Arrival. 6/10. First two thirds 9.5/10. Last third, 2/10.

Jungle book. 7/10.

Yes, I just rated jungle book higher than arrival.

The OA - 4/10 - Starts off with enough mystery to keep me watching, but it really devolves into some really stupid stuff and ends in an odd manner.

Please elaborate.

The primary movie ending is not the original ending. There is another ending that basically is how the book ended (which is they just keep driving). The other ending can be found on youtube.

BTW - I just found this out:

http://www.comingsoon.net/tv/news/702287-full-cast-announced-for-spikes-the-mist-tv-series

Apparently they are making a TV series with a different story that follows other characters during the same time period (universe).

Prescreenings are cancer. Some randomly selected idiots don't like a scene that wasn't targeting them as audience, and the studio butchers your film.

Just finished Quarry on Showtime. 7/10

Started off very good, had some slow eps and then finished pretty good. Really liked most of the actors. Not sure if they're planning on a second season.

I had to go to bed after, long day tomorrow..i will watch the rest some time this week hopefully and critique the rest.

Exodus: Gods and Kings - 7.5/10 - Pretty good and well paced. Didn't feel there were slow parts, they just flew threw long time periods occasionally and it worked. After watching the past season of Walking Dead, this was a treat.

Home Alone 2 - 10/10 - just a classic from my childhood that has aged very well. I can pretty much recite the movie word for word.

National Lampoons Christmas Vacation - 10/10 - another classic from childhood that brings back a lot of memories because I used to watch it all the time with my dad. I still find stuff in that movie that I never really realized or paid attention to before. And I still laugh out loud at many parts and the dialog is just perfect for that movie.

Totally agree. It has that beautiful Christmassy vibe to it which I feel no movie manages to come close to. And when you add in nostalgia, it makes a wonderfully beautiful movie.

The Missing
Here is a partial blurb from the Spectator's review. There are two series, each concerning different missing children. Excellent story telling.

"BBC1’s The Missing has been one of the undoubted TV highlights of 2016. Yet, even thrillers as overwhelmingly thrilling as this one have been known to blow it in the concluding episode, when the biggest revelation of the lot turns out to be that the writers couldn’t really answer all the questions that previous episodes had so intriguingly raised.

And of course, The Missing had raised more than most, with its fiendish plotting ranging across three timeframes — until last week, that is, when it added a fourth. So could Wednesday’s finale possibly avoid giving us that sense of outraged disappointment that comes from realising we’ve spent weeks looking forward to a full-scale solution that never quite comes? The answer, I’m happy to report, was a triumphant yes."

I give it a 8/10.

Westworld, the 70's movie.

Hard to watch because it's so aged. No one thing stood out as being particularly bad, it's just the acting, special effects, general pacing, music, atmosphere, etc are all off compared to modern film. Still, it was impressive to think that the movie came out before Terminator.

3/10 given modern standards. Probably a fairly solid 7/10 or 8/10 for it's time.

Aliens III (Assembly Cut) 7.5/10
liked it better than the theater version.

was the original plan to have 2 Aliens? One from the dog and one from the Ox?
If not, why shoot the other scene?

RIP Newt.
Irony: She survived alone vs all those Aliens in Aliens II just to die while in hyper-sleep in the sequel.

also, reviews said in the Assembly Cut, the prisoners found the husk of the Face Hugger.
I didn't see that?

It really is much much better than the theatrical cut because it gives much more character growth, and some essential plot points were cut (no idea why) that are part of the reason the theatrical version tends to make no sense. There was no plan to have 2 aliens, the shots were already done when the producers wanted reshoots/rewrites and scenes cut. I don't really know why they changed it from ox to dog - when the alien was never changed. The facehugger is in the scene where they bring in the dead ox.

Amazon Prime Video -Fleabag 9/10

Very funny, with a little drama in the end, British produced around 6 episodes.

This post prompted me to begin watching the series and after the first episode and a half I would like to add my two cents.

What is a fleabag anyway ? It's something like a dirty and/or unpleasant person or animal. And would you invite one home ? Would you let one sit in your car ? Do you want to even think about one after having encountered the thing ? No.

The press is raving about this little , how shall I call it, turd in the middle of the living room floor.
They call it rude as if that's a good thing.
They say "Fleabag's sex scenes are the filthiest on TV. But the heartbreak makes it revolutionary."
http://www.telegraph.co.uk/on-deman...are-the-filthiest-on-tv-but-the-heartbreak-m/
They got the first part right. The series continues some producers' thinking that an impertinent and unsavory depiction of sexuality is humourous, as if we are all the kind of morons represented by the lead and a few of the other characters.

You have been warned.

Rogue 1 - 8/5/10

Enjoyed the whole story overall. Didn't particularly care for the two main characters though. Great effects and lots of fun easter eggs. Also - ending was both epic from an action sequence standpoint and as a link between two movies.

I'm very late but I just watched/finished The Night Of. Has anyone seen the BBC series that it's based on, Criminal Justice?

I just tried watching the first episode and had to turn it off after about 5 minutes. It was very similar story-wise but without any of the grit, good acting, good writing, etc. Maybe it gets better but couldn't bring myself to watch it after seeing the HBO version

Is alien 3 - assembly cut

It's just called special edition?

I can't find links to buy the version everyone is talking about. Can I stream it?

EDIT: So this is the version that comes in the Alien quadrilogy Blu Ray set?

EDIT 2: THIS?
http://www.bestbuy.com/site/alien-q...-resurrection-blu-ray/8480122.p?skuId=8480122

If so I'll be grabbing it on my way home.

It's in the 2003 Quadrilogy version, and the 2010 Anthology version. The Anthology version has both versions of the movie (and 2 versions of of all 4 movies). I would say the Anthology is the better set to get. Very worth it for the version of Alien remaster that is on it. It looks amazing.

Picking up the anthology tommorrow at best buy. What sucks is that my local best buy had it when I posted. Apparently someone took the last copy(s).

Luckily I'm doing a morning hike near another best buy and I'll be grabbing it.
