the remake of Overboard. Holy fuck was it bad.

I have not seen the move, nor do I want to, but just the trailer that aired before every damn movie for like 4 months made me want to walk out of the Theater. I don't know if it was the actor, Eugenio Derbez, or the character he is playing, but I could not stand listening to him even deliver the 3 or 4 lines he says in the trailer.

They're all three named Jessica, so it was just more of a fun thing. Not like, who's the hottest out there out of anyone. This was 2010 too.
Duh, yeah I didn't catch that when I wrote that. Haha, roger that.

I wrote down a bunch of Emily Blunt movies (<3) after I stumbled upon a website with their list of her 10 top movies but of course Netflix has none of them, the ones I haven't seen yet, except the one I was least interested in watching, "Sunshine Cleaning." POOP.

I watched the classic
Three Days Of Condor

Starring Robert Redford; here he plays a CIA agent, but not a spy, rather a lowly office guy. For some mysterious reason, his whole unit is assassinated, and he needs to survive and to find out why they want to kill him, using what little resources an untrained spy has.

Classic oldskool spy film, with great pacing, good direction, a solid story, and an excellent marriage of actor and character. Max Von Sydow supporting.

Not a perfect film but one worth watching.

8/10

The Dwayne Rock Johnson' Hercules?
I liked it.

I wasnt happy about the CGI .. or the action .. but i liked the concept very much.

Also im super gay for The Rock but that's irrelevant.

I watched the latest RedLetterMedia re:view, about the classic Carpenter's The Thing. As always agreeing with everything they say.
Its notable that the film was originally panned by critics (including everyone's sweetheart Ebert) and did badly at the box office, even though it is now recognized as a great film.

Interesting info: apparently, the horrid reboot/prequel had ALL the effects done with practicals (e.g. animatronics) but a genius producer thought they looked "too retro" and had them all thrown out and replaced with that AMAAAAAAZING* cgi.

OK, the Lion King wasnt as bad as Hercules, but it damn sure wasnt good.
I do not understand how these things got to be so popular.

Logan.

"Laura.... no.... no.... move!"

Have to give it a 10/10 for wicked action sequences and old man wolverine with young (cloned female) wolverine. In a dystopian (x-men) future. Also busts a few movie tropes along the way.

Legacy of a white-taildeer hunter

Buck Ferguson (Josh Brolin), famous for hunting whitetail deer, plans a special episode of his hunting show around a bonding weekend with his estranged son, Jaden (Montana Jordan). With trusted--but hapless--cameraman and friend Don (Danny McBride) in tow, Buck sets out for what soon becomes an unexpectedly epic adventure of father-son reconnection in the great outdoors.
I liked Josh Brolin in this.

Kids. They were made for and beloved by kids. Those kids then grew up, but that love was already instilled. As an adult the best thing I can say about the movies is that the songs don't drive you completely nuts, like the ones in Frozen do.

Man I should finish watching this. I started watching it but stopped maybe about 35-40 minutes into it. I was alright but I can tend to stop watching something cause I get a bit bored and sometimes never get back to it. But with the universal acclaim the film gets I should at least give it a shot.

You have to treat Logan as more of a western movie where there are a handful high tension moments rather than a traditional non-stop action popcorn flick like most super hero movies. It's also a bit distracting in the beginning as it's just WAAAAAY more graphic and visceral than any other Wolverine movie in the past. You need to calibrate what you are watching.

The opening scene where Logan goes insane on the carjackers was exactly what I wanted in a Wolverine movie. They really need to make a Weapon X in that vein, just nonstop brutality.

Looks like im the only one who hated Logan. But thats ok, i respect your right to be wrong.

Meanwhile im enjoying Heart Of Darkness, the 1993 Tim Roth version, set during the 1880 colonial-england period.

Roth is a ship captain hired to replace the previous captain, Kuntz .. who died of disease, or was killed by natives, or went insane, or disappeared - at every turn someone has a different story.

The same story was recycled also used for Apocalypse Now, changing the Congo with Vietnam.

Tim Roth is good as long as he doesnt try to be Tim Roth, and while he isnt the most charismatic actor ever, the sets and locations are amazing. The pacing is sufficient, direction is tolerable, acting is decent. The story is the real hero here.

You not liking Logan has pretty much invalidated every post/review you've made in this thread.

Basically Logan is the dumb person's smart film. It's like if you want to eat Haute Cuisine and you trade your McD fot Five Guys. Patrick Stewart was particularly awful in it, and while i was never a fan, he tends to do well as a supporting character, say, Gourney Allec.

You got your old Wolverine (i guess total cell regeneration isnt total cell regeneration) who feels the protective instincts on the minime baby wolverine. There is lots of screaming and the obvious "the bad guys will try to take me away.. back to Mexico; pls protect me stepdaddy".
The bad guys show up with all guns and no aim, and somehow big and small wolverine bond iver the escape. Then wolverine MUST die because just saving the kid isnt enough.
The quality of trite emotions is the equivalent of a bad horror jumpscare, which is predictable, because Stewart never could pick decent dialogue. LOOK THIS GUY IS SICK! THIS GIRL IS SCREAMING! THIS MAN IS OLD!!
The film just tries to cram down your throat the most basic prefab emotions to tell a basic and inconclusive story that is wrapped by bad action, with the ending fight scene being both horribly predictable and even badly animated.

Marvel d'Auteur. Classy shit is still shit.

Yep DigDog, you're pretty much the only one that hated it

Logan: I thought the premise was great, and I appreciated the fact that it didn't come in the standard superhero film template of "hero has to save the world, big boss fight, yay job done". However I thought that in places it was let down by lazy script-writers, which brought the film down from what could have been easily one of the best superhero movies made to maybe slightly above average. Having said that, I'd easily prefer to watch Logan again before considering watching another cookie-cutter 'save the world' template film. I also think that 'Logan' was a passion project and it shows in a number of ways, as opposed to a "can we squeeze another sequel out of this dead horse?". In an emotional sense, I think 'Logan' is quite a lot like 'Looper' (though the latter is significantly better all-round).

You callin' me dum?!

I get what you're saying, but I didn't think Logan was trying to achieve high art status. It was basically what a serious superhero film should be, but we're all so used to the boring Marvel forumla.

I enjoyed Logan but did not think it's that great as the lame use of him literally fighting himself was extremely lame and extremely unimaginative.

What you call real and unimaginative, I call reality. Companies pumping out 'war machines' rarely reinvent the wheel.

As for 'dumb' peoples smart movie...people like to think they are above some things. It becomes evident in certain movies they like versus others. Most likely an age difference thing. I completely understand not liking someone everyone else loves. Happens often for me, but I'm not sure I was thinking while watching this 'hey this is a smart movie'. I was more like 'Finally, a Wolverine movie I can tolerate'. It wasn't the usual superhero movie trope either which helped.

This movie was basically John Wick as Wolverine.
