinematography in this was wonderful. I think Leo deserved the Oscar for this as well.

Chappie - 7/10. I have liked pretty much everything Neill Blomkamp has done to this point and I liked this one as well. Worth watching for sure, but nothing truly amazing.

The Last Dragon - 9/10. I picked this up on BR after seeing a thread here about the movie and a potential remake. We loved this movie in the theaters as teens, so I was biased going in. This is purely a nostalgia ranking because the movie is pure cheese. It's funny to see just how bad a singer Vanity really was. She wasn't much of an actress either. But she sure looked good. If you didn't grow up with this movie it's probably a 5/10 at best.

We also saw 10 Cloverfield Lane in the theater recently. I would give that one 8/10, maybe just a tick lower. John Goodman was awesome. The ending was a little weird, but I still liked it.

i went back to the classics ..

Paycheck - http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0338337/reference

intriguing, if somewhat sloppy action-scifi film.

the film starts with so much potential; the basic plot,
"a scientist who uses a memory erasing technique as a form of non-disclosure agreement, leaves himself clues to his future with which he must figure out the forgotten details of his last job"
which is not too distant from Total Recall, is intriguing and well laid out.
The action scenes are slightly off, and they do not fit the mood of the film.. or rather, than the first half of the film, which is the better part.

Uma Thurman and her sausage fingers do not convince as the love interest, and the finale is just like the one in Howard The Duck, except worse.

But all in all, it's a fun flick, Ben Afflec is pretty good here (before "success" went to his head), the villain is decent but has too little screen time, the sets are solid, it could have been so much more with just a little more effort.

7/10

Keanu - 6.5/10

I was really looking forward to this because - kitteeeeehhhhhhss. Also Key and Peele have such a good rep as comics. And the movie was ok but it was mostly cringe humor. By that I mean they kept getting into these cringe-worthy situations but there wasn't much humor in addition to the cringe factor.

This movie had so much potential and in my opinion they just wasted it. It was still amusing and I'm glad I saw it, but I would wait for it to come out on disc rather than waste the money.
