Finished Kimi. Good ending. There were a few plot holes but nothing that hard to ignore. Kept me interested till the end.

I felt the opposite. I enjoyed the suspense and anti-modern plot of the film, until it collapsed into the typical
actiony bloodfest at the very end.

I still enjoyed it...I kinda get it in the end, but I feel like they abandoned the character and the plot for the last 5 minutes to feed content to the lowest common denominator type audience. :\

Star Wars - The Force Awakens

Somehow I tricked myself into watching this film by picking it up in a supermarket bargain bucket. It was pretty disappointing, and I agree with what I'd heard about it and it being labelled 'Star Wars - A Familiar Hope' because there's a lot of recycled material in there, but really my disappointment was that aside from the recycling there wasn't anything remotely new or interesting done with it. A competently executed pile of nothing. It lacked the amusement of say 'A New Hope' to boot.

It pisses me off that there are decent Star Wars plots out there (the original trilogy were generally fairly decent, Rogue One as well, but the pinnacle for me has been KOTOR1&2), and I think Star Wars has some potential for plots with substance, but nothing of substance found its way into this film. The closest thing to an interesting character in it IMO was that orange alien, but that character's involvement seemed to me to reek of sequel fodder even then.

I've said it a billion times, but the Skywalker film trilogy should have continued with the Dark Empire series from Dark Horse comics of the mid-nineties. That's the best Star Wars content outside of the original films. ....actually, I think the final shitty film in this series borrowed a bit of that plot, but it seems very desperate and undeveloped, because Abrams put himself in a spot to basically ignore those first two recent films in order to crap out something at the very end to finish the story. What a wreak.

\Here she sings the theme to another Bond film, Moonraker, arguably the best theme song and her best performance of such.

and Moonraker (the film) was one of the worst of them all.

Bassey also did the theme for Diamonds are Forever. I don't think anyone else did more than 1 theme.

It was Disney's fault. They should have let the original Rogue One director mess it up and then gotten it fixed by the director who didn't give a damn about Star Wars. That's how Rogue One became the gem it turned out to be.

I mean yeah, I'm not sure how much differently it could have ended, I mean it was the final evolution of her character as she busted out of that malady for survival.

there is the argument for not wanting the female protagonist to fall into the typical, cliche of running, hiding, going to get stronger people (law enforcement) to help her out and save the day. So instead, they went with the typical, cliche trope of highly-effective suddenly-mercenary female protagonist that is capable of John McClaining her way out of sudden violence, with a lot of her own violence, because well, look now she can do that.

I will have to give her a listen. Live and let die is still my favorite though.

Not only the best Bond theme, but, arguably, one of the only good things Paul McCartney came out with post-Beatles (I struggle to think of anything else he did without John that I liked).

I might be in a minority-of-one in liking Garbage's "The World Is Not Enough" as well.

The trouble with Goldfinger is that Alan Partridge has ruined it for me.

The ending did seem abrupt. But I would like them to explore her John McClaining abilities in a sequel.

I mean it's still pretty ridiculous when all these guys are magically or magically become Rambos or John McClain's. I thought it was silly but in the same vein was actually more believable because it was short and sweet vs these one or two men armies that kill dozens to hundreds. Also she used her environment that she knew very well to her advantage.

Narcos Mexico (season 3): 9/10

final season.
Surprised me that this takes place after the fall the Pablo Escobar.

thought Narcos Mexico was entirely a prequel to Narcos, which was about the rise and fall of Escobar.
season 1+2 yes, but season 3 wasnt.

The only thing I dont under stand is:
Why the general who arrested the Lord of the Skies 10 years earlier and burned millions of his Coke and US dollars then turned to work for him? and only for $200k/month ($2.4M/yr)?
that haul he seized AND BURNED when he arrested Amado 10yrs ago was worth way more.

Killing EVE (s4 e1+2): 5/10

final season.
WTF the assassin is now a born again Christen?! the comedy of this failed HARD.
how did she come to this after the ending of S3?

Eve is now working for a private security company yet still doing British Intelligence stuff in tracking down the Twelve???

None of this makes any sense.
It's a huge departure from what made s1-3 great.

Have to agree that it jumped the shark with that first episode. Now they have turned it supernatural? Or worse?

https://www.imdb.com/title/tt1877830/ 9/10.

Another story about this masked vigilante.as seen in the beginning and a "hero" at the end of the movie. Catwoman, The Riddler, The Penguin, Carmine Falcone, James Gordon and of course Alfred Pennyworth nicely portrayed. Visuals and background sound through out the movie is amazing too. Can't wait for the 4K UHD release.

Worth watching the 2:47 movie and 9 minute credits (teaser at end).

If anyone is bored tonight and/or under the influence and have access to HBO, Rubber is on in 30 minutes. Honestly the weirdest movie I've ever seen, absolutely ridiculous in every way while remaining incredibly good, better than it should possibly be. So much so that it's difficult to put into words. Everyone should give it a watch at least once in their life. 100 stars out of 10.

anyone else watching 1883 ? -https://www.imdb.com/title/tt13991232/reference/

starring Mr Moustache in the 1 only role he can play, it's got a staggering 9/10 on IMDb out of 37000 votes.
I was ready to dismiss it halfway due to the ethnically-diverse case, empowering-liberated female roles, and other nonsense that has no place in a historical recreation, but after watching the first episode in full, im gonna get me some more.
Too early for a vote, although the opening scene is got some amazing stuff in it.

Nightmare Alley - https://www.imdb.com/title/tt7740496/reference/

This ridiculously long - two hours and a half - film starts as a book adaptation of the same name, whose main selling point is the circular nature of the script; a man - the protagonist, Bradley Cooper - starts working for a carnival; he's a hard worker, and a good man, so he quickly rises in the ranks to become the mentalist act. Along the way, two supporting characters tell him of the worst that can happen to a man, one is when a mentalist believes his own lies, and the other is when a hobo is enslaved to become an "animal-man" in the carnival.
The protagonist becomes successful, then prideful, then falls to believing his own lies, and finally winds up as the animal man. OH THE HUMANITY.

While this script would make for a fantastic 25-50min Twilight Zone episode, it drags on SO. MUCH. that by midway through the film, it looks more like a documentary about carnival life, after which any surprise that the script might have is so telegraphed and deployed so slowly, that it feels like a chore to wait for the super-obvious resolution of the scenes.

Good production, good photography as with all Benicio Del Toro films, good acting from Cooper, plus William Defoe, Cate "Galadriel" Blachett, even Tim Blake Nelson in the final scene, but not a film i would recommend - maybe some nerd on fanedit.org is willing to chop this film into half its runtime, but until then i would say, save yourself - this film ain't worth the effort.

5.5/10 - desperately slow

Licorice Pizza - https://www.imdb.com/title/tt11271038/reference/

Sometime in the early 70s, two very unusual characters meet; one is a 15yo child actor with too much freedom, the other is a 25yo girl and his love interest, and while she refuses his advances, they enter into a weird sort of co-enabling relationship, and

that's it.

It's weird. It's weird in a Paul Thomas Anderson kind of way. It's a film made for the purpose of making a well made film, but it doesn't invest itself into telling you a story, rather, it takes you along for the ride of these two characters' weird lives.

YMMV depending on what kind of a mood you are in, but if you are looking for a night of appreciation of good cinematography, then watch this. Don't expect a Boogie Nights, tho.

7/10 - PTA knows how to make film, but really needs a good script to work from.

I was debating that one, seems hit and miss. I like Zoe, so will probably watch it. I find myself watching movies/tv shows almost more for the people in them, then the actual story.

The girl before 7/10. For some reason I tend to gravitate to shows not in the US more, the accents and locals seem different and nice. The buildings and cars being different is nice. Interesting premise, some decent acting, not too many twists. But kept me guessing till the end of the 3rd episode when I put 2 and 2 together. Its 4 episodes on HBO, about an hour each. Oh, and the two leading actresses are gorgeous so that helps.
