Leon the proffesional (extended edition) 9/10: Classic movie from 1994. It's a great film and I had never watched the extended edition before. I must warn you guys/girls if you decide to watch it there are some Lolita parts to the film... It's more suggestion/flirtation than anything, but it can be enough to turn your stomach.

The Lollita stuff is not that bad from what I recall. But this movie is awesome. It should be on everyone's must see list.

One of my all time favorites personally.

I still watch it now and then.

But that's the problem with 90% of the block buster movies. Don't you get tired of that? With little to no character development it wears thin. Explosions, gun shootouts, car chases and crashes, fire, ad nauseum. Is this salutary? No, I haven't seen the latest Mad Max flick, but I'm not optimistic I will come away feeling exhilarated, that I will feel it's bona fide art.

Try it. You'll like it

I think the problem with the way that you're looking at it is that the amount of character development in and of itself does not make or break a movie. Character development is simply a tool in a movie used to give a character more definition. Now, that's where this gets important... the amount of definition that a character requires for a story to work is not always the same. The character development in Mad Max is kind of like what you see in Taken. The movie Taken presents a bit of character development for Brian Mills in the beginning, which sets up the stage to allow the audience to root for him as he searches for his daughter. Both movies use simple concepts (read: emotions) that people can relate to.

Mad Max Fury Road 8 of 10.

Would be 9 of 10 if it had any meaningful depth at all but the movie knows what it is and lives up to everything it is supposed to be.

Only thing keeping it from being perfect then would be sloppiness, like characters hanging off of scorching hot exhaust pipes without a problem and speaking through roofs/windows with no wind noise and making plans that require something to work that already failed to work once... you know: Nothing serious.

Pitch Perfect - 6/10

I thought I'd watch it before watching Pitch Perfect 2, since many of my girl friends and even some of my guy friends have said they enjoyed it. Worryingly, they all said they enjoyed the first one more.

I've never watched Glee. In general I hate movies and shows that have people holding conversations in verse. It makes me want to cry. Or kill someone.

Given this, I enjoyed, relatively speaking, the movie. The acting was okay, the story is quite tired and overdone but at least there are no surprises, right? I mean, everyone knows right from the get-go that they're going to win; they don't stand a chance of losing. The only thing that I think would have made an appreciable difference in my enjoyment of the movie would be if, you know, Kendrick could actually sing half as well as the movie makes her out to. Listening to her singing the audition made me want to cringe.

I guess as a guy the thing that I liked most about the movie was the chicks. And even then only the redhead and Kendrick were all that good looking. And that's because I have a huge thing for redheads. The blonde is really off-putting with her whole passive-aggressive stuck-in-the-past thing.

Not sure I'll end up watching the second one now.

Mad Max: Fury Road - 9/10

Holy man what a frickin thrill ride. I really enjoyed this. The sets and production design were fantastic, acting was great, practical/non-CGI effects satisfying. I think my only half-criticism was that it was kinda difficult understanding some of the dialog, but that's probably half due to the accents and manner of speaking, and my own seeming difficulty in it in general. Highly recommended!

I saw it last night and at an 8:15pm Wednesday showing, every damn seat was taken up in the theater.

I would review Mad Max: Fury Road, but I would only be able to say "fucking awesome" and "worth every penny".

Anyone that have problems with the story, characters, plot devices, motivations, and realism, have obviously forgot Feral Boy, Tina Turner, and the fucking Thunderdome.

After thoroughly enjoying Mad Max Fury Road, I watched the original Mad Max on Google Play last night and this morning. Can't recommend. I guess it was a product of its time. I still plan to re-watch Road Warrior and Thunderdome.

The first Mad Max has always been pretty bad. It is a chore to sit through. The next two though, are pure post-apocalyptic, road warrioring goodness.

Ghoulies 3 Ghoulies go to College 1/10
wow I'll admit to actually liking the first two for the cheesy bad horror movies they are. This one attempts to be a comedy and fails miserably. The Ghoulies are bigger, talk, and try to act like the 3 Stooges. Netflix streaming

Zombeavers 3/10
Zombie beavers how can it be bad? Well they found a way. The effects are lame as are the kills and really that is all a movie like this has going for it. Does have some nice boobies. Netflix streaming

I like Mad Max but I can easily understand somebody not liking it. It does have one of the greatest chase scene ever though for the opening.

Eh, I didn't really care for The Road Warrior. I would've watched Beyond Thunderdome, but I've always heard that it wasn't as good as the others. So, I figured that I wouldn't like it either! Maybe if I was a Tina Turner fan.

"Zombeavers?" Zombie beavers? Jesus christ. Why haven't I heard of this movie and why hasn't it gotten every Oscar, Academy, and other award possible? LOL, wow.

As mentioned above, the opening car chase is about as good as the movie gets. Then, just know the world is in ruin and society is collapsing. Max is broken by a biker gang when they kill his wife and child, gets in his Ford Falcon, takes revenge, and then goes off to leave society. The next two are pure 80's fun.

I guess people in the near future don't watch their kids because... APOCALYPSE! That's probably also why Max and his wife allowed their kid to play with a revolver later. There are no other signs of this "apocalypse" other than gang members and a crappy police headquarters. People have homes, electricity, money, city services, beaches, greenery, tropical getaways, leisure (disco, singer, sax playing, camping, etc), employment, etc. The roads are freshly paved and clean and look immaculate except for a little bit of roadwork.

...ok so I watched the two videos....

It's even worse when you watch from the very beginning. There's a sign post which, when sideswiped, somehow knocks the hood/bonnet off. There's exposition explaining that the Nightrider guy is driving the department's last V8 and yet they magically catch up more than once with inferior engines and crashes holding them back. There are even more crashes that happen for no reason. It's all pointless.

The magic of the first Mad Max was the low production cost vs what it pulled in at the box office at the time as a cult thing.

I think it held the record for that for decades till Blair Witch, it was made on a shoestring.
