Saw The Revenant with my wife. We both liked it a lot. She usually likes only action movies/ racing movies but she was glued in.

Overall it's a pretty badass western. I didn't think Leo and Tom Hardy could pull off being in a western but wow.

It could be shorter but awesome movie. I'll say 9.5/10 with .5 taken for the length of it. However the photography/ cinematography/ script and acting is all first class!

Will be checking that one out.

Strange, the wife and I both really like River Song and were looking forward to it, but thought the episode was a let down. Seems to be the minority opinion from what I've read around the web.

Did anyone see The Hateful Eight in 70mm? Trying to decide if I should use my last day of freedom tomorrow to make the 40 minute trek to a 70mm screening, or just see it within walking distance.

Definitely going to see it in a theater. I don't want anything to diminish the experience of a movie that appears to be vast+immersive based on the trailers (which I also saw theatrically).

I'm just asking because I saw a 70mm print of 2001 at TIFF in Toronto and it was fucking awful. My all time favourite film, but the crappy print was very distracting.

Anyway just wanted to see if people saw The Hateful Eight in 70mm and can attest to its worthiness. I assume it's fine since it's a new movie, but that 2001 screening has me wary.

Yeah, from what I can see it is very mixed, though most Tarantino lovers still love it and non-fans hate it. I'm trying not to get too worked up either way, though I do typically love his stuff.

I had no idea 2001 was filmed in 70mm. Film stock was generally crappy at the time.
