Venom: Let Their Be Carnage 3/10

I like most Marvel movies. I like Venom. I like Tom Hardy in most of his movies, but I don't like him as Eddie Brock at all, and I don't the corny movie style they rebooted Venom into the last two movies. Not to mention the "Venom is coming out of the closet" scene was pretty lame/predictable.

I'll likely watch the next one, but I will wait until I can rent it for $3.00 or under on Amazon Video. I'm not paying movie theater money to see any more of the Venom movies.

Injustice (2021): 6/10

The story takes place on an alternate Earth in which the Joker has tricked Superman into killing Lois Lane, sending the hero on a rampage.
This unhinged Superman decides to take control of Earth for its own good, leading Batman and his allies to attempt to stop him.

Not bad except the end.
If this bad guy had the power to beat up Superman, why didnt he do it before this?!

Since the Flashpoint multi-movie arc ended last year, DC might be doing alternate universe movies for the time being.

I am almost positive that was not the case with that movie. Im pretty sure the creator of the series, David Chase, was highly involved with it.

yeah, this was a script that Chase and his partner were working on for many years. This was always his project, and he says that it started to click when they thought they should talk about Dickie Motlisanto. ...which I think was a fine idea, but I agree that it wasn't executed very well.

outside of Ray Liotta and Vera Farmiga, there isn't much to like about this flick.

Eh, I didn't think Ray Liotta was that great by any means. I actually did not like the fact he played 2 characters at all. I thought it was really stupid and cheap.

I thought it was fucking awesome, and he was the only great thing in that movie, really. haha. In fact, I was glad that he "returned" as the twin, even if it was just silly casting (which I don't think it was), because earlier I was like "Fuck, well now that Ray Liotta is fucking dead, why the fuck am I going to keep watching this crap?"

watched a new show called "Unreported World". (new to me)
First episode this year was about coca-cola, and their mission to give everyone in Mexico diabetes. Kinda scary.
I think most of us knew that coca-cola pushes their product all over the world, but they are overly aggressive with Mexico for some reason.

So, according to the documentary, EVERYONE in this small town consumes a minimum of two liters each day. Even toddlers.
Fresh water is expensive in bottles, and their water supply is completely borked. You cannot drink the tap water. Its worse than Flint, and nobody cares.
The local coca-cola bottling plant sucks up 300,000 gallons per day.
Mexican Coca Cola is AFAIK the only Coke with real sugar in it, not high fructose corn syrup. IDK if that makes any difference. Just weird fact.

Has anyone watched Midnight Mass on Netflix??

6 episodes in and I like it, has some cheesiness to it, and special effects are not the best. But I don't want to give any spoilers out just yet since it hasn't been mentioned that I can see.

Anybody watch the show on Netflix called The 100?

It's like Lord of the Flies meets sci fi dystopian future meets Beverly Hills 90210

It's terribly good in a horribly great way. Campy, stereotypical shit, but the overall premise is cool and it's strangely addictive, at least season 1. 78% fresh on RT both critics and audience, for Season 1.

Watched Prometheus again 6/10. There are some really interesting parts, especially those that round out the Alien backstory. A few moments of excellent cinematography. But, in the rush to accelerate the pace as a modern sci-fi horror/thriller - it becomes a collection of shorts, rather than a cogent movie. The ending with the Engineer,Shaw and the other thing; did Ridley Scott suffer a stroke? Man that as awful.

such indepth
wow

In a nutshell:

1. He dies at the end
2. Which is not what I wanted to see
3. Plus he could have, you know, just Facetimed them, and waited for a cure
4. Oddly enough I liked the "less action" version, you don't get action-fatigue like some other action movies
5. Only thing I really had a hard time with was Rami looking 40 in the beginning and then looking like, younger later lol
6. Although Rami did a good job
7. Lots of mumbling. I had a hard time understanding some of the dialogue. Maybe I'm getting old haha
8. The casket explosion, dang!
9. Glorious vehicles. Aston Martins galore, chef's kiss
10. The 3-week agent was pretty good
11. Felt like they switched the plot from virus to nanobots due to COVID & some things were reshot quickly
12. Like the death scene for the white-shirt guy who betrays them
13. I feel like Bond has become so cool that his coolness makes the movie fairly predictable
14. Also felt like we didn't get much backstory on white-shirt guy, Rami's empire, etc.
15. I kinda liked the new 007
16. Blofeld was pretty good
17. "It blew his mind" lol still with the dad jokes
18. The off-road stuff was fun
19. Oh my gosh the scenic shots of Norway while driving
20. My first vote for the new Bond goes to Henry Golding, followed by Michael Fassbender

Zola 7/10

movie is based on a real stripper's twitter postings about her days with another stripper that she just met.
every few min, the movie posts the actual tweet from Zola to correspond with the scene.
(Zola is the black girl, and thats not a flattering pic of either one of them in that movie poster)

i give the movie props for originality.
i actually stopped the movie to find the tweets in full via google.

the scene with the 2 guys with shotguns was stupid tho.

Prometheus is a fine example of good ideas ruined by bad execution. The Alien franchise is the 2nd most wasted cinematic opportunity after Star Wars.

How to Eat Your Watermelon in White Company (and Enjoy It) (2005) 8.5/10

If you like Gil Scott Heron, MLK, Bobby Seale, Huey Newton, BLM, then you should really like this. If you don't, I don't know what to tell you. It's a documentary about Melvin Van Peebles, who died a few weeks ago at 89. He was really something. Painter, writer (French and English), filmmaker, producer, playwright, successful gigolo (had a woman for every day of the week), on a whim he went to Wall Street and became a successful broker on the NY Stock Exchange.

i'm gonna have to say no, here. I honestly could not even absorb the plot of the film due to the incessant shaky-cam that made me nearly vomit.

Shaky came is the worst thing to happen to entertainment since Tom Green.

Its been used way too much in film, TV, and even video games. I'm sick of it.
Not sure whether to blame Blair Witch or not. I think it was used before then. But either way I do not like it.

Star Trek: Lower Decks

It's been amusing so far, but I wish they hadn't tried to squash ~40 minutes of content into a ~20 minute episode format. Everything has to be non-stop, rapid-speaking characters, virtually no pauses between characters speaking, no time to breathe. It can be quite jarring, especially in the first episode.
