True story, great cast. If you liked the Godfather, Casino, Goodfellas you will probably like this one. Acting and plot a little spotty in parts but then again people who knew the main character Daniel Greene said Ray Stevenson really captured him. Movie probably should have been a bit longer to develope the characters and make smoother story transitions.
Like a couple of the other recent posters I was really looking forward to this but it was overall kind of a let-down. I dunno, I thought the acting was great and effects were actually not horrendous like they can be in some non-AAA titles but the end was kind of a bummer. I mean, it just was kind of a let-down. The journey/story was fine but with the ending it was just kind like "Huh. That's it?" It just feels like they could've down a lot more with the movie and it would've had more of an impact. If that makes sense. I'm not sure I recommend it.
Been wanting to watch this and they lowered their price on amazon prime so I took a look. Its ok, a lot of the same interviews and pictures with some new revelations by Dave Hines especially during Commodores downfall. Trailer here.

A 3 parter.Part 3 was very interesting.Basically you have a lawyer that came out of the blue and said i have some pertinent informaion that will exonerate your client. But according to attorney client privilege he is unable to release it.The woman who gave him this information is dead(a letter apperently).
The Woman who gave him this letter commited suicide. He has said something along the lines of(lawyer) i will not release this information unless ordered to by the courts.Hes really wants to release this information,he also said i will take it to my deathbead. The law is very strange. My opinion, she dead ffs.
I thought the same thing about Signs as well but then I started to change my view slightly on it ...
because in Signs the way to combat them was with a resource that covers like 80% of the ground on the planet that the aliens traveled light years to come to and overtake, which is just so stupid when you think about it, but in A Quite Place it was more about what they had been doing the entire time in NOT trying to make any noises is what actually kept the creatures around. I assumed that the whole reason they hunted people and killed them while making noises is because they couldn't take it and it hurt them, not necessarily out of being a monster/mean/etc. It was more for their own survival as well since noise was their achilles in the end.
We also got the couple times during the movie where the deaf girl's hearing aid messed with the creatures but she didn't know why, whereas in Signs you had nothing like that other than the stupid little girl never finishing her cups of water and they just happened to be left around the house everywhere. Damn Mel Gibson must have had 3 cabinets full of glasses that were empty by the end of that movie.
But I do agree, the "moment" when they realize it was very Signs'ish and that was the same thing I thought when getting to the end,
I agree, it was my first thought though. Like a sudden flash of brilliance on how to win against these things. Its not exactly the same, but similar enough to me to trigger the thought. Little surprised this wasn't thought of first though, you think it would have been.
Again, I agree. Absolutely love Forest Whitaker as an actor. He did a good job as usual. I like seeing a black girl and white guy too, so I was pulling for this movie. Trailer looked good enough. Ending was atrocious. I was like, WTF, thats it?! Good twist at the end when he finally makes his destination, something I smelled out pretty quick. Nothing special about it, ending sucked, I would give it a 6/10 because of Forest. Before the last 10 seconds, probably a 7.5/10.
The Sinner, 8/10 so far, after 6 episodes. On Netflix, with Jessica Biel and Bill Pullman. Biel is one of my favorites. When deployed, we had a question to evaluate new guys. Jessica Simpson, Biel, or Alba. I always picked Biel. We all have our favorites.
Break from her usual roles, and she does a good job and looking plain Jane. And being a little cray cray. Story seems simple enough, but its not. Many twist and turns. 10 episodes long, and I binged the first 5. When you think you have a handle on the plot/outcome, it will change. Hoping the ending doesn't suck, looking forward to finishing it.
Ant Man & The Wasp: 8/10 - Maybe being too generous as the plot was so so but the movie was very entertaining. The comedy wasn't forced a la Guardians 2 or Thor Ragnarok. Acting was pretty good and effects were top notch. Maybe I missed it during a pee break but I didn't catch how Ava found the lab to begin with. Good movie though.

Visually appealing/stylish film, but did no-one watching it think it was utterly predictable? It was also rather American in how the antagonist hasn't a single positive character trait and the protagonist is a borderline Mary-Sue. The antagonist was totally two-dimensional and the backstory for why or how the creature was caught in the first place was paper-thin.
I wouldn't even bother asking why the antagonist didn't seek medical attention later in the film, because while a deeper film would likely be making some kind of statement about his obsession with displaying his superiority to the creature and wanting to avoid showing weakness, there would still be some justification for it (and frankly he already demonstrated his inferiority to it in a load of ways). There was no justification here, he just apparently goes from a straight-tied, everything more or less by the numbers yet ruthless kind of guy to a pill-bottle-swallowing junkie who observes his rotting fingers yet does nothing about it with no appreciable process of character degradation.
The acting was competent, direction and cinematography was good, the dialogue was OK. I'm sure the film could have been a lot worse, but I just didn't see any point in making such a mediocre film for which its style simply serves to highlight how much better a story it could have told. Add another half an hour of decent character development and there might be something worth talking about.
I'd file this film in the same category as 'Only Lovers Left Alive', labelled "wasted potential".
The only thing that surprised me were her gills, but that doesn't tie off any loose ends or reveal anything further. A PG version of the film would have had the creature healing the bad guy's fingers, but I can't say I was surprised by this film's conclusion in that respect.
I'd be curious to know what people think of the antagonist's foibles in bed and his sexual interest in the protagonist. Did the former happen because of the latter, or is he a control freak, or what?
Watched Die Hard again. It still holds up very well.
Have to give it a 9/10 especially for the lines "I am going to count to 3 there will not be a four. Give me the code." and "I am an exceptional thief Mrs. Mclane and since I am moving up to kidnapping. You should be more polite."
Almost forgot when the FBI agents helicopter explodes and they go down in flames. Deputy Chief Robinson says "We are going to need some more FBI guys.....I guess"
One more. The scene where Rickman pretends to be a hostage and Bruce hands him the unloaded gun. So good.

Dang man, those three? I guess I'd pick Biel. But gimme some Milana Vayntrub, Alexandra Breckenridge, Mary Elizabeth Winstead over those three! Haha, yeah, to each his own though.
Finished Here Alone last night. 8/10
Great performance by the lead actress, Lucy Walters. Good soundtrack too. I really liked it up until the last about 2-3 minutes.
SHE CHOSE THAT YOUNG GIRL OVER THE GUY!?! The girl who just a few minutes ago left her tied up to be horribly murdered by zombies? C'mon, no rational person would chose that f'ing bitch over the guy. I'd never be able to trust her again after that cute little stunt. I thought that was stupid as shit but otherwise I really liked the movie.
I don't think it really added too much new to the apocalypse/zombie movie but I enjoyed it, more than "How It Ends." Lucy Walters... <3
