Supergirl - disappointed/10
No mainstream streaming service has it. CBS has it locked up. I expect it to be horrible, but that just makes me want to watch at least a few episodes, to see how bad it is, compared with how bad it looks from their commercials for it.
South Park, season 19 - 9/10
I think they overplayed the Caitlyn Jenner bit, as the episodes progressed, but after years of ho-hum seasons, they pulled off a really good one, here. Several-episode story arcs, politically ambiguous character actions, silly Canadians standing in for political talking points...it's as vulgar and crass as always, but timely, and actually rather nuanced, in ways.
Jessica Jones - 7.5/10
Starting out, I really expected it to drag on, but it didn't. Every time the villain got away, our protagonist truly did get closer to catching him. I like that the anti-hero acted restrained, not showy, and without the excessive melodrama typical of the supers we've been getting, lately (FI, take the fight scenes, that don't always dramatically begin, that are mostly shoving and tripping, etc., instead of the big elaborate choreography we usually get). Krysten Ritter could have not have been better cast (she often ends up the stand-out in otherwise bad to overage shows and movies, IMO), and David Tennant does a much better deranged evil guy than I would have expected. I think more could have been done with the Luke character, though, and the focus on everyone's self-loathing got to be a distraction, in the later episodes, that didn't really add to anything that wasn't already dealt with sufficiently. While there were some obvious plot holes, nothing major. But, what really got me, honestly, were the in your face brand logos, presented where they could have just moved forward a few seconds, instead.
Interstellar - meh/10
I tried, and I usually like Nolan's movies, but after about half an hour, I decided to get started with SMT IV, instead.
Telenova, episodes 1-3 - 8/10 (with an expected downhill slide)
Silly low-brow humor put into an unusual template, to make it stand out. I don't see it being the kind of show that will remain good past 2 seasons, 3 at most. It's a good over the top sitcom, starting out, though, and cast seems to work well together.
