^^he's on an FX series with kelsey grammer
side note - watched whiplash dvd since redbox doesn't carry the bluray, and watched horrible bosses 2 bluray right after. holy shit it's been A LOT time since i watched a dvd and i can't believe the quality lol. i felt like i needed glasses while watching it, except i already had my glasses on. it reminded me of a telesync bootleg from back in the day for the first 5-10 minutes until i kinda got used to it. it's crazy the quality difference between bluray/dvd, although i bet my wife couldn't have told you the difference.
and don't even get me started with standard dolby digital vs. the HD audio tracks...

Yeah. Feel the same way about DVD. I feel like it's wasting my time to watch a standard-def DVD. It's not that I can't enjoy a standard def movie. If I do enjoy it, I'll want to watch it again in HD...so watching the DVD is a waste of time.side note - watched whiplash dvd since redbox doesn't carry the bluray, and watched horrible bosses 2 bluray right after. holy shit it's been A LOT time since i watched a dvd and i can't believe the quality lol. i felt like i needed glasses while watching it, except i already had my glasses on. it reminded me of a telesync bootleg from back in the day for the first 5-10 minutes until i kinda got used to it. it's crazy the quality difference between bluray/dvd, although i bet my wife couldn't have told you the difference.

Unless I know there's no chance of seeing an HD version of a particular thing, I'll avoid the DVD format at all costs.
Love this movie, but I agree the score is off, I remember criticizing it in this thread earlier. The director, Sidney Lumet, has done a number of films without a score at all, and he didn't even want Serpico to have one, but he was forced by the studio. I recall him making a remark that he is happy that he got away with there being very little music throughout the movie in the special features of the Blu-Ray.Serpico
8/10
I had it in the background and wasn't going to pay attention since I've already watched it years ago. It was still somehow entertaining. Shitty soundtrack though.
The only time I can really tell much of a difference between DVD and BR is if I am standing very close to my TV. At normal viewing distances they look quite similar to me. Maybe all those years of "internet research" are taking a toll on my aging eyes.
