Beware. The movie is slow. All about character development. Amazingly, no gratuitous sex scenes, which seems to be Jane Campion's thing. Actresses feel honored to disrobe in her movies. I don't know why.

Cedar Rapids - 6/10

Ed Helms, Sigourney Weaver, John C. Reilly, Ann Heche - quite the A-list cast for 2011 when this film debuted.

Small town, sheltered insurance salesman heads to the big city, Cedar Rapids, to his first conference and hijinx ensue. If you are from Wisconsin, Iowa, Minnesota (upper midwest) this will resonate with you.

I decided to watch this because it was one of three Best Picture nominees at 90+% with both critics and audience on Rotten Tomatoes (the other two are CODA and West Side Story, for anyone curious). While I'm probably not as low as you are, I wasn't too impressed. I also don't understand what was so impressive about his acting. I'm not going to call it terrible, but Best Actor? Really?

CODA was a much better film. Haven't seen West Side Story yet.

Fantastic Australian Western movie with a big focus on Aboriginal relationship/slavery with ranchers.
Beautifully filmed but an extremely gritty dark film.

Death On The Nile 7/10

If Egypt is your thing, the cinematography is outstanding. The story has been around for a while but a new take on some of the characters.
Acting ranges from good to better but only one or two actors stand out.

No a must see but interesting enough for one and done viewing.

Ghost Rider - 6.5/10

I really loved this movie and might even watch the "good" parts again, but if I'm going to be completely objective, I gotta say it was just meh. That said, I love - more than I dare express - seeing the bad guys bite the dust. In fact there was one section I had to go through frame by frame just so I could see the mugger's teeth. I think they got a died-in-the-wool, honest to Christ tweeker for that scene. It's nice to see tweekers getting some screen time.

The special effects are pretty cool too and make up a big part of my rating.

Right now I'm watching the sequel - Ghost Rider, the Spirit of Revenge. And it's not bad. At this point, I'm putting it at least on a par with the original. I love that they have the teacher from Buffy the Vampire Slayer as a priest. That should give you some idea of just how juvenile my tastes are. Oh, and love Legacies.

I don't know. It was a disappointment compared to the original. The special effects are cheap. Image Nation. Everytime I see that at the start of a movie, I know it's gonna be lazy and/or subpar compared to the usual Hollywood fare.

Castlevania S1 and S2

Thoroughly enjoyable, interesting characters, decent plot so far (I haven't watched S3 yet). My only gripe with it is that while the scenery artwork is decent, the character artwork is not. It's not distractingly bad though.

I think that I'm getting old, but I'm actually enjoying the Benjamin Franklin documentary by Ken Burns on PBS. Scientist, Printer, Revolutionary... He was a true Renaissance Man!

I like Ken's storytelling style. If you liked The Civil War, you'll like this one. 8/10. If you found it boring... you should probably stay away from this one.

I watched Episode 1 last night. What are you guys liking about it? The production value is pretty good, no doubt. Other than that, it's ok. They are raising a lot of questions that the audience wants answers to, like why the heck is he putting broken glass in his shoes etc. So is it just curiosity?

I had done the same thing, but it was a mistake. The Sanderson books actually pulls the narrative it back together and are more like the writing in The Eye of the World than the endless rambling of Knife of Dreams.

Ghosts BBC version 8/10
Bit late to the party as there are 3 season out on HBOmax already but I really like it. Couple inherit an old manor house, lady has near death experience and can now see ghost, house full of ghosts, cute comedy ensues.
