.. but but ... that's my favourite part of twin peaks !
It should be! Because it's hilarious in a way that makes you feel strange, and that's intentional!
.. but but ... that's my favourite part of twin peaks !
My favorite part is Sherilyn Fenn!
good call, but Madchen Amick is what it's all about. Also, she doesn't really age, either.
Nah, you're totally wrong. Should we compare elbow structure?
oh wow november 2020. It may have been someone else here who recommended this more recently, in the last 2-3 months.Palm Springs 8/10
time loop movie ala Groundhog Day.
nice light-hearted movie.
Twin Peaks: Fire Walk with Me (1992)
Sheryl Lee --10/10-- ( I'm still hard).
She spends most of the film crying, because she can't figure out her character or the rest of it.
(Still hard)
Movie itself--0/10
See the documentary on the making of the movie soon to be released, "David Lynch on Acid".
Hello to all those trying to figure out the meaning of one detail or another. Put Sheryl Lee on the ground, naked, on her back, get down there too, looking at her from her head down. See twin peaks ? There you go.
Mad Max (1979) - 3/10
I have fond memories of Mad Max 2 and Beyond Thunderdome but didnt remember much about this so the other night I picked up some beers and kicked back to watch this one....
Wow, I am stunned and how bad this movie is. Even as a joke viewing I wouldn't recommend it. It straight up sucks imo and giving it a 3/10 is being generous. As I was watching it I was like.... is there something I am missing here cause this is awful and not even an ironic way. This is a hard pass, just go to the 2nd one.
Mad Max (the first film) - https://www.imdb.com/title/tt0079501/reference
Strangely, i feel the same way.
Strangely because you'd think someone who is a film buff, and loves MM2 and MM3 would love this first film.
The problem is that .. well ..
1. the photography is awful
2. the setup is extremely slow - sections with Max's family are excruciating.
3. the dialogues are abysmal, to the point where i genuinely cannot understand what is being said
3b. likewise, sound is awful
4. the supposed character arc of this policeman becoming a violent killer is barely touched on.
5. the bad guys have no motivation aside from being bad guys.
6. there is supposedly a backstory of world collapse that is also barely touched on.
The car chase scenes are pretty damn great, and the final "handcuffs" scene is great, which is what contributed to this film having any success.
Also, it was one of very few Australian films, which obviously did great on the australian market.
If we pretend that no other Mad Max films exist, i wouldn't recommend anyone to watch this, because all you really can get from it is those 2/3 car scenes.
I would compare MM1 to another film which centers around vehicular porn, and that is the vastly superior Duel (1971), where a menacing, mysterious truck hunts down a travelling salesman, apparently for no reason. Duel is far better tension and cinematography that MM1 does, and even as barebones as the story in Duel is, it's a better standalone watch than the first Mad Max.
I would rate it higher, though. Within the context of the Mad Max world, MM1 has meaning as the source story. It's interesting to see how he acquired his trademark jacket, leg crutch, and personality.
MM2 and my favourite, MM3 are vastly superior. MM2 by merit of placing the character of Max in a setting that suits him far more (and giving him some actual dialogue), and MM3 for having everything MM2 has, but also some exceptional characters in MasterBlaster, Aunt Entity, Pig Killer, and some unforgettable scenes. Seriously, MM3 is underappreciated. I even read someone say it's the worst of the three. Lol.
My vote: 5.5/10 as a standalone film, 6.5/10 for historical importance.
History Buffs liked itTombstone - 10/10
I just rewatched this after not seeing it for a long time and I think this movie is absolutely incredible. From top to bottom it is fantastic. The acting is wonderful and Val Kilmer should have gotten an Oscar for his portrayal of Doc Holiday. Sam Elliot is awesome, Kurt Russell is awesome, Bill Paxton is awesome, everyone is! I also like the fact that it's pretty much a true story, yeah the embellish here and there but at the end of the day this is a real story. I think this is legit the best Western I have seen, maybe tied with "The Good, The Bad and the Ugly" and " Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid" which are also obvious legends.
Read the book insteadi've taken the plunge and am watching The Man In The High Castle - https://www.imdb.com/title/tt1740299/reference
i have tried before but could not get through the first episode.
I'm now at S01E04, and i gotta say, it's not great.
As far as i can tell, the plot rotates around some illegal propaganda in the form of newsreels, films made or distributed by a secret resistance figure known as the man in the high castle. We are initially introduced to a protagonist, a good ol' american boy, who wants to join la'resistance. He's quickly revealed to be a double agent.
Also protagonist hot girl, who unwillingly comes into possession of one of said films. Lots of random bad dudes want to kill her, but since she is hot(tm), the male protagonist wants to bone her and thus protects her. He convinces his superiors that he is doing all this not for sex but to infiltrate the resistance. The film itself does't want you to know which side he swings.
There's a host of bad guys which are more comical than dramatic. The "marshall" in particular, but generally speaking the whole show paints a weird picture of what nazi occupation would be like. More "Brasil", more absurd than evil.
And, you know .. no subtitles. Japanese businessmen in 1950 who speak english between themselves.
All the american nazis are stuck on "ve haf wayz to make you talk" routines.
It's also both weird that nazi occupation has been going on for 10 years, the war is over, and yet there's both resistance and gestapo everywhere.
..
well, made it to episode 6, i'm done.
It's not terrible but it's repetitive.
The female protagonist "oh i gotta get this film to the resistance"
"yeah but watch out, because the government are nazis"
Male protagonist, who is also a nazi: "i have to discover who the man in the castle is"
"yeah but, be careful, because of the nazis"
Guy who is secretly jewish: "i am secretly jewish"
"Yeah but be careful, nazis"
Guy who shoots the japanese guy: "i want to shoot the japanese guy"
"hey, be careful of the nazis"
random NPC: "im just walking"
"nazis"
Yeah ok we fucking get it, nazis. I'm sorry but six hours of "nazi bad mmk" gets tedious.
Godfather Of Harlem, S02E03
every episode of this show is film quality. Excellent performances by *everyone*.
8/10
Allow me a brief review;Never heard of it. Cast looks amazing! Will have to check it out!
The classic Poltergeist. 7/10
The effects haven't aged well. Back in the day I thought the movie was very creepy. The clown. The tree that looks like a person with arms. The lighs coming from Carol Ann's room. They all seem kinda silly now. The movie does still have moments though, like when Carol passes thru the mom who then says how she could feel Carol's soul. That still gives me chills. Still a decent movie.
