Last week I took a backpacking trip in Montana, so I got to see several movies on the flights out & back.
News of the World: I like westerns. I like Tom Hanks. I liked this movie. There wasn't much action, and the story wasn't very original - in fact it was quite predictable - but all in all a good watch. I'm not in a rush to watch it again though.
A Quiet Place 2: I liked part 1 a lot, and part 2 was more of the same. Cillian Murphy is one of my favorite modern actors, and I was delighted to find out he played one of the major characters. Emily Blunt(!!!). Intense, suspenseful, and fun - I liked this movie a lot. I particularly liked the character arc of the boy in the movie. In hindsight the resolution at the end was in plain sight the whole time, but for whatever reason it still felt like a surprise to me.
Nobody: I really love Bob Odenkirk in BB/BCS, and I had heard that this movie is really good, but I was surprised at how much I liked it. I liked it so much that I basically watched it twice on one flight (once by myself, and once over my friend's shoulder - as soon as I finished it I told him he had to watch it). Violent and quirky if not all that original, I would call this the best movie I've seen in a while. I'm probably going to watch it again with Mrs. Ned in the near future...
John Wick 2 & 3: My buddy & I watched these in the hotel after a week of backpacking. For whatever reason I've resisted watching the John Wick movies... but I became an instant fan. I need to watch the first one, and then 2&3 again. I was surprised to read that John Wick and "Nobody" actually take place in the same universe, and that future movies may feature some crossovers. Now that I think about it, these movies have a lot of similarities.
WW84: Gal Gadot is the sole redeeming part of this movie - she almost saves it. But other than her, nothing in this movie could keep my attention. I didn't even finish it...
