Have you met people before? People are pretty dumb.
Think of somebody you think has average intelligence. Then realize that HALF the world's population (3.5 billion) are dumber than that person. It's pretty depressing.
Haha, yeah I'm quite aware of how dumb people are. It's just such an outrageous thing that it's hard to believe that many people seriously believe in it. I honestly think a lot of the people are trolling or going along with it for fun, but that's just a guess.

As for Rifter's story, it reminds me of friends (not close friends but we used to hang out sometimes years ago) that believe in 9/11 conspiracy theories (and probably about a thousand other ones). They just refuse to take in new information that contradicts their beliefs. And if they somehow do agree to a new piece of information, they'll just say something along the lines of "well, what about this?" and find some new point to disagree with.

It's like they work backward from learning about something, where they set the outcome in stone (9/11 was a conspiracy) and then work backward from there to find things to support that.

I honestly think their brains process information differently than "normal" people. I don't really know why. But that's just my theory.

Ok back to movies. I started Siege of Jadotville a couple days ago and was enjoying it. Had to stop it to go to bed though. I think I got about halfway through it; I'd give it 7.5/10.

Don't really recall this movie as I don't really like the Craig David bond movies so I don't remember him from that.

Looking at his IMDB, I definitely don't remember him from Rogue One or Dr. Strange either. I also would have thought that he was Spanish and never would have guessed Danish.
He's best known as Hannibal (Lector) in the TV show, which is quite good.

It was the only really good Daniel Craig Bond flick, at least.

I think he was also Hannibal Lecter in the Hannibal series.

I'd have to agree with your thoughts as I just finished the 3rd episode. Music is great, acting is great and I'm digging the story so far. The only character that's bugging me is Klaus. I feel like the acting is forced, but it's not terribad. Just a bit annoying sometimes. Otherwise, I agree, 8/10 as of now, up or down depending on how the series unfolds.

I too just finished the 3rd ep. Pretty enjoyable show for me. I know nothing of the backstory so maybe that helps. Not disappointed about the authenticity of it like what happens all the time with shows/movies like this.

Oh, and Emmy Raver-Lampman is just breathtaking. I mean, wow.

Alita - Battle Angel 8/10

I thought the graphics were just amazing and the story was engaging. There were a few plot holes but nothing noteworthy - that I noticed anyway. It does a good job of setting up it's sequel.

Bohemian Rhapsody - 9/10 - I really enjoyed this movie and don't know much about Queen other than the typical popular songs. I probably would have given it a 10/10 if it wasn't for the other gay dude who always hung around. He just bothered me and was there in so many scenes that seemed like he shouldn't be there. If you have a good sound system, crank that shit up too. The sound was incredible in the movie.

Bad Reputation (2018, Joan Jett documentary) 9.5/10

Bad Reputation (Joan Jett documentary) - 9/10

Long story short, Joan is a badass and a one-of-a-kind. I was pretty familiar with a lot of the things she's done, but there were a bunch of new items in this I wasn't aware of and learned about. It's a straight forward documentary - factual and simplistic in mostly a chronological order. There are A LOT of huge names that contribute to the movie. I mean if you like her, you'll love this. If you like music in general, you should appreciate it. If neither, you'll probably find it h-hum.

I'll see Homerboy's review and raise it 0.5 points! OK, watched this week. It's 93 minutes, haven't watched the extras yet, but they look to be quite extensive and very likely great as well.

I agree with Homerboy's short assessment above. Really fantastic, actually, and cements my regard for her, just augments it tremendously. Of course, I've dug her music always, but this brings out who she is. This should at least be nominated for an Oscar, if not, Hollywood is just stick culture, nothing much there (which I sometimes suspect/think is the case).

Edit: Damn! Looks like it wasn't even nominated. That's just bullshit! I do hate Hollywood, truth be told. There are American movies I really like but they don't reek of Hollywood. Hey, I grew up in L.A. I've lived in CA almost all my life. But I take pride in seeing beyond the culture here, seeing the big picture.

Journey's End -- 8/10

About a British company's time in the trenches before a big German attack (the Spring Offensive of 1918). Well acted and excellent production design, I thought. I'd recommend it if you like war-themed movies. Available on Amazon Prime Video.

Oh and another I saw recently:

They Shall Not Grow Old -- 9/10

Peter Jackson's documentary about WWI, using reworked historical footage. I thought I missed it in theaters (well, I never seen it come here), but I saw it listed in the local theater and I was a little surprised. Turns out it was just a limited release in December and now it's full release. Anyway, it was as excellent as I was expecting. Man that old footage is so cool when it's made modern, and colorized. They should show this in schools when students are going over WWI.

Overlord - 8/10 - this movie was pretty damn awesome and has a really great soundtrack. The opening scene is pretty damn awesome too with great visuals and sound to boot. It's not scary at all and more of an action movie than anything close to horror. Maybe there are like 2-3 jump scares but you see them coming from a mile away. Very entertaining movie.

Watched this a few months back. Definitely solid. I'd give it around the same rating 7-8/10

I just randomly found "Polar" on Netflix. It's sort of like a crossover between "John Wick" and all the stuff that Netflix can't do with with their Marvel license and the Punisher Series. Take John Wick + Punisher and crank it to 11. It's brutal, it funny, the production is beautiful. If you don't have issues with *extreme* violence it's a fun ride.

Sounded interesting from your description. Reviews are brutal though.

The Last Dragon is on Netflix.

Quite possibly the greatest movie ever made. Everyone needs to watch it at least twice.

I JUST re-watched this LAST weekend. It's too awesome. I also learned that Sho'Nuff played Lord Bowler in Briscoe County Jr.
Make special note of a young(er) William H. Macy. And, I'm not afraid to say that an 80s Vanity was SMOKING hot.

Yep, I watched this last weekend after just randomly seeing the trailer on Netflix and I enjoyed it a lot more than I expected to based on the reviews. Definitely a fun movie.

It is wonderfully horrible. I remember seeing it at the drive-in.

Yeah, I missed it at the time, too. I find that I can't find myself to sit too long through generally bad--even so-bad-they're-good flicks (thinking Troll 2). What kind of mood do I need to be in--weed mood?

Well, I mean it's not engrossing or anything. You don't have to pay immedaite attention to everything going on - it's a good "look at your phone while watching" sort of movie on a lazy Saturday afternoon. I'd imagine a few drinks or joints wouldn't hurt.

Bright (2017)

Interesting concept, but they should have invested more time in fleshing out the antagonist(s) as they were nothing more than cardboard cut-outs in terms of character depth. As it is, it's an enjoyable action flick.

So-bad-they're-good movies should not be watched like normal movies. It really needs a group of people to talk thought the movie. Point out and laugh at the choices the director and writers made. Question how, and why, they thought that was an appropriate costume. Keep a running count on the amount of completely unnecessary gratuitous nudity they use. Bad movies are more of a social event then a movie watching experience.
