The Forest - 1/10 - reminds me part of the reason i hate horror movies. So boring, stupid, and made no sense/confusing.

yeah, that's what I like about Craig--he's closer to the "real" Bond than any portrayal previously. Though, if you look at Dr No and FRWL (that being my 1st or 2nd favorite ever), those first two Connery roles he was playing quite the hardass.

Casino Royale was easily one of the best in the series. I agree that the others were disappointing or even stinkers. I did like Spectre, though. Not great....but I preferred it to the previous two (they mostly feel like Bourne movies)
I never read the books so that may affect my opinion.

Goodnight Mommy (2014)

Pretty good horror film did not see that coming at all. Not bad. Wish I had seen it at the theater.

Thanks for pointing me in the direction to this film. I find myself often watching horror flicks just for the suspense. I love suspense movies.

Fun Fact:

Thats the real James Bond.

Ian Fleming wrote the books after himself. It was Sean Connery's idea to make him silly. The producers kept going with it.
I definitely know that but Craig is so emotionless he's just not good whether he's closer to the Ian Fleming vision of Bond or not. He just has his duck lips and stares.

The night manager - 8/10

I mentioned this in an earlier post but had only seen a couple of episodes. This turned out to be pretty good. It's probably only worth a 6 or 7 but Hugh Laurie and Tom Hiddleston were pretty good. Worth watching for their performances.

Although the ultimate outcome is never in doubt as with most tv shows, the journey is interesting even if at times it seems a bit forced and unrealistic. This is especially true in the first episode but try not let that get in the way until you've at least seen the first 2.

Plenty of action and suspense. And Laurie makes a very convincing bad guy.

^^^ I agree with all of this.

I was down on it after the first ep, but watching the second ep got me reasonably into it. It is what it is, and what it is is "not that bad at all."

i went on a binge

High Rise - http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0462335/reference

surreal drama about people living in a building, eventually losing touch with reality and starting to follow the building's "rules", like it's its own world.

ermm.. so so, i like my films more down to earth, but i guess it wasn't all bad.

6.5/10

Filth - http://www.imdb.com/title/tt1450321/reference

we follow the story of a scottish policeman who tries to be a respectable and upstanding police officer, while also trying to get his rocks off being a perverted animal.

better than The Bad Lieutenant, and James McAvoy is pretty good. 7/10

Midnight Special - http://www.imdb.com/title/tt2649554/reference

a young boy with supernatural powers claims to be from another world, and has his friends and family help him get to "the place of the appointment" while evading the police; Kylo Ren shares the lead.

had some pretty neat stuff in it, the same vibe you get from Keanu Reeves' The Day The Earth Stood Still, but there were also some rather uninteresting bits where they try to make a statement on smalltown america and religious belief.

still, decent film. 7/10

The Oxford Murders - http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0488604/reference

Frodo Baggins stars in this sort-of period drama, as a foreign student at Oxford, and find himself tangled up in a series of mysterious murders that might have something to do with abstract math (they don't).

pretty shallow murder drama a la' miss marple, with a rather lame ending, and elija wood really should not be given serious roles as he cannot deliver.

and then, to pick myself up, i watched a couple classics.

The Abyss - http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0096754/reference

James Cameron's epic .. no. not titanic. NO, NOT AVATAR. NO, NOT TERMINATOR EITHER !!

James Cameron's epic The Abyss is so grossly underestimated .. the main issue is that it's two films squashed together, the Alien-thingie with the water creatures, SciFi, and the Adventure bit, with the sub and the station flooding, both of which could make a whole film on their own .. and i'm not kidding, as i've watched the Uncut Version, at 2h45m w/o credits.

People are gonna be put off by the running time, and by how different the two themes are; the SciFi part is all feelgood, a la Cocoon, and the Adventure bit is quite grim, with Michael Bihen playing the Evil Army Dude(tm) like a proper psycho.

But, the film is so marvellously complex, so well crafted, so well put together, that you'll forget it's 3 hours long - just keep stocked with popcorn.

The alien city at the end is so laughably cartoonish, you'll spend the rest of your life thinking "why use CGI everywhere, but not when you need it?", but the script more than makes up for it. The characters are believable, the acting is pretty good, the only real problem is that, like many epics, you really need to be in a movie theater to enjoy it, as it's been designed for the big screen - it loses so much impact on a pc monitor.

8.5/10

and,

Hot Shots ! - http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0102059/reference

plus

Hot Shots, Part Deux !! - http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0107144/reference

marathon.

I remembered Ep 1 as funnier, and Ep 2 as less funny, i guess i must have them switched around - Ep 1 is the pisstake on Top Gun, while Ep 2 is the pisstake on Rambo, but like the Austin Powers series, they got better as they went along - more money, a clearer vision of what they wanted to achieve, and more charlie sheen... you can never have enough charlie sheen.

Ep 1 : 6.5/10 - meh, it's kinda like Airplane, but not as good.

Ep 2 : 7/10 - solid spoof comedy film.

Alright, the L.E.T.H.A.L ladies collection is as follows:

1985 Malibu Express
1987 Hard Ticket to Hawaii
1988 Picasso Trigger
1989 Savage Beach
1990 Guns
1991 Do or Die
1993 Enemy Gold
1993 Fit To Kill
1993 Hard Hunted
1994 The Dallas Connection
1996 Day of the Warrior
1998 Return To Savage Beach

Please keep in mind that while Andy Sidaris had a role in all of these, he did not direct every one.
His films got better as time went on so if Malibu Express doesnt impress you much, just keep going to the mid 90's, you'll be glad to did. They're not as good as the Troma films, but decent enough to keep you from getting bored.

Also, dont watch them in front of friends or family, they may not respect you afterwards.

i watched

Zoolander 2 - http://www.imdb.com/title/tt1608290/reference

disjointed.
it carries the Zoolander name, but does not replicate the success. I personally did not mind the many cameos, some were funny (Justin Bieber's death scene), and there were a ton of jokes in the film .. it's just that .. they didn't really work.
The story is VERY derivative. The first film had a pretty straightforward story; of "brainwashing people to make them into assassins" (i think the two Manchurian Candidate covered the topic fairly exhaustively), very James Bond, but with the twist of adding these two idiotic characters.
The second film is *more* about these two idiots than the plot itself, and the story (as far as i can tell) is a rehash of The DaVinci Code.

It's clear they have thrown a ton of money at the screen with Z2, but honestly i think this film ranks with stuff like "Meet The Spartans" if not for the superior production values.

Zoolander was a great film; everything in it clicks and the end result is a epic final scene when i'm genuinely astonished to see MAGNUM ! and what it can do. It made me believe.

Zoolander 2 has many of the same ingredients but mixed up all wrong.

You can watch it and have a laugh but do not expect the same memorable stuff as the first film.

Good stuff, eh? It was kind of a mind fuck for me but I liked it.

Finally got my fuckin Netflix movie yesterday after waiting forever. Path to War -- 7/10. This is a TV movie from 2002 about Johnson and his administration and the buildup to the Vietnam War. It was pretty good, and man, Baldwin sure looked like McNamara, hahaha.
