3/10 for me. Gervais is soo fake imo.
Yeah, he's not a great actor but I think he's competent in this movie. He's marginal but competent overall. The rest of the cast I think make up for his failings.

edit: also, if you like the concept, you're going to like the movie. I don't think Gervais' shortcomings detract from that so 3/10 is a bit severe.

edit2: Just out of curiosity I checked metacritic and the movie has a pretty abysmal 36 rating over all. So you're closer to the average than I am.

Spacehunter: Adventures in the Forbidden Zone 7/10
Another fun 80s movie. Road Warrior the Sci-Fi version well kind of maybe throw in a bit of Han Solo. Micheal Iron side hamming it up as the bad guy is great and I love the miniatures.

Jeff Ross' Roast Battle - 8/10 - Short mini-series contest that was on Comedy Central where comedians roast each other. There were some good rounds, there were some bad rounds, but for the most part it was pretty awesome. Someone should have done this years ago. I hope they do more. The guest judges were great too. For those who don't know what a roast is, it's like hip hop, but without the guns (which...was pointed out to Kevin Hart on the show). It was way better than Wild N' Out (or however that's said).

i LOVE this film. The girl is super-hot and the bag guy is really cool. Super trashy 80s scifi film but a great memory for me.

there's a whole bunch of scifi from the 70s and 80s that needs to be appreciated more, maybe even a reboot. just, not all-female cast, ok?

Jason Bourne - 7/10. Damon was in good shape to do this movie again even it was over 10 years ago that he did the first one. If you see the first few movies with Damon in them, this one was very much the same. I like the new girl, cute and smart. Did not like the chase scene at the end. WTH was the purpose?

Forgot about her...

Been thinking about it a lot recently, and after seeing Star Wars Episode 7 3 times I think I'll finally rate it. 4/10

I'd give the much hated Episode 1 a 6/10 just because it actually had non-spastic flow and didn't leave a glaring "Wtf is going on?" feeling. I don't remember any of the music from the movie, where as the previous 6 I always did. The contrast between Rey and her super awesomeness and Luke makes Luke appear to be an utter fuckup by comparison. I mean seriously how many times did he rely on other people to save him in the original trilogy compared to Rey and her "I don't need no man! I don't need you!"-ness?
Han dying was lackluster, and people seemed to care as much as they did for all the other planets being destroyed...they didn't seem to at all.
Kylo's strength at the beginning is never seen again as he seems much weaker at the end for no apparent reason...I guess you can say PTSD but that's a weak excuse.

Without nerding out too much I can just say I really tried to like the movie but I couldn't. It was exciting to experience the first time around, then when it was over you left with more questions than you came in with, which I do not like in a movie. This is not a TV show, there should be a beginning, middle, and end to each movie....this one just felt spastic as hell with it's pacing/plot focus changes. 2 points for being Star Wars, 2 points for audio/visual design.

wow. i cannot believe anyone would take that pile of vomit of the prequels over the marvel-superheroes-class action flick that is Ep 7. i cannot for the life of me think of anything worse that the prequels. i would rather watch a marathon of Adam Sandler films than sit through a single prequel film.

instead, i watched The Whole Truth - http://www.imdb.com/title/tt3503406/reference

the latest Keanu Reeves effort.

although this film isn't anywhere near the bad of Exposed, or Henry's Crime, it's still a pretty mediocre showing from Reeves.
The film is a very pedestrian courtroom drama, Reeves is a defense attorney fighting a case of a kid who killed his dad. the vast majority of the film doesn't really deviate from the Perry Mason drama (i.e. nothing much happens aside from the standard case procedures), until the end when there is the obvious plot twist, a plot twist so plot-twisty that it would make M. Night Shamalamadingdong twist in his cinematographical grave.

Apparently, they had msstttrrrr BOND, James Bond (Daniel Craig) lined up for this, but he dropped out a mere 3 days before filming started; and for some reasons they decided to have the part of an aging, stuffy lawyer, being played by an actor whose sole successful films are action-based.
Could it be that Craig's agent read the script, and got him to drop this stinker?

Anyway,
it's not *that* bad. You could delete the twistytwist, and have a no-name play the Reeves part, and you'll get a honest homage to the courtroom serials of the 60s. Which makes for a decent film to have running in the background while you do the dishes.

Also starring (top billed, no less) an old and tired Renee' Zellweger who looks and acts like a mockery of her old self. She ought to be cast in a nice twin-female-lead film together with the recently seen Kim Basinger (The Nice Guys) so we can pretend it's the 90s all over again. Wohoo!! WHO WANTS TO PAR-TEEEHY!

seriously, 5.5/10

I'd watch episodes 1 & 3 over episode 7 any day of the week. Episode 2 remains the worst in the franchise though.

The love "story" in 2 seemed REALLY creepy to me since most of the buildup was cut from the final film. For an almost 2.5hr movie they sure did seem to cut some vital scenes out that could have helped the story progression.

Totally agree. It was such a boring mess. Honestly episode 2 deserves last place for that scene in the fields alone (the one where he surfs in the back of that animal then pretends to be hurt). Good lord that is just painful to watch.

I abhor Episode I but the music was good and the pod race was exciting. The opening was pretty good too. The writing/dialog, characters, and acting (casting/directing?) is where it totally falls apart.

Episode VII is schlock. Better-made schlock, but schlock. I'm not left wanting to hear the soundtrack themes again or wanting to relieve any particular moments like I was with *gasp* Episode I.

The direction was there, but some of the dialogue was just awkward to watch....was the same way in Episode 3 when Padme and Anakin talked.

The 8-part Hulu original "11.22.63" from Stephen King and JJ Abrams is much like a slower version of the Stephen King-inspired 8-part Netflix original "Stranger Things" from the Duffer Brothers. They are both set in the distinct past and both have a supernatural twist (King's forte) to set up the story but it doesn't jump around between different perspectives so it feels more intimate. So far, I'm up to episode 5 and enjoying it more than Stranger Things. Nothing against kids, but part of it is probably because the actors are all professionals and so the immersion is not broken by inexperienced acting (not that the kids can help it). I especially like that the supernatural/fantasy element is more grounded by traditional conspiracy and intrigue. Still plenty of tension and jump scares despite not being set up like a horror series.

If you liked "Stranger Things," definitely check out "11.22.63."

Cool. I've been meaning to watch this one. I read the book earlier this year and found it very entertaining. First Stephen King book I've read in many, many years, but thought it was pretty damn good. Looking forward to the show.

Phantasm 4/10
I think when I remember how awesome Phantasm is I am remembering 2 and 3. 1 is pretty slow, not a lot happens, and the end makes no sense. From googling I need to watch 2 for 1's ending to make sense. Still the Tall Man is great. Phantasm V is due out in October.

From the same people that brought you Re-Animator comes another classic WTF movie. Plot is kind of weird but you watch a movie like this for the great particle effects and there are plenty of those.

I think 1 is the best, they get worse as you go, but I still love them. None of them make sense

I saw take shelter a couple nights ago and really like it - 8.5/10 - maybe 9/10. Michael Shannon is a great actor- I also liked Shotgun stories (same actor/director).

Tonight I rented Demolition from redbox - wasn't expecting much but was entertained enough - 7/10. Acting was really good, story was just ok.

I'm late to it, but I've been burning through Rick and Morty very quickly. Funny and very creative
Yup, Rick and Morty is simply awesome.

American Ultra 8/10
Not sure why this movie is rated so poorly. It's funny as hell, has lots of action, is genuinely touching, and ultimately satisfying in the end. It's waaay over the top, but what action movie isn't? Every actor gives an excellent performance, even Kristen Stewart whom I normally avoid like the plague. Small roles like Tony Hale and John Leguizamo are superbly written, directed and executed, and Topher Grace is so perfect that for a moment I could not even smell the stench of everything he's done since That Seventies Show. No deeper meanings to be found, but highly entertaining.

Because Max Landis got all pissy on Twitter when it didn't do so well at the box office. He basically insulted the public for being stupid and not knowing what was good. They retaliated.

I enjoyed 11.22.63 and they sure left it open for future season(s), but I was definitely more into Stranger Things. I even typically ain't a fan of kid characters in shows cause I find them annoying, but I didn't think that at all with Stranger Things.
