Vice Principals 8/10

Yeah I love his style so that is why it I rated it that high

Agreed. I started a thread on it.

I get when people don't like McBride/Hill humor, and that's fine. That's their prerogative. I hate country music too, but millions seem to enjoy it. To each their own. Personally, I love McBride. This show has thus far showcased him perfectly.

Stranger Things 7/10: I too give this 7/10. Despite its hype at reddit, it's plain watchable at best. And this comes from someone who's a HUGE sucker for coming-of-age films & scifi. And this show pays tribute to all those of the 80's (Stand by Me, ET, Goonies, etc)

For a show that's supposed to be grounded (scifi elements aside), few of the plotholes made no sense. Why didn't they simply kill Hop when they first found him in the complex? Just have him wake up at his home? lol.

This show did not suck me in, wanting for more like Better Call Saul, BB, or etc.

In terms of quality & overall watchability, I'll give this a notch below Aziz's 'Master of None.' I think I rated that show 8/10.

I haven't even completed the final episode and I haven't been eager.

I don't want to talk about it too much where I might expose people to spoilers, but I'm wondering how they kept interrupting each other on half-duplex radios.

Also wondering how Steve found Nancy and Jonathan... and why they acted like Barb never existed at the end of it all... and why the news clipping still had Joyce saying that they took her kid when they didn't (despite their ultimate responsibility for what did).

Lord of War 9/10

Watched it a second time and thoroughly enjoyed it again, its gritty and has aged well. It's probably Nicolas Cage's best role, should have deserved a few Oscar nominations in my opinion.

what, you've only watched lord of war twice?? i've seen it idk, 8 times? enough to memorize most of the dialogue.

me, i watched what i thought was going to be a mediocre film, did not expect A MASTERPIECE?!?

MOTHERFUCKING SNAKES ON A MOTHERFUCKING PLANE - http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0417148/reference

seriously, this film is way better than i thought; i had only read the reviews up to today, and from what i read i assumed it was just not funny.
Instead it's got humor, action, classic horror cheese, tits, and SLJ in his best role ever!

Ok maybe not so great, but a great popcorn flick. would recommend to anyone who still has a soul.

Personally, i loved everything from this film - the direction, acting, great pacing .. i could do with less shakey-cam (as always), but besides that, loved it.
(the girl with the big tittonz is Samantha McLeod)

8/10 because tits + snakes

I liked one line in Hateful 8. 10 seconds out of 307 minutes.

I love some of the individual performances and elements of IB and DU, but I feel QT hasn't made a masterpiece since KB, and is slipping ever further into a caricature of himself, and H8 was utterly devoid of any worthwhile story or performance.
I didn't get off on KB. I have it in my collection and figure to rewatch and hope to really like it. It wouldn't be the first time that a rewatch really worked for me with a movie that I didn't like the first viewing.

The only QT movies that really did it for me are Pulp Fiction and Jackie Brown. Both are IMO very rewatchable.

Mustang (2015) 9/10

Watched last night. I knew nothing going in, watched it on high recommendation. Turkey's been in the news, and guess what, this takes place in Turkey. Subtitled. Several musical contributions attributed to Nick Cave. Female director, who was pregnant when making this and the stars here are the 5 adolescent girls. This shows a side of human nature not usually seen on screen. The director got this out of them, of course it was in them. The playfulness of youth. I think this is a great movie! The interview of the girls in the extras was cool. I also like the short included on the DVD which was from ~2004, "A Drop of Water." It was beautifully human/political/poetic and shared some themes with Mustang.

this movie was bit of a mind fuck. The lead actress was easy on the eyes. Very good story about what if there was another earth to ours.

X-Men: Apoc 5.5/10: IMO comic book movies are BEST when its scope is kept small. So you can relate to it as it stays grounded with our history backdrop and/or current events.

That's why Iron Man 1 & X-Men First Class are TOP comic book movies in modern history. It intricately deals with politics (Middle-east for Iron Man & Cold War tension for XMFC), and it's endearing to see Tony Stark tooling around in his basement or attending charity events. Same goes for Xavier & Mystique going to bars & growing up going to university. Charles honing in Magneto to use his power was an amazing scene (when he moves the huge dish around).

When the scope gets too big with cosmic villains, the movies become just too comical for me. And just plain too unrealistic & cartoony. I hope you get my drift.

XMFC was awesome. Days of Future Past was okay due to a major plothole in the end. This Apoc suffered from a horrid one-dimensional villain who was as interesting as watching paint dry.

This movie sucked.

Hmm, I loved it. It's no DoFP, and there are two (maybe three?) cringe-worthy dialogue moments, but overall I had a blast with the film.

I think my brother has it confused with "After Earth."

Yes, I assume the film originally referred to was Another Earth with Brit Marling. Decent flick, but I didn't love it.

last month not liked:

Mouchette http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0061996/ --- 6/10 probably going to see it again (4th time)

edit:

I m European from Florence (Italy) probably these movies are considered horrible in other continents

i also watched some films with profound cultural significance:

The Purge - http://www.imdb.com/title/tt2184339/reference

The Purge: Anarchy - http://www.imdb.com/title/tt2975578/reference

The Purge: Election Year - http://www.imdb.com/title/tt4094724/reference

all garbage, but what did you expect?

to be honest, the first film is incredibly well made as the combined cost of all three films was $22M (they made $280M at the box office).
also, it's obvious that you need a lot of suspension-of-disbelief to watch this, but all in all they were pretty decent.

it s not for culture, these movies are in some points slow, but if can use 1.5 h of your life looking at:

Bicycle Thieves http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0040522/ 8/10

La Strada http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0047528/ --- 8/10

...

you re going to think about em for the rest of your life.

ah yes, the great cinema of italy; neoclassical period, if i recall correctly.

i prefer something a bit more sophisticated, if you will, such as these classics:

http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0070279/reference

http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0082407/reference

and obviously the unforgettable russian masterpiece of Sergej M. Enistein, here seen in a short skit:

Good Fellas 7/10

I know, I know. It's a classic. It moved along at a good clip, was an interesting story especially since it was based on real people and events and some of the acting was superb. But being 20 some years old, it felt dated and parts seemed way over acted. I probably shouldn't mark it down for those things but . . . tough titties.
