We watched fatman last night. It was okay. I expected more laughs and violence though.

5/10

Yeah, thought the same thing. 5/10 is a good rating. Hard to put a finger on...It's like something that is watchable yet isn't doing much with anything and before you know it the movie is over.

yeah no wipe that live action crap from your memory and watch the anime.

@Ajay

If you're interested, start with this:

The English dubbing is fine IMO.

If you get a taste for GitS, I'm sure I'm not the only one here who'll happily guide you through the rest of the franchise It's my favourite anime, possibly my favourite sci-fi (certainly on the list at any rate).

...and stay away from that 2.0 remaster. It's terrible. Unlike the Star Wars Special Editions, it ruins everything that was spectacular about the original.

Example? It replaces this (NSFW) with CG for no reason. No one is impressed to see that incredible hand-animated scene with CG. NO ONE. It looks like a videogame when they keep switching between CG and animation for no reason, like when Major Kusanagi was getting back on board the boat from her dive.

While certain aspects of that intro I linked above are inspired by Akira, to say the original GitS is iconic is an understatement. Even The Matrix is a total rip-off.

Thanks guys, took a look over at YouTube, not a fan of anime apparently. Plus, I don't speak Japanese. Not a fan of subtitles and dubs (which rules out otherwise excellent movies from Europe, etc.).

Get used to subtitles. Soon you'll need to learn Spanish and Mandarin xd

Today's movie was Mosul, an Iraqi movie on Netflix about a rogue SWAT team battling ISIS invaders in their hometown.

It's a pretty dark and gritty film, but seemed like a pretty accurate portrayal of modern urban combat. I'll give it a 7.5 out of 10. What's even more heart-wrenching is that it's based on a true story.

I could really use a break from "serious" films like this one, and could really use something more lighthearted and without English subtitles

I don't find Top Secret funny anymore.
You don't think it's funny when the spy crushed into a cube inside his car somehow still manages to deliver his message? How about the moving vehicle fight that somehow continues underwater after they go over a bridge? How about that stereotype of a French resistance fighter, introduced as "Deja Vu," who (of course) has to ask if we have met before?

Even recalling a guy grabbing the gun leaning against the tree cracks me up just thinking about it... since it is revealed that the tree was actually leaning against the gun when he grabs it and the tree falls over. Good stuff!

film's got a joke based on bestiality / gay anal sex.
AND an actual cow wearing boots.

Just watched season 4 of Shetland. Got a 1 month subscription to Britbox for .99 from Amazon.
Excellent, as were the previous 3 seasons. Douglas Henshall is great as D.I. Jimmy Perez.
8.5/10.
The Shetland scenery is terrific. One does wonder in reality how many murders do happen on the islands that have approximately 22k residents. I am guessing not many.
That aside, its a great series, going to start season 5 now.

Possessor (Uncut) - 6.5/10. I hyped this up wayyyyy too much in my head and I was somewhat disappointed. I think I need to watch it again with a different mindset.

I watched Cold Mountain for the first time. Renee Zellweger got that Oscar the hard way; she earned it. I’ve never been a fan of Nicole Kidman but she did good in this movie.

Enola Holmes - 7/10

Ok, not bad not great. Millie Bobby Brown was charming enough. Henry Cavill continues to nail wooden, emotionless characters. Helena Bonham Carter was predictably irritating and unlikable.
